  1. Haha! Well I'm glad I could help your son make that tough decision! I enjoy helping out in any way I can and it really helps to have the support of the coaches and parents! Thanks!
  2. I believe you are correct in your assumption 10-2-4. I did have the privilege of working with a good handful of that starting line up during this past summer. I became really close with all of them and have kept in contact with them through the season. They are a great group of young men and I know how bad they want to be successfull because they show it in their work ethic! I'm glad they are achieving their goals.... But it's not over yet! I expect to see a few state medals returning to the Hill in a couple weeks! ArtusCimber, you keep sending them up and we'll do what we can with them! I am more than happy to help as much as I can with such a tight-knit program such as SH!
  3. If all goes as planned, Josh Lewis (Science Hill) will be at King next year.... He'll be thrown right in the middle of an extremely tough practice room around his weight including 2009 197lb National Runner-up Frank Morgan!
  4. Yeah not Matt... But you're welcome! I agree with Charlie... Wish that loss could have came in the finals instead of the semis! But great work from the wrestlers and coaches all the same!... Hard to believe that a team with no returning state medalists can have such a strong dual season including a third place finish at state! That says a lot about the coaches!
  5. There is really only two returning medalists in Region 1 this year?!.... It's hard to believe that SH doesn't have any. But I'm willing to bet that they will end this season with a good handful. They have a great, hard working crew! bwm: South has a few kids that standout because of their desire to work hard in the off-season.... They have a lot of heart, and outstanding parent support! However, it seems to me that they are lacking a head coach that can take his mouth of the whistle long enough to coach some wrestling. I have a close connection with that wrestling community and hope that they are able to get a step in the right direction, because the kids and the parents love the sport and deserve it! donestuck: There is actually 1 more Myers after Cody! 4 boys to be exact!..... However Jacob (the youngest) hates wrestling! He has been going to tournaments for years and years, but is still much more interested in exploring new schools and making friends with all the hospitality workers! So unless Jacob randomly gets the itch in the next couple of years, Region 1 will be free of Myers wrestlers in 3 years.
  6. Correction: East I beat Chatt in both styles. Our only loss came to Memphis in Freestyle.
  7. I am extremely proud of our group we brought down! Greco state champs and freestyle runner-ups... can't complain! Cody Davis and Goldstein were injured wrestling greco and were unable to wrestle any of the freestyle so that made getting the freestyle title a little more difficult. Thanks SO MUCH to whoever called me about my bag! Caleb Myers
  8. The east is all safely in Memphis, good on weight and ready to roll tomorrow!.... And the coaches are stoked /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. East is on the hush /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> .... But there is no doubt that BOTH of our teams will be very competitive! Can't wait!
  10. The East does have 2 teams set to make the trip. Derek and I originally set this up to compensate for Chatt not bringing a team so that everyone could still get the same amount of matches. I think Chatt bringing a team is new to mostly everyone. I guess everyone will be getting 8 matches then instead of 6.
  11. The Eastern team is looking extremely promising with the weights we currently have filled. We are set to be bringing state placers as well as state champs to represent east TN. However.... We are still in need of a few weight classes. Of course, the 98lb weight class needed. This is a hard weight class to fill for all parts of the state, but we do not want to be one of the teams giving up points. If anyone knows of anyone that weighs right around 100, please either contact Derek, or leave a post on here. 8th graders that will be upcoming freshman are also able to wrestle in this so keep that in mind. The weight classes 35 and 40 are still yet to be filled as well. If anyone is interested in representing East TN in these weights or any others please contact Derek with some information so we can put together a strong full team! Thank you, Caleb Myers
  12. Frank Morgan is set to Wrestle Andrew Sanchez in the 197lb National finals tomorrow after winning an exciting semis match with a takedown in OT! Frank lost to him by a riding point in the region finals to Sanchez, and is extremely anxious for the rematch! Frank is King College's first National Finalist! King also has John Erickson (125) and Shad Rissler (141) in the Consilation quarters and are guaranteed top 6! This is already King's best national performance to date. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Ha! Not quite! I don't think anybody in Jason's family has ever reached over 150! Jason's the biggest of them all. That's just one of the hundreds of Ricker's in Greene county... It's an extremely common name.
  14. I just made a similar post in another topic the other day. I saw that a couple days ago and thought that was great of Raymond! Congratulations to him! Hope he's at the same spot at the end of the year!
  15. Was just thinking the exact same thing as I was schrolling down... then saw that post /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> What is the schedule for this tournament?
  16. I was just looking at the DII national rankings and noticed that Raymond Dunning is currently the #1 ranked 141 in the country! Not saying that he belongs in this list, but I thought this was a great accomplishment from a former TN wrestler and thought this would be the most acceptable place to make this post. Congratulations to Raymond!
  17. Dang right! We are very proud of that E in our little town. We take pride in being the only one! Our town gate even has it capitalized in the middle of the word GreenEville... kind of sounds like the name of a town in a horror film.. of maybe a good WWE name! Green Evil! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. Alright... good deal. That's good to have him involved over there... for him and the team. Those kids can learn a lot from having him in the room. Wish he was still in our room helping me! But I'll most likely be there tonight. I hear it'll be mostly SH JV, so Brett won't be wrestling. But if you decide to go up anyways, I'll see ya tonight! BTW.. How is Pills (Brad) doing over there at MW? How's the team looking?
  19. Is Bo over there coaching regularly or was it just a one time deal? Will he be at South tomorrow?
  20. Yes rebelmom, I recieved your e-mail. We just got home from Omaha, so I will get back to you soon! Thank you! And King has officially certified at 112 and he has already made the weight once for Super 32. If he decides to make the cut, I assume it'd be after Christmas when he gets the two extra pounds. So that'll be two less than what he dropped for the 32. Cowboy Curtis, do you know if Goldstein certified for 103? It looked to me like he would be too big.
  21. So Kyle is no longer wrestling?
  22. What ever happened to Kyle James from Soddy Daisy? Last I heard, he was at the OTC expecting to make some serious noise soon. But that was a couple years ago. Anybody have any information on what he's been up to?
  23. Yes it is! That's great! I'd love to see them. If you would like, you could send them to my e-mail. It's cjmyers@student.king.edu Thanks!
  24. Lil Goldstein did look extremely tough saturday. He looked to be real smooth and confident on his feet. He also looked like he has put on some size since last year. He'll even be a pretty good size 12. And Science hill had an ARMY at that tournament. Their wrestle-offs had to have taken two weeks judging by how many kids were in that gym! They certainly have the numbers, and it looks like they have plenty of skill to go along wih it! I'm not too familiar with any of the other names at 135, so after seeing Brett wrestle this weekend, I say he has a great chance at bringing that third gold to the Usary household. He looked good on his feet. Looked like he was trying out different things, being early in the season. And I know he's always been tough on top.
