  1. First of all, Todd Smith scored 12 points in the game so he was definitely involved. Dunn's ego is not a problem. He is a team player. He passed up open looks in the first half to try to get his teammates going. You have probably only seen him play two times this year and are trying to judge him on that. I honestly believe he'll play Division 1 basketball but it doesn't matter what you and I think. I thought this was a well played game until the 4th quarter when Pickett got a little frustrated. Nothing wrong with it because it only shows they wanted to win this one badly. They just aren't good enough to hang with LA for 4 quarters. And I don't understand why you criticize Logan and Gibson. They both scored 7 points which is about where they need to be. Plus, Gibson had to guard Dunn which obviously affects your ability to be as affective on the offensive end. These two guys are not the problem. Pickett just doesn't have any depth after the first 4. There is always a weak link for them on the court and it catches up to you against teams like LA and Clay County.
  2. I'm surprised about the lack of attention this game got. For those who were unable to attend, this game was tied 26-26 at halftime. Pickett scored the first 4 of the 3rd quarter and then it was all LA. T.J. Smith made three 3's in a row to begin a 14-0 run for LA. Pickett never got closer than 6-8 points. Chase Dunn and T.J. Smith both scored 22 points. Dunn had 19 in the 2nd half. Capps had 25 and Wright 18 for the Bobcats. I was impressed with Pickett County last night. They have a chance to go a long way this season. Capps played really well. He is the key to their team. LA showed that Wright can easily be contained with a good defensive player on him. Dunn proved last night who is the better of the two.
  3. Speaking of Adrian West, I am going to copy and paste the post I made in another thread but that one has been closed so I won't get an answer from that thread. Thanks for the help. Was it just me or did the one of the officials incorrectly record a foul that should have been on Adrian West in the 2nd quarter? West had 2 fouls at the time and looked to be whistled for a 3rd but the official went to the scorers table and said the foul was on Blue #2, or so it appeared to me. The scorer gave the foul to #22 Sells. If anyone saw this, maybe you could help to clear it up for me.
  4. I know I'm a little late but this was a great game between two very good teams who are well-coached. Livingston seems to be improving as the season goes along which is what you would expect out of a young team. They could be very dangerous come tournament time. Jackson County has nothing to be ashamed of with the outcome of this game. A loss is probably going to better for them in the long run. Also, was it just me or did the one of the officials incorrectly record a foul that should have been on Adrian West in the 2nd quarter? 5. WOW! That is the first time I have ever seen anyone question Dunn's heart. I've heard some negative things said about him but no one has ever said he didn't care as much for his team. He is definitely a better option than Wright if you were going to a so-called "basketball war." What is that anyway? You missed my point about Dunn playing for Pickett instead of Wright. Dunn would not have been that cold. He never shoots the ball that poorly. And that's because he is the hardest worker I have seen at LA in a long time. I would argue that he actually cares more for his team with the AAU thing. He plays against the best players in the country and this makes him a better player which benefits his high school team. Call Wright a better player if you want, but don't say that he wants it more than Dunn. Dunn would be averaging over 30 points a game if he was on Pickett's team playing against single A teams. He is the better player, and he is younger than Wright. I have seen both play many times over the years and I'll take Dunn over Wright. That is not a knock on Wright because he is a very good high school player, but he is not in Dunn's league. I didn't realize Case and Bibb got into an alteration last year. Please tell me more about this. I can't believe I haven't heard about this before now.
  6. So you knew that Pickett County was going to lose as soon as you saw that Case was an official? That is one of the most ignorant comments I have ever read. Case is one of the better officials in the area and he is not out to hurt Pickett County. In fact, I would guess that more fouls were called on LA in the game than on Pickett. And Capps playing would not have affected the outcome of the game. He's a good player, but he doesn't impact games that way you make him out to. Again, I can't argue about how athletic White County is because I haven't seen them. I'll take your word for it. But we beat you a lot worse than White County did. Don't forget that. Wright is a very good player, but he is not in Dunn's league. Dunn gets his points against much better competition. He is able to create his own shot better than Wright and is also a better passer. Dunn does a better job of getting his teammates involved. You swap Dunn and Wright and Pickett wins the game against Clay County.
