  1. Yea I never had a clear view of it and I didn't feel like it had nearly as big of an impact as the red-zone fumble or the onside kick anyway, which I could clearly see where bad calls. I couldn't tell if the calls were biased or if the officials just had no clue what was going on for a game.
  2. All I know is Bearden and Smyrna do have the right to complain about the refs, because I was at that game and it WAS horribly officiated all around. There were many terrible ball spots, a couple unnecessary flags, bad calls on complete/incomplete catches (besides the TD out of bounds catch), more than 1 missed call on possession, among all this were plenty of holding, passing interference, ect. flags there were never thrown. This was all around and I don't know if it would've changed the winner but in my opinion, both teams are ok to complain about the refs. Seemed to me like the fans were more outraged about the red zone fumble and onside kick call, rather than the receiver out of bounds call. Also it looked to me like the refs refused to explain their calls or simply what was happening to the caoches. Several times I saw coaches signaling for the refs to come tell them what was going on and the refs flatly ignoring them. Does the losing team have the right to complain about reffing? I'm not sure, but I do know both teams should complain about that game imparticular. I hope they inform TSSAA for future games.
  3. I was at this game and can honestly say I don't have a clue who should've won because it was officiated pretty horribly all around. It is very disapointing that TSSAA couldn't find anyone better to ref at this level of play-off's. Yes Bearden got the worst of it, but I don't know how it would've played it if the right calls were made anyway. With that said way to go Bearden on this fantastic year, you all did great and made many people proud. Atleast you played your hearts out, the cards didn't play your way, and you've no regrets. Also good luck Smyrna, you obviously have a very talented and tough group of players. Go see if you can't repeat last year.
  4. Ok from the film I've seen Smyrna's offensive scheme is to run wheels and crosses (where they can bump zone coverage defenders before the ball is thrown) until the other team is forced to play man. Once they get them playing man they can throw to Wilks all day. They can then mix in runs and screens to gain some yards once the other team is focused on those WR's. I don't suppose they will change it seeing as it has been so successful and it should be interesting to see what Bearden does in order to defend it. While on the other hand Beardens plays old school running football with the occaisonal pass. These two seem like complete opposites in scheme and I'm sure both will play with tons of heart and class, a great game. As far as what 82cat said (too long to quote) doesn't the defense generally play less down lineman than the offense? meaning they will have more people in coverage and the offense will have less eligible recievers, giving the defense a more than 1 man coverage advantage? Anyhow I also think cheating a safety or bringing double coverage doesn't take players out of the play (even if it's a run) but that's just me.
  5. I believe there is very little of Bearden football on the internet, period. If you are even able to find pics I would consider that a feat. Anyhow as far a films and videos go you can about forget about it, and anything you do find I doubt would be from this season.
  6. Ok I say Sterling top 5 but I also don't think yards necessarily determines an all-time great you simply have to see them play because evryone gets pulled out of games or misses them and that sort of thing. Whether the coach decides to run up the score or not shouldn't help determine it and I am sure the other great RB's out of Tennessee had the same sort of deals. As far as college goes I can see why some colleges may not recruit him heavily, but at the same time I think he should be looked at for his talent and given a chance to mature into college level football, and yes I do think he (as many other players do) will have to make a change of attitude on the field if he wants to play college ball. I do hope I get the chance to see him playing again in college, definately fun to watch.
  7. If you don't think this game will be a close one you are obviously biased. This is a toss up. Just getting to this level shows that both schools have great teams, and being this far into play-offs both teams will play very hard and should be expected to bring their best games. I wouldn't doubt either team for any reason and Bearden may not have the school history but I would expect them to compete just as hard and well as any other contender left in this thing. As for Smyrna they always seem to have a good team and have been here before. With that said expect this game to be a close one decided by a play or two in the end simply because one HAS to come away a with a W and one HAS to come away with a L. I say Smyrna-24 Bearden-27 in OT (Smyrna kicks field goal and Bearden gets T.D. without kicking the PAT.) I am eager to see this slugfest and good luck to both teams with an injury free game.
  8. Just wanted to say Congrats to Bearden on beating out a good Farragut team. Also props for finding Sterlings Kryponite and holding him to 88 yards, very impressive. I can't wait to see the game against Smyrna it should be very intense and fun to watch. It doesn't matter how dirty Andre has played in his high school career he is just a kid, give him time to mature before you give him so much heck, and I mean that for all the high school players remember they are just kids. irony.
