  1. I din't see that coming. I felt that Midway was the best in the county, then this happened.
  2. Need water also. It ain't the x's and o's..........it's the jimmys and joes. Much wisdom in that statement. How good would OS girls have been the last few years w/o the likes of Hall, Monk, Christopher? Someone has to make shots. How good would Harriman have been in '94-'95 w/o Copeland and Boyd? How many hours has RCHS girls spent ON THEIR OWN working on ball handling/shooting/etc.?
  3. He saw the chase coming from behind his truck. He managed to block the road with his truck so that the chase would end. He was featured as top story on Knoxville's WBIR. May have a story @ WBIR.com for those interested. Oh, I think he plays in the state tourney Wednesday.
  4. I thought Wannamaker had a death in his family and 'had' to come to Knoxville to live with relatives. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I do not know the whole story but Slusher was suspended for a big part of the season. But when it got down to tourney time, he was reinstated. Like I say, I do not know the story but it does seem odd. Particularly if you are trying to send a kid a message about grades/attitude/etc. because it seems that the message is, "hope you learned a lesson, come help us advance farther than last year".JMO
  5. "Do away with" or change? I thought if they did anything, they would keep it and adjust it. Maybe a little up or a little down. Interesting. I would be against, but my vote is nothing more than an opinion.
  6. Wartburg wins by 25 over Rockwood Coalfield wins by 4 over Harriman Oakdale wins by 20 over Greenback No score on OS yet???? District 4 dominates.
  7. Soilder383(Soldier383) Here are my predictions. Unlike the ladies side of the tourney, this side is a toss-up. Rockwood@ Wartburg. Wartburg has hit their stride just in time for tourney time. Rockwood had their hearts ripped out by Harriman in the consolation game of their tourney. Pick: Wartburg Harriman @ Sunbright. Harriman has enough talent to win this one on the road, but due to some youth they sometimes play too inconsistently. Pick: Sunbright OS @ Grace Christian. Wow, this one will showcase some skilled offensive players in Schultz, Wannamaker, Slusher. The blueprint on how to control Schultz may have been laid in the tourney. But at the same time, Greenback held GCA to 0 points in the first quarter. Pick: OS Oneida @ Greenback. Greenback has played well most of the year and are back on the upswing. I don't know a lot about Oneida, but seems like King has rallied the troops and they are capable of scoring points by the bunches. Pick: Greenback
  8. I agree that District 4 is stronger, much stronger than district 3. But I won't count a couple of teams out. Rockwood @ Wartburg. Should be a win for the Dogs. Rockwood has really impressed me this year, especially since they have so much youth and inexperience. Oakdale @ Greenback. Greenback is a far cry from their past few teams, but still pulled the regular season and district title. Oakdale finished 4th in the tourney, but should win this game in a close one. Midway @ OS. OS is the best A team east of the plateau. They are not as good as last year and not nearly as much momentum going into the regions as last year, but will win this one with considerable ease. Coalfield @ Harriman. Coalfield beat OS during the regular season, which was OS's first district loss since the Carter administration it seems. But Harriman has played some good ball since Christmas. I will pick the Lady Devils in somewhat of an upset.
  9. Schools will make a faculty member the 'coach' , but have a parent coach the team. It circumvents the rule without breaking it. My suggestion is never have a parent of a current player coach the sport, it leaves a lot of doubt in people's minds. Fair or not.
  10. They will do well, bet your MONEY on it!
  11. The KNS has the score as 51-25 Rockwood. It was 37-10 after 3 quarters. There are a lot of familiar names missing from the Coalfield box score..............any info??? illness/injury/discipline????
  12. I believe that there are some detrimental attitudes on the team. However, I think every coach wants to win and will play the players that he/she believes give their team the best chance to do that. I hope the problem, whatever it is, gets corrected and Kingston can return to the level they used to be at.
  13. ""There were some interesting coaching decisions near the end of the game. I think that what happened on the out of bounds play is that Ogan thought (and so did I) that the ball had gone out of bounds on both players and a jumpball had been called and we had the arrow. In that case, it would not have been a dead ball. "" You can only run the end line on a made basket, a jump ball would make it a spot inbound.
  14. If you were heading from Knoxville to Oak Ridge via Pellissippi Parkway, HVA will be off the Hardin Valley exit to the left within a mile or so. I think they should have taken the name "Havoc" . Hardin Valley Havoc.
  15. You are right, the one I know of is not in Knox. He is in the surrounding area. And 'no'. He is not in Blount Co.
  16. I can't let the cat out of the bag with their names, but the 2 prominent ones are excellent coaches and may have accomplished about all they can at their current schools.
  17. I think there will be some 'big' names pop up after season is finished. I have knowledge of 3 coaches, not all in knox----- but in the surrounding area, that have state tourney appearances/state championships that are interested.
  18. Will Stephens be back for Powell? If not, when is he expected back?
  19. C.O.Y. I'll go with Davis at Wartburg. If for no other reason I expected Oakdale and OS to be where they are at, I didn't know if Wartburg would be in the top 4.
  20. I'll take OS by 7. Oakdale by 9. Coalfield by 13.
  21. much like their program, the threads are going nowhere-----so just put them out of their misery. Moderators are "Meigs-sensitive".
  22. I am not an 'insider'. Right now I could not tell you the current coach's name or ANY players. I knew of Coach Quirk and Haney. Quirk seems to be a decent guy, but was more concerned with why Central was getting players from schools on the Athens side of the county. Haney (and the administration) leaves a lot to be desired as far as 'hiring' goes. Maybe the current coach will bail them out for some dumb moves in the past and turn the program around. As far as "AA rules" goes, what step are you on in the 12-step program?
  23. I hope I didn't imply that I blame the players. I do blame the AD. And yes last year's coach was more worried about other teams than his own.
  24. Agreed. That's where the coaching is and due to the committment toward the program by the higher-ups @ McMinn.
