  1. You DC people amaze me sometimes (some of the most arrogant, cocky, self righteous, hypocritical ________s around (SOME OF YOU/ NOT ALL).... "if Haskins had any guts......" are you kidding me... What the #@!*, are we in the movies or something..... Then what, everybody in the stands would then rise up and give a standing ovatioin as the tears pooled up in their eyes so impressed with the show of humbleness and humility over the gesture! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Try sitting over in Northside's or Covington's section and rubbing it in like you did against Milan the other night and see what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excuse my rant! back to the origional point: Very disrespectful comment to a very good guy and coach and a great person!!!!!!!!! Fact is this, even though he lost four starters he still has two of the best players in the district AND the freshmen are not just average freshmen... the main two are still two of the best players in teh district so with that being said you have four of the best players in the district and a new big kid.... Fact is it simply doesnt matter what you lose if you replace it with something that is still better than what most people have!!!! Now, i'm not saying that he doesnt deserve coach of the year (or that he does) but I will say that i DID expect them to lose a few games in the districts and only losing the one is a noteable feat even though its in one of the weaker 2AA districts around! Like him or not nobody can dismiss the fact that he gets the job done! This little awards are really irrelevant to most of us coaches! Personally, and I've said it before, I think Coach Kim Decker should be coach of the year: Please remember that when you have better talent you are supposed to win. Dburg lost 11 - 13 seniors and basically returned NOBODY with experience. Even though they only won three district games they did keep most all of the games close and beat people they were not supposed to have beaten!!! Based on what she had to work with I think that she actually did the best COACHING job this year! We (us coaches also but especially fans) only look at who wins and not who actually does the most with the least!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. hmmm... he got cha pretty good on that one Beavo! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> LOL. All this talk about covington and what everyone else seems to be forgetting is they MAY NOT EVEN PLAY COVINGTON... are we forgetting that NS won the district... that Haywood had DC down the entire second game until the last minute and still only lost by 1. Dont put the cart b/f the horses here... a lot of you are arguing over something that may ultimately never even matter b/c it may never even happen!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel DC, NS, Cov, all have about an equal chance to win regions with Haywood, OC, WV each having a small outside chance.
  3. what time does the first game start
  4. oooohhh fanatic.... HAHAHAH.... if you did any better of a job denying reality and being blinded by your own personal allegiances you would have been a great inner circle member of President Bush's Staff! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Anyway, whats the schedule for tonight and Saturday????
  5. LOL.... tell us how you really feel. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  6. SO TRUE on that whole statement! Crowd shows not support for a district (possibly final game) tourney game.... NO SURPRISE!!! Now, not pointing to anyone or anything, but hasnt GC been playing really well for 3 quarters ALL YEAR and then shutting if off in the 4th? Sounds like a similiar situation. I believe Baller and GCPioneer (because they have credibility unlike someone we all know and laugh at: hint hint GCfanatic) that the refs, although maybe not the soul reason for the loss, certianly were a catalyst to it. One ref making 5 or 6 calls in a row against one team: not unheard of but still a little fishy. 2 Techs though!!!!! Hmmmm, really have no other people to blame for that issue! And yeah, i'm sure coach sheppard slipped that ref an extra $100 while they were shaking hands (you know, the old drug deal hand shake)!!! After all, the economy is bad and i'm sure the ref really needed the extra $$$$ to buy new striped shirts and upgraded whistles! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  7. watch out how you judge people you dont know by one incident! coach bodenhammer was/is a good guy and a good coach. MOST EVERY coach at some point or another in their career has an "episode" with either a ref or another coach. I've seen your coach act not to "respectable" b/f, and i've done it as most of us have or will! Saw Roy Williams curse out a reporter on national LIVE TV... the examples can go on and on and on! just be careful how you judge people you dont know! As for covingtons chances... they are just as good and any of the top 3 teams in the regioin (NS, DC, Cov) of making it to substate... at that point i think it gets a bit iffy b/c i dont know much about what could be the opponents out of memphis.
  8. its really nothing new! it happens every year to teams. just look at the college game... heck, Notre Dame beat Louisville 40 something last night, not to mention all the other crazy games like that! just goes to show you that: 1. trying to compare a team to another based on who they have both played is pretty pointless and 2. that why you play the game!!!!!!!!! I have been beaten by teams by 40 and then beat them 30 the second go around! Just goes to show nothing is guaranteed!
  9. did they really get beat tht bad???????? did he play all the guys or trying to rest em or what?
