My point was not to diminish the accomplishment of other coaches who have won a state title like Coach Barger or Coach Sisco or made multiple state appearances like Humboldt, but to merely shed spotlight on a coach who truly maximizes his team's potential regardless of their record. From what I have observed, he is not a motivator as some coaches as that gets their team up for the "big game" but he is a teacher of the game and convinces players of their roles on the team. Every player feels they should be "the man" but Coach Angelos, although blunt, makes his player realize their strengths and weaknesses and gets them to buy into the team concept that it takes to beat more talented teams. The best compliment that I can give him, is that he is a coach's coach. He does not seek the spotlight, does not look to run up the score against inferior competition, gives credit to the kids in victory, and takes the blame in losses. I just think because he is not a West TN native, he is not given the credit and respect that he truly deserves.
