Well, it is gameday!!!! Playoff games in South Pittsburg are always a great atmosphere and I don't expect tonight to be disappointing. This should be a hard hitting football game with both sides bringing the wood. Gordonsville will hang tough but the Pirates will put them away in the 4th quarter....my prediction: Pirates 35 Tigers 21 GO PIRATES!!!!!!

Good to see you on here!! I know that this game was out of the ordinary for you. My brother was the starting fullback that year so I watched every Pirate game for 4 years and you never had a bad game like that one. Big brother told me several years later that ya'll were overlooking Gordonsville because of Greenback. You can't do that in the playoffs against good football teams. It probably did not help that SP beat Gordonsville the previous year when they were the #1 team in single A either. I hope this Pirate team will realize this after overlooking Polk Co in the regular season. Anyone can get beat on a given night so don't take any game lightly or you will be turning in your gear sooner than you want to.

This guy cracks me up! Probably has never seen Gordonsville play, does not know their team colors, or their mascot but just knows they will beat the Pirates. He needs to watch the film from the Boyd Buchanan game....the Pirates are a physical team we just did a poor job showing it against the slow Pokes. Glad that they did not win that game against Loudon because they would have really gotten embarrassed at Alcoa. How many rushing yards did the slow Pokes have against Loudon....-25??? It does not really matter that Polk beat the Pirates because we are still playing and Polk is not.

I believe uncle Dave is right unless this is a typo. December the 3rd is a Thursday on my calendar. Surely they have not moved the games to a Thursday.

I know I should not waste my time....BUT evidently you don't know anything about championship football. A good team got up off the mat after your polk county boys put it to them the first half of the ballgame and just about came back in a quarter. I would dare say if Polk had been down by 28 at halftime they would have never had a chance....Polk is still too slow and won't make it past the second round. Good luck against Loudon...you will need it. Just be glad you don't have to face the Pirates again this year....it would not be like the last game. One more thing....how can you be overrated when you are #1 in 1A and played the #3 team in 3A. I dare say that the Polk SlowCats would never play a top five ranked opponent 2 classifications above them and have any chance of winning....put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I don't know much about this Eagleville team. Who is their coach and what good teams have they played? That should give us all an idea whether they have a chance in this game....course it is the playoffs and strange things have happened before when the Pirates have not been focused.

We are one of the few teams that play up and win most of the games. I would say without a doubt other 1A teams would be mercy ruled by Boyd or Polk County. We SP fans have alot of PRIDE in our town and football team....some see it as being arrogance but it is not.

At least we play UP in classifications. Most 1A teams don't. SP and Trousdale have had a great rivalry....evidently you don't know anything about that because it is tied 3-3. There is no shame in losing to the eventual state champion late in the playoffs. Being 1-2 after playing against the #2 team in 2A and the #3 team in 3A is not shameful. Everybody that is on here busting on SP are jealous plain and simple. 3 loses in 3 season with a state title in nothing to hang your head about. Yes we are confident in our team and CROW about it, but most of it is all in fun. There are alot of people that just take it so serious. No their not jealous just sick and tired of hearing how every week is going to be a mercy rule game after the first quater. And tired of hearing S.P. is a little ol single A school. If the fans that get on here made more sense or had more humility about their predictions, people would not be on you after a loss that everyone saw coming. Being sick and tired is jealousy because 9 times out of 10, the predictions are true. Most of the comments made are in fun....fellars like you get too upset.

Blah, blah, refs cheated us even though we won....blah, blah, blah, clock operator cheated us....blah, blah, blah. Can't you boys be happy with a win??? The turnover and the Pirates getting within a touchdown are part of the game. Good excuse though that your boys "let" us score...what a joke. Yes, Terrell will be gone next year but the Pirates will just reload. One thing about it, Polk will have a year or two of good teams but will fade again...the Pirates have been good for several years and compete for the championship almost every year. Who cares about Alcoa....they are in 3A and SP is in 1A. We will see you next year and don't think the Pirates will be scared.

