  1. Out of state teams on bracket at this time are Rockcastle, Holy Name (Ohio), and Charlotte Christian.
  2. Landair Classic schedule posted at: http://greenevillesun.com/webmaster/2012/Bracket2012.pdf Can't wait!
  3. I can't remember if there has been a time when you couldn't figure out who the top 5 in the region, or at least the division by this time of the year! Grainger's win margin was surprising over what looked to be a strong Seymour team. Heck, it looks like come down to tourney time to figure out who'll be battling SH for #1, and that will one Goliath battle to win!
  4. I think you're right that Seymour will be in the IMAC top mix. Haven't had a chance to see Cocke County this year. How do they look? Too many unpredicted wins, close "almost wins", and unanticipated loses to predict at this point. I alway preach that depth is so important, and that is what impressed me so much about SH last year. Does the IMAC have teams that has a deep bench? Just wondering
  5. No I'm not challenging your rankings at all. I'm like you, sometimes I can't keep up with which girls that are seniors unless they're being scouted.
  6. I think everyone will agree with your first and second rankings. I think it's Science Hill's year for sure. Just wondering why you ranked Seymour, West, and East as the next three rankings in that order?
  7. Congratulations to Riverdale on a well deserved championship. Barbee is simply a beast. They have such a well rounded team that can play both ends of the court. Science Hill did a fantastic job coming back in the game, and their future looks so promising. I continue to be impressed at their "team ball" game and the quality of their coaching. Tarter was amazing and fearless today. All the SH girls played tough hussle ball. This is one of the hardest fought games I can remember, and both teams left everything on the court.
  8. Half-Time: SH continues to struggle, but never gives up. Let's see if they can get their shots to fall in the second half. Like how they are running the floor. Barbee is one tough player, and SH will have to contain her if they have a chance. Ref.'s - well even the commentators are questioning their calls on both ends of the court. Let's see if we can get a gold ball for East TN!
  9. Way to go SH for a hard fought win. Keep the pressure up and bring home the gold ball!
  10. Morristown East needs to be proud of how well they played today. Losing to a great Memphis team by only three points is heart breaking. IMO, the girls played hard and with heart, and their coach had a good game plan. Considering that several people had predicted that they would be run out of the gym, they played great. Be proud! East may be one of those upcoming power houses of the future in our area. Hoping that Science Hill will be in the W column tomorrow!
  11. Congratulations Science Hill and M. East! So glad we're having two AAA team represent us in the Boro this year. Play hard!
  12. I thought I remember at one time that there were minimum gym requirements, including number of seats, in order to host a regional playoff game. Did I imagine that? No AD or team can change their gym facilities, it is what it is and that is their home court. The facilities are really dictated literally by school boards and county budgets. My personal feelings is that hosting is a "perk" for the winning team. Question - Why should a team be denied using their own gym if they have earned that right? I would bet that almost all teams will welcome any improvements of their gym (and locker rooms I assume), except Grainger Co. facilities which are very nice.
  13. I'm not surprised that CD and Grainger made it through on top. You have to know the emotion the Frye's are playing and coaching with, and Grainger is just one of those teams that keep the pressure up to the last second. Good luck to both teams, and you know both teams are fired up! I think this has been an unusual year for Greeneville and SG, but they won't stay out of the top very long. I think AA ball in E. TN will always be a dog fight until the last buzzer of the last game of the season.
  14. West had their game a few years ago at WSCC, but they got beat anyway. Really, it's what happens on the floor that counts in the end.
  15. I think that East has had their up's and down's this year, but it is obvious that their new coach is rebuilding a good solid program. Got to give the East girls a thumbs up for their accomplishements this season. I do think that SH is the best, well-rounded with deep talent, and focused team that has came from this area in years. They have played team ball all year and concentrated on one game at a time. TommyMan, you usually don't react this strongly. Good luck to both of our AAA teams, and play hard!
  16. I think the final score was 55 to 45. If SH keeps getting better with each game, they will be a legitimate contender for the gold ball. Good luck and stay healthy. The tournament went well like always. Some local teams performed much better than expected, while other local teams struggled. Great competition as always.
  17. I agree from what I watched, just simple good team ball playing. The coach uses each player well, and doesn't revolve the team around one player. I've not watched their coach very much, but appears to be a good coach. Team seems hungry and not over confident. Good luck to SH!
  18. The AA competition is good here. There were a couple of definite power houses for years (with several players going full ride to college - some DI), but the dominance isn't there right now many reasons. However you can bet, due to the long standing rivalries, it will be a dog fight for most teams until the final buzzer. Right now, you could reasonably expect three (or possibly four) to come out on top of the BRAC at the end of the season. Come on up and watch!
  19. So do you think Science Hill is one of the best East TN teams you've watched for some time? I agree and I was truly impressed. I thought it was just determined and "gutsy" team play. Just curious, if you have a good knowledge of the SH team, what makes them so strong? I'd bet they're heading for the Boro.
  20. Science Hill looks like the strongest team I've watched from our area this year. Bob Jones is a great well-rounded team also. MJ is just so skilled and I predict they'll be in the finals. I'm a little surprised about East's loss by that score. Hated that nail biter loss for Coach Frye and CD. Overall, great tournament as always. Anxious to see where Wilson Central lands in the brackets. PHargis, I think that all teams in our "neck of the woods" are in tournaments within driving distance this year. Oh well, guess all the hype has died down now. At least you don't hear and see grand predictions all the time.
  21. Of course we have to pull for our hometown teams. I've not watched Science Hill play this year, but I hear they are seriously tough. Hate Science Hill and Bama square off so early in the tourney. Sounds like a tournament great lineup as always!
  22. Historically, I would agree. I just think that both Frye's want to make this final season as coach-mom and player something special. But as you know, anything can happen in the Greene County/Greeneville rivlary. The Classic will tell us a whole lot more. I still think that just one injury to a starter on any team could sway the whole district. I don't think any team is totally built around one "star", but they do have 3-4 key players from the teams I've watched play. Hey, we can be optomistic about the playoffs:)
  23. Coach - Why did you leave CD out in District 2? They are tied with Grainger for first place in BRAC - District 2. Can't understand how you can predict Greeneville above CD right now. Love to hear your reasoning.
  24. PHargis, Honestly, I don't know many of the answers about the tournament, and I'm not sure why I need to know. I can tell you that Ladies Classic is a well adminstered tournament and it runs smoothly. It also serves to allow our local teams to play against great competition from within and outside the state. Even when my girls played, I didn't ask all of those questions you've listed. Except for the playoffs, it is my favorite tournament. Our local teams often become better after playing against such good competition. It's fun to watch our primarily AA teams play against AAA teams. The sponsorship changed due to the sell of GreenBank and another local company (LandAir) thankfully picked up the sponsorship. Lastly, it provides good tourism dollars to our area. If you are that curious about the mechanics of the tournament, why not get on Facebook and ask there?
  25. First, thanks Trottercoach for the link. PHargis, not sure what you're talking about at all. The tournament is scheduled to be at Hal Henard Gym (from the posted brackets) like always, and Hal Henard is a public elementary school in the Greeneville City school system. Okay Region 1 & 2 folks, is the tournament at Hal Hernard again?
