  1. Wouldn't it be "a blue-headed stepchild"? And I highly doubt either team will beat the other by a large margin. It will be a close game.
  2. Mixed emotions about moving the game back to McCallie. The atmosphere will be electric but a lot of fans of both teams and just interested parties will miss out on a great game. I really don't care - just want McCallie to stop Baylor's streak now and believe it will happen. McCallie has a lot of talent to put on the field in 2014.
  3. BJ making the Packer's roster is great news all around. Congratulations to a fine young man.
  4. FWIW it is Tornado as in Blue Tornado.....not Tornados.
  5. I just hope it is a good game with a different outcome than the last few years.
  6. Having to defend McCallie's triple option in the first game of the season would be difficult for any team. You have to pick your poison and spend all your practice time preparing for one game or split it up and prepare for the full season. Obviously Cleveland spent more time preparing for the latter...as they should have. Cleveland will be just fine.
  7. If it is a rule that is enforced 100% of the time without any subjective judgement then I have no problem with the point being deducted. But, if the rule has been selectively enforced in the past, then deducting the point was total BS. The rule, regardless is ridiculous and should be stricken from the rule book.
  8. Thought McCallie played an awesome first half against Ensworth...but also felt like it was not sustainable. Still proud of the McCallie boys and especially liked the good competitive sportsmanship displayed by both teams.
  9. After the last Blue Tornado outing, I am just hoping for an error-free game by McCallie. But even then, BA will be too strong. If McCallie can make the pitch, they can hang with BA for a half. In the end, it will probably be a 13-17 point win for BA. It could be worse if McCallie plays terribly, but I do not think that will happen.
  10. Just an opinion.....do not like Bowers, but have seen his team play and they impressed. Looked at common opponents, but who knows how reliable that is. Just a feeling.....that is all. Don't really care who wins...looking forward to a great High School football game.
  11. Why? Common opponents - Baylor and MBA - Ensworth has fared better by a TD or more and it is a home game for Ensworth. Adds up to a 14 point victory in my uneducated opinion (according to Doct). I thought this was supposed to be fun.
  12. Have not yet seen Brentwood play, but I have seen Ensworth. I have to believe Ensworth is a 14 point winner. I think Brentwood is good, but I think Ensworth is better. Ensworth 34 Brentwood 20
  13. Baylor wins by ten over McCallie and Blake Maum takes the individual title shooting 68-71. Andrew Weathers of McCallie finished second with a two under par total (74-68). A bad first nine by McCallie yesterday proved to be the difference and the Baylor Boys played the last 6 difficult holes today very well.
  14. What happens when McCallie does not play well and Baylor does? Well, a 13 stroke lead for Baylor is huge. Not so large that it cannot be overcome, but it will take great play from McCallie combined with a slip up or two from Baylor. McCallie had too many double and triple bogeys from almost all their players...and Baylor played smart and very well. Blake Maum leading the individual chase with a 68 - he shot 90 in the region. Turnaround of the year.
  15. do not see anyone stopping the streak if McCallie plays as expected. They have all five players back from last years state championship team and four of their top five from 2010. Would be great to see one of them take the medalist honor as that would also be three in a row. But Olsen from MUS has to be the prohibitive favorite to win his second individual state title (he won in 8th grade). Good luck to all the teams!
  16. *!#*#!@* this one hurts.....I really hope McCallie meets up with the B school in the playoffs.....have a good feeling about a rematch.
  17. McCallie Men, Time to start another winning streak..... Go Big Blue! Should be an outstanding High School Football Game!
  18. If I am not mistaken, the topic is Baylor - McCallie, not BA - Ensworth. To start a new topic, please see the help guide. Thanks for your cooperation.
  19. Just speaking for myself, if McCallie can average winning 2 of 3 games every year, beat the B school every year, and play for the occasional state championship, that would be a good thing.
  20. When Potter was at McCallie before it was a good fit for both the coach and the school - comfortable is a word I use to describe the relationship. And his teams were hardly mediocre, so I really do not understand your point. Care to elaborate and have a decent discussion?
  21. Does not really matter from where they came...for either school. They are at McCallie and the B School now. I am looking forward to the matchup this year more than the past few years. Potter at BA may not have worked out, but he is home at McCallie and comfortable. That makes a world of difference. The team has improved dramatically this year...hope it is enough. Great game - no injuries - Blue W!
  22. Baylor not as good as advertised, but still a very good team.....McCallie not as bad as the first two games and on a roll the last two - should be a great game. Teams very evenly matched imho -- McCallie's run game vs. Baylor's passing. Not predicting anything except a great game between two competitive teams. As is normally the case, the team who makes the fewest mistakes and TO's will probably win. I hope it is the Blue team that comes out on top.
  23. Ensworth looked to me to be every bit as good as last year and probably better. I would be very surprised if Baylor is within three touchdowns, and that is not a knock on Baylor. I just feel Ensworth is heads and shoulders above the competition this year.
  24. After watching Ensworth on television last week, I am not looking forward to seeing them in person tomorrow night. Corn Elder will be hard to contain and the Blue Tornado defense will be challenged all evening. The good thing is McCallie will compete for the entire game. And we will be able to watch an unbelievable talent. Hoping for a decent game but will not be surprised if it isn't close at the end. No injuries for either team. Go Big Blue!
  25. It will be fun to watch McCallie return to the days of hard hitting football. I have no idea if the Blue Tornado will be a good team or not, but I do know they will be a tougher and more disciplined team. I, for one, cannot wait for the season to start.
