  1. WHAT IF only 10 on the football team, 1 on baseball team, 2 on softball team, 1 basketball team etc etc etc. How can I agree with you that schools recruit when you begin your post with "LET'S SAY.......
  2. FHS better cover RHS #7 Gilroy tonight. He is their best playmaker and FHS defensive coordinator should take note. NOTE - I used webster dictionary to write this post.
  3. so to speculate who on anyones starting team is or isn't receiving aid would be presumptuous at best. I agree 100%. I can only speculate as most posters.
  4. but it seems to me the TSSAA is endorsing it through archaic rules. It`s time the TSSAA addresses this IMO. High school coaches have visited Jr. high/Middle schools for years. Coaches know there is a fine line between recruiting and promoting thier football program. The TSSAA needs to better define the rules and set some straight forward guidelines versus the undue influence non-sense. When a private school coach visits a public middle school, eyebrows are raised. Would it draw as much attention if a public school coach showed up at a private middle school?
  5. From the NAIS web site - Need-based Financial Aid How much aid is available? For the academic year 2005-06, 972 National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) members awarded $957.7 million in financial aid. These same schools reported that 18.7 percent of their students received some financial aid. The average award for boarding schools was $17,295 and for day schools, $9,232. So lets just say 19% of the football team receive need-based financial aid. BA roster of 100 players means 19 recieve need-based financial aid on average. The school administrators and coaches do not determine which student gets the aid. The parents application, not the students 40 yard dash time, goes to a "clearing house" where the student with the most need gets the aid. Most aid is capped around 75% of the tutition. Parents will still pay for books and meals.
  6. BA went to bat for their first amendment rights representing all independent schools in America. So I would think the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) will help out with legal fees.
  7. If you can't add something worth reading about the topic, GO AWAY. Go play on facebook - Clown.
  8. Private would play Private and Public would play Public.
  9. In the near future there will be a new regulatory association in Tennessee for Private Schools and the TSSAA will loose all DII schools. The private/public debate will end and everyone from Ronnie Carter to Private school Board of Trustees will be happy. The fans will loose out. No more McCallie vs Franklin, BA vs Ravenwood, BGA vs. Page, Ensworth vs. Brentwood etc.
  10. Ronnie Carter and the TSSAA will soon have their wish and just regulate D1 schools, when the DII schools form their on DII Association. Then you will never see game like Franklin vs. McCallie, BA vs BHS, MBA vs Indy, Ensworth vs Ravenwood etc. What a shame that will be.
  11. State of TN has some great high school football teams. MBA is one of them.
  12. If he wants a future great flute player he would..... Private high schools don't have the luxury of drawing great flute players from 2 or 3 middle schools. Usually it is just one or none. So that band director would need to get out to surrounding middle schools to check out the talent, or be faced with a crappy band.
  13. BA 10 McCallie 7. Offense not clicking for BA. BA Defense will step-up and play with more heart than the last week. Potter will not be out coached by old team.
  14. My son recently got called by 4 "Division III"football coaches with full scholarship offers, new JAG, Free tics to all Titan games and free Nike wrist bands. Can you beat that? Private schools provide "Financial Aid" to supplement the parents tutition. The applications are sent to a "Clearing House". The clearing house decides who gets the financial aid and how much. Private school administrators have no say who gets the aid. If the flute players family has a greater need for the aid than the running back family, then the flute player gets the aid. Private school programs (sports, fine arts, etc) recruit prospective students because of thier success, and kids want to be part of a successful program.
  15. TSSAA keeping that iron fist tight. Also if you plan on taping the game you will need to get Uncle Ronnie's(TSSAA) permission plus a small fee. If you have already taped a playoff game you will be billed soon.