  7. But you did question Bibb being a great coach and that is why I got involved in this thread. You can't deny that. You said that he was to blame for the loss because he was unable to adjust to the other coach. I'd like to see you say that to his face. And Pickett County did miss some wide open 12 footers. They also missed free throws. I haven't seen White County play this year but I did last season. They are an athletic team but that is getting us off topic. Being a neutral fan at the game, I realized that Clay County's players are as good as Pickett's. And then the game is on Clay's homecourt so it was no surprise that they won the game. Well I'm sure my Wildcats are sad because they aren't what you would "classify" as athletic. I would like to see your definition of athletic. And about the LA-Pickett game earlier this season. Ramsey, West, and Todd Smith were in foul trouble the entire game. Livingston is 20 points better than Pickett this season. If you don't believe me, just wait until you come to Hogeye. It will be ugly for you and your Bobcats when they are thumped by an "unathletic" team.
  8. So when the players can't make wide open shots, it is the coach's responsibility to design plays where his team can get a layup every possession? Why don't you help Bibb out with that. Clay County was actually playing defense. And it's obvious you weren't at the Pickett County game when Livingston beat your Bobcats by 20+ on your home court. The Wildcats, my friend, are the most athletic team Pickett has played. If you don't believe me, then just wait till you all get another dose next month.
  9. With my Wildcats being off last night, I was able to go and see this game. I knew it would be a good one. Pickett County played well but Clay County just had too much last night. I was really impressed with Clay County. 7asuperfan, you are completely wrong about Coach Bibb. He put his players in great situations last night, they just couldn't make their open looks. That is not the coaches fault! I lost count of how many open looks Pickett missed last night. How are you blaming that on Bibb? I think you need to blame this one on the players and not the coach. I am very familiar with Bibb and his abilities as he coached at Livingston for a year and have watched him some at Pickett County. And I think it's safe to say that he knows a lot more about basketball than you and pretty much every poster on this site, for that matter. Clay County was better last night. Pickett's talent level is not near as good as it has been in the past.
  10. You are correct OldCatFan about this being an ugly game. Neither team played their best but LA just has too much talent. York has a good club this year and will improve over the course of the season. I look for them to make some noise come tournament time. You just can't say enough about Chase Dunn. The kid is probably the best pound-for-pound player in the state. He scored 34 and T.J. Smith added 20. That's a great 1-2 punch but we definitely need some other guys to step up on offense.
  11. These two teams have something in common. They both drilled Pickett County in Byrdstown. York has a good team this year, but LA is too strong. I'm going to pick my Cats by 16. Just no answer for Dunn.
  12. Clarkrange: 7 titles Jackson County: 5 titles, 3 runners-up Pickett County: 5 titles Livingston Academy: 4 titles, 4 runners-up Cannon County: 1 title, 3 runners-up York: 1 title White County: 1 title, 2 runners-up Celina: 4 runners-up Upperman: 2 runners-up Rickman: 2 runners-up That is a total of 24 state championships and 20 runners-up. Let me know if I left any out.
  13. This thread has gotten out of hand. Livingston beat Pickett County in a matchup of two very good teams. Pickett was without Capps and that definitely made a difference. LA still wins the game, but it would have been closer. And as for the referee comments, they are way out of line. The officials called a fair game. The only reason why so many fouls were called is because so many fouls were committed. No referee is out to get Coach Bibb and you have to be crazy to think that. If he shows up an official, then yes they will take offense to it...that's their job. P.S. I still don't know why one poster had to mention Gary Maxwell in this thread. He is a very accomplished official and has worked his way up as a result of his talent and hard work. Let's quit bashing people we hardly know.
  14. This is a classic mathup of contrasting styles. I think Livingston has the better team but Cookeville always seems to play well in their gym. If LA can make some baskets early to set up the press it could be a long game for the Cavs. I think how well Cookeville can handle the ball and make outside shots will deteremine this game. With that being said, I look for LA to win a close game.
  15. This is no disrespect to Upperman or any other team in District 7AA, but it would be a major upset if Livingston lost a district game this season. The talent at LA is superior to everyone else and a tough non-district schedule will only benefit this team. Dunn is by far the best player and the bench is deeper than any other team's in 7AA.
