  1. pepe, I asked to be done with this but you just keep pushing my buttons. This will be my last post on this subject, no matter how outrageous or flamboyant your reply is. First of us, the drama between Hixson and Soddy that you keep insisting on? Well, I've been involved with high school bowling at Soddy Daisy since the sport was endorsed by TSSAA in 2001-2002, as I have several children all of whom were members of the team throughout the years. I certainly would know better than you about any supposed problems between these fine schools. Hixson did not even have a bowling team in the first few years but later on developed a team. So, unless you can prove your allegations by this supposed ex-worker of the lanes (who by the way may have a grudge here) then please stop slinging the mud and endorsing "facts" on which you are basing on hearsay and rumor. As far as the apology, you have it. I hate that you find it insufficient. However, our bowlers were not involved in the incidents nor were the coaches. Frankly, I think your refusal to accept the apology for the actions done by SOMEONE ELSE is tacky. In addition, contrary to your supposed facts, our coaches were not aware of what supposedly happened until days later, whether you believe it or not is not my problem. In addition, none of you have offered any apology for the offense we felt at your coaches' behavior. Whether you agree with our observations or not, we were offended. However, the coaches and myself attempted to resolve the issue by apologizing via the method of which you expressed offense, here on this website, whether or not we received any like gesture in kind. I regret you feel otherwise. Otherwise, I suggest you contact the actual parties involved.
  2. To proudbowlingmom, I totally agree with your comments and congratulations to all the bowlers and teams of this year. I absolutely hate the drama and hope next year will be awesome. Thank you. Thanks also to Catbackr for your support and the correcting of the erroneous facts previously reported. I know don't where on earth pepe heard that our teams had to be separated and couldn't even bowl in the same center since we have shared the same center every single week of every single month of every single season since Hixson started their high school team! Our kids bowl on the same leagues, often on the same teams, and frequently join each other on the same doubles/teams during USBC tournament time. That one is beyond me. Thank you also catbackr for correcting the accusation that a Soddy player had anything to do with messing with Allie's ball. We all love your daughter and think she totally rocks! The initial rumor that hit this website about the drama between our two teams was apparently posted by someone wanting to stir up trouble and I'm glad we all didn't take the bait. Pepe, as far as the apology, that has already been done. After I informed the coaches of the above events, of which they were not aware, they asked me to post an apology for all the events. I did so immediately and it is included in a post on this very subject. However, again, I will say that, on behalf of the coaches, players, and fans of Soddy Daisy, we apologize for any and all inflammatory statements and actions two of our fans may caused during our match with White Station. NOW, can we please let this drop and let all of our kids enjoy their success?
  3. While I appreciate your comments, I would like to correct a few of your "facts". All of the incidents you report that occurred with various Soddy fans and/or parents involved only 2 people who are, from all things I have heard, the parents of one of our bowlers. We now suspect who that may be. However, NONE of the bowlers ATTACKED the WS coach or anyone else for that matter. To suggest they did is a complete fabrication and dramatization. It IS true that a car belonging to a Soddy parent was keyed and pretty badly too and the police are currently looking into the matter. What you may NOT know was the car happened to belong to the 2 people who are believed to be the ones who made the obscene gestures, verbally accosted two WS male bowlers, and tried to trip the WS coach. Your post made it sound like our entire team, fans, and coaches were running wild attacking and behaving horribly which I PERSONALLY resent the heck out of. NONE of our bowlers have EVER verbally, physically, or in any way attacked or assaulted any opposing team, coach, or fan, nor would they. They ARE taught better than that. Next, as far as our relationship with Hixson, how would you know the facts on this? As a matter of fact, the Hixson and Soddy teams are actually quite close and support each other in all matches except when we face each other. At the semi-finals match, did you happen to notice that a great deal of the Hixson fans were actually from Soddy and, during our matches, did you happen to notice that many of our fans were actually from Hixson? Any drama you refer to occurred in years past and involved only a few parents on both sides. THAT drama was appropriately dealt with MOST CAPABLY by the coaches on both sides. Next, our coaches were completely unaware of any drama that was occurring. During the match, they were naturally focused on their bowlers. After the match, they were trying to uplift our girls' crushed spirits. If you do