    2008 City Prep

City Prep is taking place Tuesday, September 9th at Bear Trace at Harrison Bay. Should be an interesting one-day event this year with perennial favorite Baylor leading the way. If McCallie can get four players to play to their potential at the same time they could give Baylor a run for the title. Will also be interesting to see how Notre Dame and Soddy-Daisy both play as they are having great seasons so far. Have to watch out for Walker Valley who is also strong and could sneak into the top two.
  3. Yesterday ND shot 34-34-34-35 for a 137 total at Creeks Bend beating Soddy-Daisy by seven strokes. It's not often you see a team like SD shoot 144 and get beat let alone by seven. At home, Notre Dame is tough and it will be interesting to follow them on other courses. Impressive performance by both teams though.
  4. Soddy Daisy has a good young team...they are doing very well and have a great future. They did get schooled by McCallie recently, but to be fair, McCallie has three seniors, a junior and a sophmore in their top five while Soddy Daisy is really young. They will be the team to beat in Chattanooga in the next couple of years (imo and not including Baylor who is in a league of it's own).
  5. Payne has not really been playing as well this year as he did last year. I agree that he should be one of the favorites to win the state, but his recent scores don's support that position. I like Payne amd hope he turns it around.
  6. Congratulations To Hunter and good luck at MTSU. Say hi to Dane Voss.
  7. Perhaps if a dws would have been included with the "loaded club" post it would have been understood he was "joking".
  8. You are very welcome golfingking. I am only posting here to help everyone develop a true understanding of the facts.
  9. I meant "does that mean Brooke Pancake" to the poster who said Ms. Randolph was the best girl golfer in the state.....not would she get that elusive full ride which we both know does not exist.
  10. Both Hunter and Joe could play golf at most D1 schools but as good as they both are, neither one will receive a full-ride golf scholarship. Maybe, if they are lucky, they will get 50% (still good) but they have to earn it every year unlike football, etc.
  11. Does that include Brooke Pancake?
  12. Didn't say college coaches didn't pay attention to high school results. In fact, many college coaches were at the division II championships (and I'm sure the other tournaments) at Old Fort this year. They do place more emphasis on non-high school events though.
  13. The Junior golf Scoreboard includes many junior events (not non-junior events thus the name). They include prestigous events like the Future Masters, The Donald Ross Invitational, and other long-running junior tournaments. They also include the Tennesee Junior Am as well as the AJGA, SJGT, and other local tours. High School Golf is not included because they only rank 36 hole or more events. They should include the State Champtionship however since it is 36 holes.
  14. No disrespect intended towards Hunter and in fact, he is being congratulated. The "shirt being tucked in" discussion, as well as the best HS golfer in TN discussion" are more directed at other posters and are a little "tongue-in-cheek". Hunter's accomplishments speak for themselves. Just can't let people post random, unsubstantiated thoughts without a reponse.
  15. Funny how when people use "enough said" to end a post, it is usually certain that enough has not been said. Many sports require the particpants to "keep their shirts tucked in". It's a matter of respect for the game and respect for the rules. Contrarians rarely succeed in the long run. And if you want to play in college, the shirt will absolutely stay "tucked in".
  16. payne is very, very good and has the mental outlook to become the best player in the state (if he is not already).
  17. well, hunter certainly played well at old fort. he held his own, lost in a playoff, but certainly did nothing to hurt his overall record in the tn state tournament. however, there is certainly no evidence, based in fact, that hunter is the best high school golfer in tn. in fact, his ranking on the junior golf scoreboard (facts, not opinions) place him 4th (behind joe david and two others). rankings aside, hunter has a great record and i am sure has a chance to be a decent player in college golf (but he will have to keep his shirt tucked in).