Your great defense could not stop Polk until the 4th and what happened to that unbelievable offense the first half! Just say we got spanked and this will be over, quit saying if we had done this or that in the first half we would have won...well guess what you didn't. If you take away T-Rob you guys might not...no you would not have scored! You won't here me say we got spanked....SP made a game of it when most would have layed down. Did you forget about #21, #11, and #90?? They all had a hand in our offensive production. All I can say is you would not want to play the Pirates again....bottom line. We will see who is hoisting that Gold Ball over their heads in a few weeks....I seriously doubt it will be Polk Co. It just cracks me up how a 3A fan can brag so much about beating a 1A team. We weren't scared of you this year and won't be next year.

Confidence? It sounds more like diarrhea of the mouth. And I stand by that quote as well. If Polk beat us 42-0 I would not. Your "great" defense had a hard time stopping the Pirates in the 2nd half. I respect the Polk team, but a few of the posters here on the board, I do not.

Good point about the touchdowns called back and the big plays that had a "late" flag coming out against Polk....especially when you consider that Polk has been one of the least penalized teams all season. It does make you wonder. You are a joke!! Anyone that can say those calls were not legit is either an idiot or a poor sport. If you are a Boyd fan, you don't have much to brag about anyway.

Alcoa is a powerhouse...no question. I do remember two years ago at Murfreesboro, several Alcoa fans watched our game and stated that they were glad we were in 1A because we would be a better opponent that what they would face. That was two years ago and this team plays a whole different offense. I believe SP could play with any one in the Chattanooga area...not beat them all....but play with them. I have not seen Alcoa play this year, but after dismantling Maryville early this year, I don't have any clue if we would even be able to stay on the field with them. If you can accept the truth, I can give you the answer. Alcoa could spot South Pitt 27 points at halftime, then come back in the second half and beat them. Yes, they are that good. We will never know, will we??? If and I mean IF the Pirates had played well the whole game, this one could have been a 3 or 4 td win. I would say if we had gotten Polk Co down by 3 or 4 tds, they would not have come back like our boys did.

I wouldn't say that....a whupping is beating somebody by several touchdowns. Yes, Polk was way ahead in the first half, but the mighty Pirates evened the score later in the game. The screen play was the difference. I would dare to say that any other 1A team would stay on the field with Polk Co. I am tired of hearing about the officiating. Both teams made mistakes and paid for them. I am sure if the Pirates had won it would have been a "home cooking" in some fans eyes.

I think we lose around 10 seniors??? Terrell, Malcolm Jones (21), and Fennell (90) will be key loses from this team. We should still be a good team next year...we always seem to have younger players step up each year. Good luck to Polk the rest of the year.

Oh, and one more thing....neither defense shut down the other offense. SP could not stop the hard running of the Polk backfield and Polk did not stop T Robinson...he had over 300 yards passing for the game. Where is Charger?? Do you still not think he is a good player?? I was very impressed with #30, #12, and the running back that kept running that dang trap play....we did not stop that play until the 4th quarter. The screen play was a great call and put the game pretty much out of reach.

Both teams brought it tonight...Polk proved us all wrong and the Pirates did not lay down when 90% of teams would have quit at halftime. I am proud of the Pirates for playing tough and giving it their all. Like I said, both teams will be better from this game. Next year's game is already circled on my calendar.

KL needs to get off his high horse and quit bashing other Pirate posters. There is no need for this type of thing. If you are a true fan, you will respect other people's opinion and stop bashing. If SP had won big you would have found something to gripe about. If you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all.

I will have to say that I was in shock at the end of the 1st quarter. Usually when the score is 21-0, it is the Pirates winning. The Pirates came out flat against a good team and just took a beating the first half. Polk's offensive line just dominated the defensive front the whole first half....and their defense did the same. This type of smack-you-in-the-mouth football is what I remember from the 80's but if it is ran to perfection like Polk did tonight, it is still effective. Point of it is, Polk won the first 3 quarters and the Pirates did not lay down and made a game of it. Polk deserves all the credit for the win and should make a good run in the playoffs. I hope everyone sees now how much a difference Terrell Robinson makes on this team. There are other atheletes, but the offense's success hinges on whether he plays well. He had a big night, but the three interceptions plus penalties doomed the Pirates. Good luck to the Polk County team the rest of the season. Games like this, win or lose make both teams better.