remember, many were quite upset and crying openly. Understandably THAT was their focus. NO ONE brought any of the above to their attention and the coaches only just found out about it when I told them about the posts on this site, for crying out loud! The APPROPRIATE actions would have been for Mr. Catlin to bring the matter to our coaches' attention and they would have certainly taken appropriate action. One of our coaches is a dedicated police veteran of 24 years and the other a retired postal inspector. They know how to deal with volatile situations and would have easily and quickly done so had they known. I cannot comment on the match between Hendersonville and Hixson as I was not witness to it. However, I will say that I do not wish our coaches to model the head coach from Hendersonville. I saw how he coached Andrea in the individuals and my heart went out to her when he would make sarcastic comments when she was struggling. There she was trying her best but struggling and he walks up and says very sarcastically "try hitting the head pin for a change." Her face fell and I was just shocked. Andrea is a fantastic bowler and a very sweet girl who my daughter faced in many state tournaments (not just for TSSAA). I will close with this: when you report the "facts" make sure they are accurate. I too hope the incident will be investigated by TSSAA and I thoroughly enjoy high school bowling and it should be about the kids. I never intended for my initial comments to be treated as an attack against someone who dedicates their time and energy to coaching. I was offended by the actions of the WS coach during the match as he appeared to allow his enthusiasm to override good taste but I have no doubts he must be a dedicated and commendable man. His bowlers are exceptional, both in their sportsmanship and skill and it has to be at least a partial reflection on the man.
  4. Yes, he was WAY over the top. I appreciate any coach's dedication and from the statements above, he should be commended for his dedication to his team and the sport. However, he did make an inflammatory statement to one of our girls which may have been the spark. I was also there. I don't know if the heat of the moment or the building tension caused him to make such a comment but his actions seemed to grow from there. I also sincerely hope none of our parents would be so juvenile as to pick fights with kids or behave so reprehensibly as to make obscene gestures to any young adult. If so, please be assured that does not represent our team or any of our other parents! I absolutely hate the drama between any teams in a competitive sport and hope the next time we face, all adults will behave as they should to set an example.
  5. On behalf of all the Soddy Daisy bowlers, parents, fans, and coaches, I sincerely hope no parents or adults representing our team behaved in the above offensive manner, even if they thought they were responding in kind. If this actually did occur, please accept our apology and I hope you do not believe that what may be the gross immature actions of one or two reflect the entire team and fans. You are absolutely right. It IS entirely about the kids and behavior such as described above by either parents or coaches is unacceptable, regardless of the reason!
  6. To add to the comments by Luv2Bowl, I also want to congratulate the girls of White Stations for their achievements at the state tournament. They did well and you could see the excitement on their faces when they did well. Even though we were their opponents, I was impressed by both their determination and their enthusiasm and they demonstrated very sportsmanlike behavior, despite the behavior of their coach. I was very taken aback by his antics as I did not expect such from a coach, someone who is supposed to teach sportsmanlike behavior. He even told one of our girls during the match "Ha. Get ready to pack your bags and go home." His behavior during the match was equally offensive as he appeared more focused on "getting in our face" than encouraging his girls. In 7 years of being involved with high school bowling, there has been only one other adult who I found so offensive. However, despite him, the girls at White Stations were very sincere and behaved much more mature than their coach. I cannot comment on his performance or coaching skill outside the state tournament as I do not know him. He may be a very nice man and I commend anyone willing to sacrifice their time and effort to work with youth bowling, but his behavior at the state tournament during our match was simply inappropriate for an adult, much less a coach. I would also like to congratulate Columbia Central and Michael for their outstanding achievements this year. I watched Michael periodically during the tournament and the reception and was extremely impressed by him. He is a fine young man with skill and class. Even when he was not satisfied with a frame, he maintained an exceptional attitude and good spirit. Congrats Michael, you completely deserved the Mr. Bowling title and please disregard the remarks on this website by a small-minded individual whose jealousy prompted him to make horrible comments. to those at Columbia Central, we thoroughly enjoyed our matches with you. You are a class team with a grade A classy coach. Keep up the good work!
