  1. I'm not an expert, but i don't think that's the case. i looked on the school district's website, but couldn't find any policies on residency and enrollment. I know when I registered my kids in bedford county schools, i had to provide two different proofs of address. it is true that all Bedford County schools are open to any student who is a resident of the county (meaning, my child could be zoned for Cascade, but can choose to attend either Shelbyville Central or Community High School, as long as I am willing to provide transportation). the zoning really only applies to the bus routes. but i don't think that "open school" policy applies to non-Bedford county residents. The exception, i would think, would be if a child's parent worked for the school district, for example, some people in nearby Coffee county are teachers in Bedford county schools. Sorry I can't offer a more definitive answer...this is just my opinion based on what I've personally experienced here.
  2. Thats the point kids from all over the state and country in some cases were ready to move in and put shelbyville back on top. Coach Clark will be lucky to keep the kids she has. From what I hear Cascade is about to get some transfers. LOL....When has Shelbyville ever had Shelbyville kids??? as far as i know all of the current players have lived in bedford county since alteast their pre-middle school days. there are no transplants that i can think of. a sure sign of whether AC makes a good coach will be for her to be successful with the girls who have grown up here, versus her ability to draw in transplants from across the country, as some have suggested TI would have done.
  3. LOL! i seriously doubt that! you just made me laugh, smitty! thanks for that.
  4. well smitty, since SHELBYVILLE is where you are proposing he should be the new coach, unless girls from CALIFORNIA or ILLINOIS are planning to move to SHELBYVILLE, SHELBYVILLE girls are the only ones that matter in this discussion.
  5. i said former because there are currently girls on SCHS that played aau for TI in recent years but no longer do. as for current players "choosing" to play for his organization...not sure how it works in other programs but in shelbyville, burkey "chose" for the girls where they would play aau. i'm assuming it was much the same when RI was here.
  6. smitty33, i can just about assure you that TI would not have experienced the success you seem to think he would. the Eaglette players, which include many of his current/former aau players, think he's a joke. there is no respect there. if teenage girls don't respect you, they won't play for you. from what i hear, the team - you know...the girls that have to work their tails off day in and day out to make it happen on the floor from November through March - they all were pulling for AC. its no secret that the perception across middle TN is that the Eaglette program has taken a nosedive in the last 5 years. I believe the talent and desire to rebuild this storied program is there...the only thing lacking is inspiration. the girls don't believe they can get that back. it just may take a former Eaglette who lived it on the floor to provide the spark to make it happen. as a Bedford county resident, i for one am looking forward to seeing the Eaglettes back on top with AC at the helm!
  7. there is a team meeting called for tomorrow morning. announcement should be made shortly after that.
  8. My understanding is that Harlow has been running the Eaglette practices this week, so I assume he will be at the helm for the upcoming camp as well.
  9. The BCC is still listed on the schedule, 12/27 and 12/28, and I haven't heard about it being cancelled. As far as I know, it's still on, though, I haven't seen a more detailed schedule for the tournament yet.
  10. I believe I was at this game - or one very similar to it. Cascade Middle's coach was Teed for saying "It's 10 fouls to 1". No screaming or name calling. Just "It's 10 fouls to 1". I was sitting right behind their bench.
  11. You heard right. http://www.t-g.com/story/1293759.html
