  1. The first time I saw this hands in front of the face routine was Kevin Mix after beating Hooker in the state last year. It did not seem that offensive then and it didn't seem that offensive on Saturday. That's just me.
  2. One thing I know for sure, this is not a personal thing between the two wrestlers. After all this was over yesterday, Justin Cash, who is a quiet kid and does not editorialize about much, commented about what a nice guy Marchetti was. I could tell Justin was genuinely impressed. We, as fans, were all impressed with Mr. Marchetti, who came over and congratulated Mrs. Cash. It is easy to believe that the Marchetti's are good people.
  3. I would say she pawed at him as she was chewing him out. I am not sure if she made contact. The words looked to be more potent than the slap. She was plenty steamed.
  4. My view was that Massey was not himself (1 day rest) and Stallings was not himself (injured shoulder). Therefore both teams slugged it out. BA came out on top in a game that could have easily gone either way. Great environment with lots of spirited fans. It has been a while since I have seen an "I've got spirit - how bout you?!?!" contest at a high school baseball game.
  5. Stalling's arm is not in pitching shape. He has over taxed his arm as the #1 pitcher and catching every other game this season (BA's other catcher has missed the season with a stress fracture). BA's JV ace came in and did a great job throwing off CBHS with some velocities that I don't think they were used to seeing. Pitching depth was not a strong suit even without injuries for us. No one really knows who will pitch, even in the first game, against Baylor. I believe will have to get hot twice in a row like we did against CBHS to have a chance. Those are zones that, unfortunately, do not show up all that often, however.
  6. He is the ace. Blalock, who will throw today vs. BGA is #2 (they both threw Friday). Stallings needs more rest, since he catches every game that he does not pitch.
  7. Navery is plenty good. However, he is no where near back to his old self yet. He does not have command of his locations and I don't believe he is really trying to throw his hardest, just yet. It could all come back this week - who knows.
  8. You were correct - good work! Four good baseball teams. I am looking forward to watching as many of the games as I can.
  9. Does anyone know the match-ups?
  10. BA sweeps the series with 6-1 win. Stallings game 1 winner and Blalock game 2 winner. At least 50% of the final four will be Middle-TN after the BGA sweep from yesterday.
  11. MBA, Pope John Paul and Ensworth were eliminated from middle.
  12. Sir, I am buying what you are selling. Well written blog! I will anxiously await your future postings. Sir, I am buying what you are selling. Well written blog! I will anxiously await your future postings.
  13. How the heck did I make it sound like 7 or 8? I said that our line-up was the same against Ryan and MBA but different for the West TN tourney. I also said that everyone has those problems. We won our pool and finished 2nd in the Briarcrest tournament. That was as good as we could have done with or without the 3 spots. We start 4 freshmen and an 8th grader. 5 freshmen in the Briarcrest tourney. Not our year to have a chance against a great team like CBHS.
  14. Another freaking injury for one. Our 135 is out and his back-up who wrestled against MBA now has a "bruised ACL". Our 171 is out and his back-up who wrestled against MBA did not make the trip. Our 130 on Friday, missed weight on Saturday. It is a rebuilding year and injuries have made it that much tougher. Everybody has to deal with those problems on most years, however. So, we were missing three spots from the previous night.
  15. Waddey did not wrestle. Hunt was back and wrestled 135 and was rusty. Jarrell was rusty, but survived it. BA wrestled the same line up against MBA as they did Ryan except 130 and 135 swapped. Unlike the West TN trip the next day.
  16. I will give you the "better than nothing" sketchy report. In all fairness it should have been much closer. Everything went our way. Started at 112 with a Dupree pin for BA 119 was one of the better matches Brannon decision of Simpson like 8-7 or something 125 was Francis pin for MBA 130 Lundborg pin for BA 135 a shocking Moore pin for BA while trailing 140 pin for MBA 145 Todd wrestled his BUTT OFF and Cash came from behind to win like 14-12 (it was a bar room brawl). I am a BA fan and I was proud of Todd. 152 Ball for BA wins a decision I think 160 MBA wins a decision?? 171 Jarrell takes down Tate with 2 seconds left and trailing by 1 to win a decision for MBA 189 Brasher wins decision for BA 215 MBA forfeits HW Caruethers wins by pin 103 Calloway wins by pin - I believe All from rough memory.