  7. Hey SDStarter, which starter on the SD team are you? #1, #3, #5, or 6? Just curious as I've been trying to figure out which one you were. I know most of the others that post. GO TROJANS! Thanks also, Mass, for your support. Nice to have you back and I really appreciate all your help to my boy!
  8. Your buddy did very well today with a 222, 227, and 205! Scott Demirjian also did well with a 245 and 233 and Alex Lain soared with a 225, 265, and 246 for the Trojans. I believe total pins were somewhere around 3722 for Soddy Daisy and 3650 for Smyrna (but don't bet on my math skills).
  9. GO ALEX!!! This kid has to be one of the most improved in the state. He has only bowled since his sophomore year, when he averaged about 110 to 120. With determination, committment and lots of practice, he is now a leading starter for his team and had the highest average in the District, just edging past Gudel of Hixson in the final days of the season (a very talented bowler in his own right). Alex also has an incredible attitude! You rock, boy, keep it going!
  10. Yes, it was a very intense match between two quality teams. Both teams exemplified sportmanship and team spirit. What a Match! Congrats to both teams for their achievements and contributions to the sport.

    District 6

Well, it is over. Soddy Daisy Boys are the District Championships with an excellent showing. Scott Demirjian had an incredible day, averaging over 230! Hixson did beat Sequatchie quite resoundingly in the semi-finals but was defeated by the Trojans in the finals. Hixson Girls won the District Championships, defeating runner-up Soddy Daisy Lady Trojans. Hixson has a deep team of talent and their girls are a well oiled team. I suspect, however, both girls' teams end up at the state and may possibly face each other again in the state finals. Congratulations to both Soddy Daisy and Hixson for a job well done in District 6. The best teams made the finals!
  12. Congrats Lady Wildcats! I have always been impressed with the depth and talent of your team and I believe the girls will be a team to reckon with at the state. We look forward to facing you again.
  13. I was quite insulted and astounded at the audacity of this comment. I was at the match in question and witnessed the whole thing. During the match, ONE of the Sequatchie bowlers gleefully jeered and cheered whenever a Soddy bowler had an open frame. Contrary to another post message, he was not merely cheering on his own team as, on many occasions, there was only a Soddy bowler on the lane. His actions were extremely insulting. After he continued his antics for a prolonged period, the Soddy coach did make a public comment about his unsportmanslike conduct. I acknowledge he should have directly gone to the Sequatchie coach to address this problem but I noticed that the bowler in question ceased his disruptive and insulting behavior when 'dressed down' in such a manner. His behavior in the match yesterday was much more acceptable so I hope he has learned how to conduct himself in a sportmanslike manner. I just wish he had the maturity to apologize for his behavior and comment above. I certainly do not wish my comments to reflect on the whole Sequatchie team. To the contrary, the Sequatchie team is very good this year and I have been extremely pleased by their progress. The other bowlers on the team, except the one young man in question, have been very polite and exemplify sportsman like behavior. I have been involved in high school bowling ever since it's initial approval by TSSAA. With only one exception, all the coaches with whom I have been in contact have been remarkable role models. Their dedication and committment are outstanding, and the coaches at both Hixson and Soddy are certainly no exception. The Soddy coach in question has dedicated thousands of hours to his team and, on numerous occasions, has even offered to help other struggling bowlers. Since you obviously do not know the man in question, I would urge you to be cautious when insulting a man who has committed his life to serving others, both on the lanes and off.
