At the BCAT Girls Hoopfest in Lebanon we taught 20+ players how to properly run the shot clock in about 15 minutes. We had less than a handful of issues over the course of 3 days and around 100 games. As far as instalation and cost as the article stated was around $6000. I would think the BCAT and/or TSSAA could negotiate a deal with a company to provide the whole state with shot clocks at a reduced cost.  Rather than not discuss it for 3 years give schools a 3 year phase in process to absorb the cost over a period of time. This would also be split at almost all schools by the boys and girls basketball programs instead of one program like footall. I also think some school systems could/would add it within their budget if they knew when it would be implemented. That would be a drop in the bucket for most school systems. In my opinion the sWhortage of officials has no bearing on whether shot clocks should be implemented or not. Some may hang up the whistle for that reason, but officials get out of it or move up to the collegiate/professional ranks for various reasons and the shot clock shouldnt be singled out as the reason officials would leave the profession. It may also entice others to actually join an association in their area if they see that it aligns along the same lines as they games they watch on television. The game continues to evolve and the shot clock has benefits for all levels of skill, athleticsm, player IQ, and coaching strategy.

Watched one game where the clock wasn't reset properly 3 times. Clock is not needed for HS as most teams can't even hold it for 30 seconds . And 6k is very low end for cost, as I have heard more likely about 15k.

Is there always that much turnover?

Worse coached Tullahoma team I have seen at MTSU in ten years.  Talent they have is not what it has been but the coaching is just not what you would expect.  Such a drop from a good thing they had going, I am looking forward to playing them this year.

What is your problem with Tullahoma?

No, they are still in full swing, open gym, tryouts, workouts, you can call it what you want but under no circumstances can 8th graders participate. How can you be a high school coach and not even know the rules smh, I also heard yesterday that Franklin Co is now down to 4 returning players, they may not even be able to field a team next year.

FC will definitely field a team, but will be young.

There hasn't been a lot of significant coaching movement up to this point. I know Warren County is open.  Looks like Summit is open now - John Wild headed to Santa Fe (interesting move).  Also heard Giles County is open, though they have not been competitive in a long time.  Any other changes out there?

Why would Wild move to Santa Fe?

In response to TheTruthHurts22:   So you don't think teams should get blown out in the state tournament.  OK, Fulton blows out one team by 40 and then by 30 in the championship game.  So you are saying that neither of those teams that were blown out should have even been in the state tournament?  Is that what you're saying?  They worked hard to get there.  MLK is an academic magnet school, so those kids not only achieve on the court by also in the classroom.  I don't know about Haywood but they were 30-6.  Have no idea if they are expected to perform in the classroom or not like MLK.  It appears to me that YOUR team didn't get in maybe?  Whatever,  I applaud every team there, win or lose, close game or blow out, doesn't matter. I am proud of every team that played a game on the MTSU floor.  Case closed......

Just because it is an academic magnet school doesn't mean it takes academic kids only. Have known MS coaches in Nashville who had great players recruited by magnet and private schools. Magnet schools must have x amount of minority students and those seats can't be filled by anyone else. Magnets should have to play in the private school division with this unfair advantage of recruiting. This is why Nashville public schools have such a hard time competing.

Should’ve lost to Goodpasture in 2014. GP had more talent imo.

They didn’t win a state title which still blows my mind, but 93-94 Goodpasture team had the most talent of any 1A team ever.

Mercer, Maddux, Howard- how do you not win A with three SEC players!
