Sequatchie Co. is at a 6-Way Scrimmage tomorrow morning beginning at 9AM at Tennessee Tech. Not sure who the other teams are?
They host Tyner Academy next Friday Aug. 3rd.
Indians wrap up spring practice today with a scrimmage hosting Clay County. Talked with an assist. coach who said that spring went really well despite missing 6-8 guys that were playing other sports.
Believed that there will be around 60-65 on roster when fall practice starts. A few guys are trying to talk others into joining this summer.
Lots of excitement seems to be building back around the program.
Former Indians Player & Sequatchie Graduate, Brandon Ashby will be coming home.
Coach Ashby will be joining Coach Wattenbarger's staff at Sequatchie Co.. Coach Ashby was the Defensive Coordinator at Stone memorial.
This past season could have been even better I didn't realize till the season was over that they lost 3 regular season games by one score South Pitt 28-21, York 20-14, Upperman 20-14 and then the 1st rd game at Red Bank 21-13.
It's possible Caine could end up being a great coach down the road this coming fall will only be his 4th season as a HC.
I didn't know that a offense player carrying the ball couldn't hurdle a defender? You see it all the time in college & Pro ball!
Ethan in fact has done that how many times in the past 4 years and never had a penalty called. Very picky by the ref on that. IMO
From about 5 minutes into the first quarter the game was pretty much played in a constant rain that alternated between light to a few times was a fairly heavy downpour.
It was rescheduled to tonight several weeks ago (had nothing to do with the weather) for whatever reason Cannon Co. doesn't have school on Friday (Fall break already?) so they didn't want to have to play on a day without school. Sequatchie plays in a couple of weeks on a Friday without school (Fall break).
Cannon only managed to have around 50-75 fans/students in the stands anyway.
The vast majority of Sequatchie's starters never saw the field in the second half thanks to Sequatchie (Sr.) receiver Cameron Weaver taking the opening 2nd half kickoff back 70-75 yards (I think) for the touchdown to put the Indians up 41-0.
The high school should have never agreed to move this game to Thursday night knowing the middle school had homecoming that night. Miscommunication?
Then I'm not sure if they did or not but the Middle School should have tried to move their game to next Monday or Tuesday evening after the HS game was moved.