  17. Oh, I get it. I was there. I have made it pretty clear that the best team won. I even went along with your "undressed in our own gym" line. You also said that Ryan "dropped kicked us" and few other classy remarks. You introduced our football game this past Fall in this thread and then cried when I referenced it, as well. What I don't get is why you whine and cry (just read your posts - no theorizing here) after a decisive and impressive win: "...stalling...running...flattening...this not a football board...waaahhh..waaahh". You must be the 152 pounder or a close relative. I can't imagine anyone else being so unhappy after a such a great week of wrestling for Ryan. Just a theory.
  18. Justin has wrestled more matches at 152 and 160 this year than he has at 145. So, to answer your question. I don't know and neither do you. The difference is that I am intellectually honest about it and you obviously are struggling with that concept. Your reading comprehension problem continues to plague you. I "theorized" that you are mad at the world. See, I can't possibly know. Just like you can't possibly know why Cash wrestled 152, unless Coach Cash told you and he doesn't say much in general. When a person doesn't know for a fact, the best they can do is give an opinion or "theorize". Unlike some sour, mad at the world people, who represent their opinion as fact. The only person who should be mad is your 152. Maybe your are not a whining crybaby. You are just impersonating one. By the way - your "Ignorance is no excuse" tag line loses some of the punch, when you spell "previous" incorrectly, just prior to the delivery. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  19. You have mentioned that you think your guy will go to 140 for the state. I will not accuse him of "running" because I do not use your "sour - mad at the world logic". I noticed that you avoided explaining why you cry after winning 12 of 14 matches. I theorize that it is more "sour - mad at the world...". Seven months is a long time. It is not too late to start trying to be happy. Then you can go back to the same old you in seven months. No one will blame you.
  20. You should take my comparison of the football spanking as a compliment. My point EXACTLY! You "undress" us in our gym and you still cry about something. I haven't complained about the "undressing". The better team won. I will be cheering for you guys against Baylor. I just think it is ridiculous that you complain after winning 12 of 14 matches. Also, obviously, hypocritical that it is "better for the team" when your guy goes to 140 to avoid a match against our guy, but "running" when our guy does it.
  21. Oh my! Could it have been "better for the team" that Cash wrestled 152 yesterday????? Maybe things are only "better for the team" when you say so. A pin at 152 against a ranked wrestler and Marchetti can't pin our back-up 145? Sounds like a pretty sound decision to me. One of our few bright spots and you want to take it away. We did not try to take away that touchdown against, basically, our middle school team that you finally scored in the 4th quarter this past fall.
  22. Please, a little more detail for we who were toddlers in 1969. Who won? Stories of interest?
  23. I did not even HINT that those starters would have made ANY difference in the match at all. Everyone of those starters would have still been underdogs. As I said, it is football season all over again - you want to fight. Either that or you suffer from a severe reading comprehension problem. The missing starters were mentioned as a possible reason why Cash bumped to 152. The freshmen and the 8th grader was mentioned as a potential reason that the BA wrestlers did not charge after the Ryan wrestlers with guns blazing. I was not making excuses, I was trying to comfort the typical Ryan fan that was whining, even after winning 12 of 14 matches. I did not see any problems with any parents for any school. However, based on your posts, I am pretty sure that I was not sitting close to you. Once again, the reading comprehension problem rears its ugly head. I pretty much conceded it as humiliating. However, football had to be rougher on you than the wrestling on me. Ryan thought that they just might win in football - at least be close - OUCH. In wrestling Ryan is overwhelmingly better. Our expectations were pretty low.
  24. Who in the heck is making excuses? How could someone make excuses? This is just like the football board. MBA and BA humiliate Ryan and the Ryan fans want to fight with everyone. It is wrestling season and it is Ryan's turn to do the humiliating and still you want to fight. Just be happy. You still have 7 months before football season starts again. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
