  1. Just because they're big doesn't mean they're good. They have 1 guy who's 300 pounds and the closest is 270. Then they have a couple guys who hit around 240 so I don't know what team you're looking at. As for the DL coach not having any knowledge, I believe he had a handful of guys from Hunters Lane the past several years get scholarships for football and I'm sure they were great athletes, but there had to be some good coaching involved with that. Even if there wasn't he obviously knew how to plug him into their system. The Burros will be fine and if they beat Centennial 2 Fridays from this Friday, they'll have another playoff berth and I wouldn't be surprised if they shocked some people in November through December. The talent and coaching is there, everyone just needs to get on the same page.
  2. Hillsboro is actually in their district now.
  3. I didn't see Hillsboro at Maplewood up there, but that should be a good one.
  4. Apparently there is a Green and Gold Scrimmage tomorrow at Hillsboro at 4:30.
  5. I kind of disagree. The papers have made it seem like Blade focused more on emotion and really didn't game plan and Moreno is the opposite of that. I agree with the fact that they are completely different on the emotion part, but Blade was a great strategist and had his guys prepared week in and week out. I'm looking forward to Moreno getting Spring Ball started. It should be Friday, right? Hopefully he'll get the players pads and jerseys early this week and have them out on the field running drills and learning the playbook. Oh, and you can't forget getting a staff in place. How likely is it that they scrimmage another team? I know they were suppose to scrimmage Wilson Central, but then Blade left so....?
  6. I think the easiest offense to defend is probably the I-Form. Most of the time it's gunna be given to the backfield and if it's not, it has a chance to go to the tight end. Really though, all schemes just depend on your personnel. Like BurroBall kind of said, when the Burros had all their players ready to go, they were extremely balanced and hard to contain/stop. But if we had wideouts who ran 5.2's and lineman who couldn't get out of their stance, the spread wouldn't have worked at all.
  7. Blade ran the spread because that was the type of offense and plays he hated and gave him trouble as a defensive guy, so I think that spread's probably not the easiest offense to defend. Moreno is going to have the Burros ready with whatever offense he plans to implement, but I heard he likes what Blade did with the O and plans to keep it that way for the most part.
  8. Exactly, I don't see the Burros having to big of a tree to climb if they work hard to make up for last time when they get this new coach (and he also knows what he's doing). It took forever to get practice going with Blade because he was out of state and not from here and had to get situated. Most likely this head coach is going to be from here and could of been hired a while ago. It's probably just Metro once again dropping the ball and putting things off until they have to be dealt with.

  10. That's true. It just depends on how complex certain aspects are and the time restraint. If the new coach was hired tomorrow and came in, the kids would be fine, but if the Burros' don't have a spring ball and no play book and get into the summer then it's going to be rough on them. I've heard Blade say his first year at Hillsboro coming in the summer, he didn't teach all of the plays he wanted and stuck to the more simple things, so they could know what they were doing and be able to concentrate on less plays (he probably runs one of the more complex/varied/detailed offenses in Tennessee though). I just have a feeling this new coach won't be in till May and if that's the case, Hillsboro needs their guys who are actually going to contribute next year to work their butt's off not only in the weight room and on the field, but in the film room and on the board.
  11. It doesn't even look like they're going by convenience, because Coach K would easily be the most convenient canidate for the job. Whoever gets it I hope they don't come in and try to install every single play in their playbook with their new system, but instead just get the basic idea down, and some simple "bread and butter" plays and the Burros should be fine. No easy Metro schedule this year, it's gunna be the best of the best week in, week out.
  12. Coach Fite and K are running the conditioning program, and the kids are still working hard. I have no idea about the coaching situation. I remember last year that Glencliff was kind of in the same position and they announced their head coach during spring break, so I suspect it to happen during that time period.
  13. They said they heard Whites Creek and also Cane Ridge.
  14. From what I heard the Maplewood/Hillsboro rivalry will continue this year. A parent told me they heard they play week 1.
