  1. hcolinedad thanks for responding. You see things the same way i do, maybe Coach Swenson will get a couple tougher teams this year. Playing Goodpasture or DCA (or even both) would do wonders for our team. I'm just wondering if you know the scoop on this years crop of Freshmen? ( I haven't been watching eighth graders or JV games like I should) Anyone who you think can really step up from the JV or Freshman crop? I think we have a shot to make it to the playoffs again...but the goal should be State..not just making the playoffs...we need to start working harder with our Little league and Middle School teams.
  2. It is possible that this year one of the East Tennessee "juggernaut's" doesn't win state. (I thought I would get a good rise out of this post) Maybe one of these teams(Alcoa or Maryville) will get "boatraced" in the Boro.... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  3. If we the HC Bulldogs ever want to contend for a state title the program is going to have to step up. I don't want people to think that this year "we just got lucky." The better teams we play the better we will be. I'm just tired of East Tennessee thinking the own the state of Tennessee in football...but right now they do. They get on here talk their smack and think they are Superman....well as everyone knows.....Superman can be defeated...its just our job to step it up. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  4. I'm so tired of hearing this...So GP should just stay home since there is no way they can win this game? Come on man thats why you "play the game". This has been the year of the upset in college football....maybe its time for an upset in High School Football.
  5. More teams in the 6-2A district should "schedule up". Lewis Co played five teams this year that went to the playoffs. Hickaman,Fairview,Richland(from their own district). Then two teams from the "non-district" schedule, Mt. Pleasant and Wayne Co. (Both 1A schools). But the other two "non-district" games where 0-10 teams. Ezell Harding and Waverly. (East Hickman was also 0-10..so that brings the total to 3!!)
  6. I believe for our team to get better and for our young men to get use to "big game" atmosphere I think we need to "schedule up". Some may not like this idea in fear of losing some of these games, if we play better schools. Everyone should keep in mind...the only games that really matter are the district games and where you finish in your district. So the four games we have to play "out of district teams" we could play some really good schools and get our team ready for "big game situations". District 6-2A Lewis* Fairview* Richland* Harpeth Loretto E. Hickman total record 26-37 East Robertson(2A) Marshall County(3A)* Waverly(2A) Lawrence Co.(4A) total record 15-26 (all teams with * are playoff teams) So what if we take and replace East Robertson,Waverly and Lawrence Co. with maybe Goodpasture,DCA and Huntingdon/Camden?
  7. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on any good sophomore or freshman players for 08? Does anyone know if DJ Key will be the QB in 08? And if so will Scott Sowell be the main RB and Marcus Grimes maybe a WR? Who is going to step up and take Cody's spot? Lets get this thread rolling.... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. interesting points...i'm going to sit back and enjoy the explosin by Maryville lovers..... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  9. Just wondering if there are any sites that has film you can watch of teams? Just wondering
  10. This is a good point made by DANR. When HC played GP Friday night we put #3 D.J. Key in at QB in the 4th quarter. He had good success running against GP when he got the snap. He rushed 9 times for 81 yards and a TD in the 4th. So if Peabody has a good QB that can RUN with the ball GP may be in for a long night.
  11. mbsdude lets not group all HC fans into the same group here. If you will see my earlier post I agree with people on here that if HC want to contine to be a good 2A school and continue to make it to the playoffs they are going to have to "schedule up". I guess some HC fans are bitter that we lost to a private school. I'm not.. Thats why we have to take what we have learned...use it...and get ready for 08'. We are not the only public school to play a private school. I understand both sides of the debate.
  12. I am a fan and supporter of HC Bulldogs and I'm afraid I have to agree with rcombs on this one. I believe if Coach Swenson can schedule a meeting with Milan, Huntingdon,Camden or even Goodpasture(or even two of the four) and start scheduling up to get ready for the depth and talent of private schools and also the playoff teams, It would get the team ready for "bigger" games and they would be much better prepared for teams like these in the playoffs. 13. This will be Alcoa's toughest game to date in this years playoffs. I would like to see the underdogs DCA win. It will be a real test for Alcoa. I see Alcoa winning a closer game than most people think..a real squeaker... Alcoa - 27 DCA - 21 If DCA can control the clock and capitalize on turnovers they may pull the big upset.
  14. rcombs now thats just a great post there...I haven't seen Peabody play. I'm sure they are a great team but I see GP pulling this one out in a very tight game. (Cunningham is as quick as i have seen this year..super fast) Everyone keeps talking about ALCOA ALCOA the machine they are...any team on any given day can be beat. What is Alcoa's record? O yeah thats right they have LOST this year..I wouldn't seal the deal and give the 2A title to Alcoa until they win it...if they can.
  15. I have been reading the message boards here for awhile now but i've never posted. And i thought that now would be the perfect time for my first post. Last night the Hickman County Bulldogs lost a very tough game to Goodpasture. (Congrad's to Goodpasture). I just wanted to say that i believe i can speak for the whole county when i say...I'm proud to be a Bulldog. Just like coach Swenson has stated. "We have 170lb lineman vs 250+ lineman. They may outweigh us...but we have more HEART". As far as Coach Swenson goes I know HC will do everything they can to keep Coach Swenson here. Our young men at HC showed great intensity, integrity, sportsmanship all year. They finsih the year 11-2 and made it to the third round of the playoffs. Instead of hanging their heads in defeat, they should keep their heads up for they should be proud. I know i am....
