  1. NASHVILLE CITY PAPER
  2. I think BGA won 13-2 and BA won 7-1
  3. McCallie threw #3 and BA threw #5. It is really odd. BA wins and probably has the toughest match-up
  4. Thanks for the insight. That could be interesting. These seeding games are weird enough. But now, if the SBA win is interpreted as an upset, BGA and/or Webb's starting pitcher could be their equipment manager. I know BA is starting a freshmen JV pitcher against McCallie, because of the lack of reward for a win. What do you do when a win is almost a penalty? Weird format.
  5. Wow, who does SBA and CBHS play in their seeding games?
  6. I think 1PM for the BGA/Webb and 4PM for BA/McCallie. Both games at McCallie
  7. I forgot about ECS. That would be a conceivable move.
  8. I think you are mistaken about fewer DII large schools.

    BGA vs BA

I agree with everything said about Coach Meyer's player development. That should not be ignored. However, I think, the biggest part of coaching is championships. So, I don't think he will be ready for the hall of fame until he wins a state (I think he will eventually). Buddy Alexander took an inferior team last year (to BGA, Christian Brothers and Baylor) and won a state title. I am not sure how developed the players were, but he put the trophy in the case.
  10. My point is that the scrimmages are no way to judge. I don't blame you for being a little sensitive, if you are a BHS fan. BHS left there varsity in and was being scored upon by the BA junior varsity. Many of the 10 runs were surrendered by Robby Ray. I don't think BHS even scored until Tyler Berlin, who will be starting for the JV today, came into the game in the 7th inning. Other than solid pitching, BHS is very, very shaky. Ravenwood is a much better hitting team and fielding. However, pitching is a huge part of things, as we all know. I agree - BA could not play with Farragut. You do realize that we have 220 boys in our high school and no one ever accused us of recruiting a baseball player. You guys and Farragut have a lot more boys to pick from. In all fairness 4 of the BA starting nine would attend BHS, if they went to public school.
  11. Going off of scrimmage results is about as lame as this pole. Ravenwood played the scrimmage like it was the state championship game. BA pulled it's starters by the 4th inning and Ravenwood scored some runs (no way 18) off of two freshmen who could not throw strikes. This past week BA beat Brentwood to death. Ray threw 3 innings and Hillis threw 1. I think BA was the better team, but not because of a pre-season high school scrimmage.
  12. I agree it will be tough to repeat. I think BA's pitching will be good enough to beat BGA 2 out of 3, however.
  13. First of all "returning starter" meant they "started" last year - started somewhere, in the line up. Second of all you are wrong about Lennington he played third and second. Jordan Jones fought a severe ankle injury for the entire season and D.J. Luna pitched. He was not "strictly" a DH. Lastly, since you are such a stickler for detail you are wrong about the center fielder. Jacobs started in center no one named "Jacobson" played for BA. Floyd started in left.
  14. Speculative BA Line-up Blalock, Floyd, LePere (first 3 pitchers) Lundborg (Catcher) started as a sophomore injured last year / D1 signee LePere/Blalock (1B) pitchers - returning starters DJ Luna (2B) - returning starter Lennington (3B) - returning starter Dove (SS) - returning starter Renfro (LF) - sophomore - 6'2" 190lbs (hit several homers in JV and Varsity as a pinch hitter) Floyd (CF) - returning starter Henniger (RF) - started at DH and catcher last year
  15. I do not think there is much of a chance that he will start. Too many good seniors. I think he will be given some spot opportunities. Sophomore Nathan Renfro is making a bigger splash right now. Big kid with a lot of speed and power. Not much to the scrimmages so far. BA has pitched 6-7 pitchers 1 inning each in the two previous scrimmages. CPA and Davidson pitched their pitchers 2 innings. Just like any other scrimmage.
