  1. Siegel has really good guard play and score most of their points off of transition baskets. This is a team that rely on their full court pressure from the tip. The PG (Jones) is a decent player and this Siegel team will go as he goes. The Clark kid is a decent shooter but he will get exposed against a Memphis team once they discover that he doesn't like to go right (strictly a lefty). I predict Siegel will lose by atleast 8 pts. Siegel played in a very weak district this year. Other than Blackman, there were not any other competetive teams in their District or Region. This team would have truly benefited from entering into some tourneys West of the Tennessee River to get a true measurement of how good they really are. The 6'5" point guard that Arlington has will be by far the best player that Siegel have faced all year. Arlington also has a whole cast of guys that can flat out shoot and play, along with a very saavy coach that won a gold ball with Bartlett HS in the early 2000's. I don't believe Siegel's press will be anything that Arlington has not seen playing in Memphis night in and night out. At the end of the day, it's the state tourney and anything can happen, but I predict a W for Arlington.
  2. Based on my conversations with very reliable LC resources- Some of those kids have been enrolled at Lancaster Christian Academy for atleast 3 years and the other student/athletes transferred to the school from another private school or Metropolitan Nashville school. Most of the kids were non-starters at their previous schools - maybe their parents enrolled them into the school to put them in a better environment as well as to have the opportunity to play more on the football field/basketball court. Contrary to belief, none of the LC players have never been home school and they are excellent student/athletes and have never been in trouble at LC or their previous schools. One of the kids on the basketball team has a football offer from a couple of D-1 schools and another kid has an offer from an OVC school. Its sounds like the coaching staff is taking a genuine interest in those kids and the kids are responding well by maximizing their opportunity on and off the court.
  3. @mykidsdad- that is a different situation-that explains the non- Rutherford county scheduling now- it seems like some schools may be avoiding a competitive game against LC- I didn't see wayward players last night- i witnessed a group of LC players that displayed discipline, sportsmanship, and unselfish play. You definitely could tell that the LC coaching staff was in control and not the players. Both teams were class acts. The small private school division should be feeling really good that LC is not TSSAA because I believe they would make a lot of noise in post season play in that division.
  4. @nebuntyn- that would be nice to see- LC style of play is similar to West TN style of play. I looked at the schedule on their website and they have Mitchell, Arlington, & Jackson North Side on their schedule. It looks like they will play anybody - anywhere. I noticed they didn't have any Metro Nashville schools or Rutherford County schools on the schedule. I wonder what's up with that.
  5. Lancaster Christian got a really nice squad. They have nice size and athleticism and a couple of guys that can flat out shoot the basketball. LC was up by 18 plus points majority of the game- DC played hard -LC just was just a matchup nightmare for them last night. Both teams were well coached. LC coaching staff have those boys under control and it seemed like selfish play is not an option on that team. Overall it was a great game with a nice pace. Good luck to both teams.
  6. @Stealer07 & TigerPride23 - Thanks for your input - Sounds like both teams may like to run - i think I may just check this game out. I can't pass up a good basketball game on a Thursday Night. I'm sure DC will have a nice following being that its a County School..I may need to get there early...Thanks!
  7. I hear Dekalb County is undefeated and Lancaster Christian is a small private school in Smyrna that has nice size and some talent. Any thoughts on this game from any fans of either team. I live in the Smyrna area and was thinking about catching this game on Thursday in Smyrna. I was just wondering would it be worth my time. Thoughts....
  8. Lancaster Christian Academy is hosting a Middle School Jamboree for Boys Basketball. The Mid-TN Boys Jamboree will be taking place on Saturday, November 10th, at Lancaster Christian Academy in Smyrna, TN. Each team will play two 8 minute quarters. Currently have 6 committed teams and is seeking 4 teams. If interested please contact Coach Vandy at 615.496.5724 or email me at mauricevanderbilt@yahoo.com.
  9. This was definitely one of the best HS basketball games that I've witnessed in a very long time. Both teams were very athletic and well coached. It came down to X's and O's in the OT periods. McCallie has two skilled bigs in the paint one is 6'8" and the other was about 6'6" , MCallie also had a big stocky guard (Reese) that could get to the basket whenever he wanted to. He had a mean crossover. But Lancaster's PG (Bre Hughes) gave their guards fits...McCallie threw every defender at him and they were at his mercy. Chris Dansby and Zeonte Carr also played really big as well. When I say big I mean big...they were going to the basket dunking over the top of McCallie bigs...It was definitely a team effort by Lancaster Christian Academy they only played 8 players while McCallie played atleast 11 or 12 guys. It was a great effort by both teams tonight...Excellent coaching job by the Lancaster Christian Coaching Staff. I actually came to check out McCallie and got an opportunity to see a really good LCA team. I was expecting a Chatt McCallie blowout. However after tonight, I believe LCA is easily one of the top 10 teams in the Middle TN area at 18-3.
  10. I'm going with Maplewood in this matchup. Maplewood will have to contain the Mr. Basketball nominee but Maplewood have some players (Wade and Lee) that Carter will have to game plan for. I can smell a Liberty & Maplewood second round matchup coming. Bodenhammer will get an opportunity to coach against his old team that he led to the sub-state a few years back if this happens.
  11. This game will get out of hand really fast. Melrose by 25 minimum. Siegel has not seen a team of this caliber all year. I have seen them play a couple of times this year and frankly I have seen better Siegel teams than the 2009-2010 team. Tate is not 100% and Hammonds looks like he is getting back into the swing of things and they do have some bigs in the paint. However that will not be enough to deal with Jones, Rucker & Company. This Melrose team could have beat some OVC conference teams this year. No matter what is said the game still will be determined on the hardwood -i'm just saying Melrose is going to be a very BIG obstacle for any team that faces them in Mboro this week. I will be in Murphy Ctr to see all the teams.
  12. Thurman Francis (Smyrna, TN) vs. Holy Rosary (Hermitage, TN) plays for the boys 2A Championship today at 2:30pm. Holy Rosary pulled out a close game against Rickman yesterday. They were down 15 and won by 4 or 5 pts. They did a great job not giving up and playing hard to pull out the win. Thurman Francis defeated Scotts Hill by 20pts in the Semis. They had a guard that was shooting the lights out in the first half. Thurman Francis is by far one of the best Middle School Teams that I have seen this year in the Middle TN area in all divisions. The point guard is quick and has good court vision. They also have a red head kid down low that is relentless on the boards in addition to another 6'2' kid that can shoot it from anywhere on the court. The one kid with the goggles (Vanderbilt) is an all around good player that's is very consistent. I saw him at the James C. Haile State Invitational and he has been consistently good everytime I have seen him play. There only weakness that I saw is that they have some lapses on defense during the game sometimes. I'm going to check them out for the C-ship game today and I will be curious to see if they can put a full game in on the defensive side of the ball for a State Championship. This should be a great game for the 2A Championship. Go Rutherford County B-ball!!!
  13. I know Thruman Francis Magnet School plays Scotts Hill (Civic Center) on Friday at 330 pm and whoever won between Allons and Holy Rosary plays Bruceton at Springfield Middle in the semis on Friday at 5:15pm. These are the final 4 teams left for the 2A division. The C-ship game will be played on Saturday at the Civic Center at 2:30pm. I'm not sure who won between Holy Rosary / Allons last weekend.
  14. Thurman Francis out of Smyrna won the small school division. Very well coached team and had a strong starting 5. Great shooters and had a 7th Grader (Taylor Vanderbilt) that is going to be fun to watch in the Middle TN area over the next 5 years.
