I will comment on 2 things and then I am done. Number one we were not scared of Watertown's pitching. The reason we didn't get to play them is my schedule was full before Coach Lutrell and I were able to get together to schedule. He was involved in basketball and started scheduling late. I did call him however and we couldn't work out a days to play. We loved to play against Watertown win or lose we have always had close games and for one of the team to come on here and rip RBS for no reason is classless. Number 2 Matt Heady played for the Wilson Sox a 15-year old team.
  2. It is amazing to see the community at work in Macon County. The Asberry's suffered a terrible loss of their home and personal things. Within a day's time people in the community are doing whatever they can to help. I am sure they appreciate that and also appreciate the people in Macon County that have helped already or will continue to help them. Hope will have no problem playing ball. She has a great family behind her, she may take one step back for the next couple of weeks but watch out. After that she will knock the door down with the help and support of her family.
  3. Coach Boles will do an excellent job with this team. The community will rally behind Tony. He is a RBS graduate. He has great people skills and I think he will get more of the athletes to come out for the team. He is very personable. Let me further say that I am not downing Coach Cadle, I am simply saying giving Tony the respect he deserves.
  4. I would like to see an RBS schedule. Post it on coacht. Would like to work it in where I can see them play.

    RBS?

Last I email Coach Alphabet he was doing great in potato country. I tell him you said hello. You can email me at melrod@monroe.k12.ky.us. And Mario takes the corner hard.

    RBS?

Ball Man, You are right. Our team had to work extremely hard to get anything that we had. And from reading the paper more money has actually been spent on football $36,000 on paving. Man what I could have done with that kind of money. If you want to know the truth softball is the most successful program at that school. I will always cheer for the red and grey (except when we play them). HAHAHA! Sorry I got my shorts in a wad.

    RBS?

Cobracoach, Whoever told you that I left for pay is wrong. My coaching supplement is actually lower in Monroe County. I left to be in the same system as my family. And also the fundraising aspects of coaching in Monroe are alot less. And to address TNBALLMAN it is not only a basketball school. The baseball team over the past three years has had a much better record and standing than the basketball team. I am proud that the basketball team is doing well this year but that is the only sport that the people in RBS want to support. When I was there I always supported every team male or female. I always want every team to be successful. And I continue to have that wish for RBS. I hope all of this works out.

    RBS?

Just to let you know. I have never known Coach Owens to tell his basketball players not to play football, they just chose not to. And I never told any of the baseball players while I was there not to play. I think both of us tried to encourage players to play. Again the players chose not to play on their own not by what anyone was telling them.
  9. I believe RBS is looking for a head football coach. I read in the local paper Tuesday that Coach Cadle was fired by Mr. Prock. I do believe however they will probably fill the position in house. But they have always interviewed for the job.
  10. McCoy was fine at the end of the season as far as I knew. He didn't play any this past summer so where did he throw it out at. I hope you are not say that we messed his arm up because that is not true at all. He didn't pitch for almost two weeks of the season last year because his arm was sore. What kind of message are you giving to 5. McCoy never pitched 14 innings in 2 days. By the way he looked pretty good in the game against Monterey no sore arm there. That was his last pitching performance of the year last season.

Thanks, Muffin for the comments. I wish I could have brought them all with me. That would have made the job perfect. They will do fine as long as the new players mesh instead of tear apart.

Matt is a quality young man that has a bright future ahead of him. Very well mannered and well discplined. Matt came straight out of Little League and earned the starting spot at third base his 8th grade. Also there are other quality kids on RBS Clark, Mason, Hudson, Halliburton, Watson are all working on their third year starting if other that come in can help they should have a good year.
  13. I think you mean 210 pounds. You are right this kid is a player. Had a great game against us last season. Very hard to pitch to. I wish him best of luck.
  14. Matt Heady from Red Boiling Springs will be a solid pitcher in A ball. Has an excellent head on his shoulders and has great mechanics. His dad taught him excellent mechanics at an early age. Should be one of the top if not the top pitcher in 7A. He also has command of three pitches, really places the ball well.
  15. How is Monterey? I know they have several big players gone. But I think they always come to play in whatever sport they compete in. Who is handyy this year HAHA! It was Peters most of the time last year

So far alot of talk on here about Clarkrange, Celina and RBS all will be in the thick of things but everybody is leaving out Monterey. The way I look at it they are still king of the mountain until someone knocks them off. And so far none of us have been able to knock them off of the mountain. They have some big shoes to fill but they always seem to have great talent and coaching. They have also added a new assistant.

We didn't lose to Celina 4 times in the last 3 years. We only lost to them twice. Once 3 years ago and once last season. I am not going to get into but there are the facts. I cannot believe that I would get negative feedback(or maybe I can) for the job that was done over the past 8 years both by the players and coaches. I do wish the Bulldogs the best of luck always and that will never change. RBS hadn't even had the opportunity to go to the regional tournament before we did that 3 years ago. That is something words can never take away. Some folks are bitter because I took the job in Monroe. Sometimes coaching is not the most important aspect of a teaching job, coaching alone sure doesn't pay the bills. District 7A will be a dogfight this season. Most every team has some good pitching back and alot of players. It should be real interesting to watch. There are no give me games for the teams in the district so they better come to play every game.
  18. I had some experience with the Baseball Factory. Had 3 kids that went to Chattanooga. I was impressed with the way they work the kids out and evaluate them. There is also a kid from Monroe County that is going to Arizona to finish his third tryout. He will receive several letters to colleges, video tape and recommendations. I think it is legitimate deal.
  19. You can e-mail me at melrod@monroe.k12.ky.us. Or you can call Monroe County Middle School at 270-487-9624 or 9625.
  20. I would said you will coach when all is said and done. That is what I respect about you and your program. You play anybody that will schedule you. Good Luck to the Yellow Jackets this season.
  21. Hall is a very good player. He has a great swing and hit the ball hard against us last season. He also caught a great game if this is the young man I am thinking of.
  22. Rick Spivey is an excellent coach and does a good job with his discipline. I don't understand how muffin can say that he doesn't. Their son never played for Rick.
  23. Michael, I wish you the best of luck this year and hope you are able to continue your playing on the college level. One word of advice and you can take it with a grain of salt. Try not to throw so many innings in so few days. I could tell when you pitched against us in both games that your arms was very very sore. You put on a great show and you were still very effective. But doing that will give you problems down the road. I am not questioning your coaches but I wish they would give you more days off and maybe find another pitcher to throw in the district tournament so that you and Bowman will not have to pitch 14-17 innings in 2 days like you did last season. Best of luck to you and if you need a recomendation just let me know. Coach Elrod. I am now coaching at Monroe County Middle School in KY if you need to talk to me. Or you can e-mail me at melrod@monroe.k12.ky.us.
  24. Lindsay played her high school ball at Red Boiling Springs.
  25. Well Lindsay all of the hard work and many hours you spent throwing has paid off good luck at APSU they are getting a quality player and person good luck always. Coach E.
