  1. Yes they are, I have another son who plays for a younger "Tribe" team. He is 13. But anyways, I will bring him in for practice or something and EVERY time I see these two kids shooting and working on their games. They are not just going half speed and messing around. These guys get after it. And the most important thing of all...... They MAKE IT!
  2. That is true Orange but we are just curious to see some of the players that these two teams throw out on the floor to start out. But you are right, it matters who finishes the game.
  3. DB is just better. They are bigger, better shooters, better post, better chemistry, so this game is in DB's hands the whole way. Now we keep hearing guys say that NO team will go undefeated in the regular season. Well say DB beats Science Hill twice then please tell me WHO and HOW some other team is going to beat DB in conference play of the regular season.
  4. I also agree COMPLETELY with what AgentOrange said about the reason for them not seeing much varsity action was because DB had 3 senior laden players. Not just were these guys seniors.... but like he said two went to play college ball and 1 is now playing college football. I still think that these McConnell and Halvorsen who are 2 pure shooters/scorers will get it done. Behind Snapp of East, and Florence of Austin East.
  5. Yeah I agree with Agent Orange on this topic. In the history of Dobyns Bennett they have never really had any top notched shooters. So Charlie Morgan has been lenient with the "letting loose" he did due to that fact. But after watching them practice twice and perform in the summer camp at King I KNOW that Charlie Morgan will give the green light to these two juniors. I know because I saw them play and they can shoot from anywhere. Just my 2 cents.
  6. Yes but that is still Jayvee. I have seen both McConnell and Halvorsen light it up in a summer camp at King College where I helped to run the camp. And in these games that was varsity. As for Powers, then forget it, its THE best GAME shooters obviously. You have to be able to get the shot off to make it. He will get his stuff swatted all day long on the varsity level.
  7. All right fair enough. Hope to hear from him. Is he playing varsity this season?? AND YES! Wes Lambert is the player from Maryville that can shoot very well. Snapp is the top #1. And my #2 is tight after him. My #3 and #4 are close together. Then after that the rest of my guys are close and in a bundle.
  8. Speaking of lineups. Does anybody know what the starting lineups for both DB and Science Hill will look like??? MY guesses would be....... Science Hill pretty much has a set lineup since they didn't lose much. Science Hill 1. Josh Odem (6'3) 2. Chris Smith (6'2) 3. Danny Avery (6'1) 4. Ashlon Adams (6'6) 5. Dionte Gray (6'5) Hard to say about DB, so I will give a little mixture. Yall can tell me what it WILL be......... DB 1. Tramell ???last name??? (5'10) (maybe the kid from NY, dont really know much about him) 2. Sylvester (5'10) goes unsaid) 3. Todd Halvorsen(6'3)/Dustin McConnell(6'2)/Reid King (6'2--senior might get it) 4. Hardy(6'4?/6'5?)/Bronson Flack (6'9) (my guess is Flack but I heard bout Hardy?) 5. Edwards (6'7) goes unsaid) These are just some guesses?? Let's here your thoughts. And the rest of the starting lineups for the BIG 9 CONFERENCE.
  9. I will remember that...... but also remember that it is freshman basketball that you are talking about. There becomes a real difference in just spotting up and catching and shooting in freshman versus being able to work for your own shot off the dribble from 3. Also it is much easier when you got a guy coming at you that is at max 6'1 or 6'2 versus a MAN that is 6'6 or 6'7 in the varsity level. Also my grandmother could stand there with nobody guarding her and make 60 out of 100 three's. There is a big difference in shooting with nobody guarding you and in the lights of a game. The guys that I have given you are proven shooters. They have and will get it done in the lights. Only time will tell for this young kid. So for now I think I leave him off. But I will be waiting to hear from him.
  10. Here are my best shooters in ALL of EAST TENN. 1. Isaac Snapp (EAST) 2. Daryl Florence (Austin East) 3. Todd Halvorsen (DB) 4 Dustin McConnell (DB) 5. Maryville 2 guard forgot his last name. 6. Josh Odem (Science Hill) 7. Jason Seymore (Powell.. (I think)
  11. We have been talking about shooters for a while..... Now I wanna hear who the best shooters in EAST TENNESSEE are? Who can shoot it from outside? Give me your top 5.
  12. DB (Definite #1, they have talent up and down the lineup, COMPLETE all around team for Charlie Morgan) Science Hill (clear #2, but not as good DB) Then it gets to be anybody's chance TN HIGH (proven they get it done in the past) Volunteer (just b/c of style of play lesser teams will back down) Boone East (decent offense, but defense is pathetic) Central (will win some games at home b/c of fans, but on the road could lose some surprising games) Crockett (cant wait to see the Crockett vs. South game, I will definitely be there!) South (we are just AWFUL) The two best players in the conference are Keith Cradic and Dionte Grey. I would possibly throw in Justin Sylvester. But since the MVP should go to the best team I would give it to Sylvester. Dont be surprised to see Bronson Flack's name thrown in there by season's end. Look for Volunteer to knock of some teams that they shouldn't and lose some games that they shouldn't, that is why they are just in the middle of the pack for me. But Cradic will put them in a few games just because he is a good player. (notice I didn't say great) He plays great against poor defenders, but as soon as you stick a top notch defender like Chris Smith of Science Hill or Justin Sylvester or that zone of TN High he collapses. TN High plays that slow paced game so they can keep it close with anybody except of DB. DB has the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best shooters in the conference next to Isaac Snapp of East. They have Dustin McConell, Todd Halverson, and Justin Sylvester to light it up from outside and against that zone of TN HIGH which will beat them alone. They cant guard all of them. This is the real difference between Science Hill and DB. Science Hill has the best athletes in the conference but DB can score on ANYBODY. They have got a GREAT post game with Flack and others down low. Then they sport the shooters outside, who can light it up from ANYWHERE. My son played for a team last year and was on Jayvee. In the conference tournament I recall Halverson and McConell each scoring around twenty and having about 5 threes each. Now yes this is jayvee but these kids can shoot. Then we all saw what Justin Sylvester can do. That goes unsaid. Just wait and see. The Science Hill vs. Dobyns Bennett game will be a good one to watch. I believe that it will come down to the fact that DB is just bigger than Science Hill and they will control the boards. Science Hill is a much better defensive team than DB but there is no way that they can guard all of DB's scorers. If they go hard on the guards then they can't double down on the posts which have an average of 4 inches over each opposing player. Boone will have a strong returning cast with Nick Young but there offensive fire power will just not be enough to compete with those from the top. East has one of the best scorers in the conference with Isaac Snapp but with his team not being able to get much publicity not being one of the top teams he may not have much of a chance to win player of the year. Though he may be the best offensive player in the conference. But defense......... I am not going to mention my South Rebels, cause..... lets just say that we are happy with the football team. GO REBELS!!! MY BOLD PREDICTION BOTH Science Hill and DB make it to the State Tournament. Justin Sylvester wins MVP, and the BOLDEST of ALL Dobyns Bennett wins the state tournament. Its a stretch, but the other teams in 3aaa are down and this just might be a BIG 9 CONFERENCE teams year to win it all. And that might be Dobyns Bennett.