  10. on the part under the schedule it only lists a team as #3.... not talking about the detailed profile page of a team. Like if you go look at OC under the "schedule" part it'll say they played #3 Dyer Co. I gotcha though... I get on and post.... dont really know the detailed workings of CoachT. lol thanks for clearing that up for me P&G! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> (no sarcasm intended if it came off that way)
  11. ok... if you go to the schedules on coachT they have DC listed as #3 so thats where i got that from (couldnt remember where i had seen that).... thought actually it was at #4 last time i checked out the schedules so just to let people know i wasnt just pulling numbers out of the sky and making up stuff like some "fanatical" people! lol... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. well i know you arent directing anything towards me... and for anybody that thinks my opinion is based on one loss just go back and look at other post of mine... i have been saying i think NS and Liberty, Bolivar, would win in my opinion. Its kinda like how even though Alabama had been #1 and undefeated most professionals still had them as the underdog to Florida in the SEC championship.... Thats kinda how my thoughts are towards this situation!
  13. we all know rankings dont mean anything.... OC beat DC so does that mean they should be ranked say in the top 5 in the state???? And DC is ranked # 3 or 4 now in AA.... not the entire state if i recall corectly. Ultimately these rankings dont mean squat b/c we all know that anybody in the top ten can beat anybody else in the top ten. Personally, and this is no hating of DC (they are definately becoming a true great PROGRAM) but i believe Bolivar, Liberty, JCM, NS would beat them if they played today. Of course if DC beat any of them by 15 it wouldnt be a real surprise either.
  14. whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......17 F/T's in the fourth???? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> wow.... attacking the rim hard huh! well, maybe these last two close wins will help boost them going into the tourney although they were against the bottom teams they are still confidence boosters. They say its hard to beat a team three times in a season... lets see just how hard it is to beat a team 4 times! If GC can keep it close (under 5) in the last couple of mins the last couple of close wins could be the confidence they need to pull it out.
  15. CONGRATS.... good job on those free throws Josh, not exactly the best free throw shooter around, but players make plays!
  16. went to the game at Liberty and JCM just fell behind and never really got going but had a couple of really good guards. wish i had come to this one... sounds like an absolutely AMAZING game. congrats to coach Starks and gl to both Coach Williams and the crusaders and coach starks and JCM the rest of the way. * Will be one heck of a district in 2AA next year huh?????? lolololol
  17. I agree with you completely about covington... and your lack of dept statement concerning NS. the thing is prather rarely gets in foul trouble. he did foul out against covington last friday but he got a tech that he should have know better than to get (pushed a kid after the whistle). Covington has the Walker kid that hit 33 on NS and then they have two really good guards on the perimeter... #3 and I think #22... NS ran a box and 1 on #3 so he must really be a scorer! I think Covington has just about a good a chance at winning region as anybody and it would NOT be a surprise if they indeed did. and to be honest i wouldnt be shocked if Haywood knocked off one of the top three you mentioned! should be a good tourney! Where will it be at this year?
  18. well, i'm not saying lake co. isnt good and that they dont have some really good players. i just think that if they played LIberty, bolivar, NS, JCM they would lose 3out of 5 times. Just my opinion. I have not seen them play personally and like i said i could be wrong. But hey, if nothing else maybe they can use my posts as "bulliten board" material! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  19. my top 10: 1. Liberty 2. Bolivar 3. Dyer Co 4. Humboldt 5. Northside 6. JCM 7. Covington 8. Lake Co. 9. & 10: either way: Henry co./ Westview I just think that in a comparison, even tho Bolivar beat liberty the crusaders are night in night out a tad bit better. Dyer Co. is doing great but dont think they beat LIberty or Bolivar. Same thought process with Humboldt. The weak schedules dont help (mainly b/c of the teams weak districts, especially humboldts case b/c of it being such a large district). I think Northside could be a possible #3 with wins over bolivar, jcm, covington, and a close loss to Liberty. I may be underestimating Lake Co. some but I believe honestly any of the teams above them would beat them at least 3 if not 4 out of 5 times! Sorry falcon fans..... but hey, been wrong about a lot of things b/f and could easily be wrong about this list now! lolol
  20. i honestly think NS would have certianly beat DC if they played earlier in the season b/c of the match-up problems Prather and a couple of others would pose. As of now i'd say it was about even money (although i still would bet on NS just barely) b/c the more DC plays the more they figure each ohter out and the better the key freshmen are getting. DC definately has the better depth and shooters while NS has the better post/forward and guards good enough to handle the pressure. Another big factor is I think NS has an advantage b/c thier district schedule is much tougher and would have them a bit more prepared than DC's rather weak district will, plus they (NS) have played some very good non-district games such as Bolivar, JCM, and Liberty. Also, Prather REALLY gets up for the big games like nobody else i've seen this year!
  21. Humboldt DEFINATELY had better athletes than just about anybody in 1A last year outside of Manassas, not sure about LC b/c i only saw them once. Humboldt also has MORE athletes at a high level!!! Union City were just very good athletes that were better/ smarter BASKETBALL players... although it was run and gun what people have to realize is that there is a structure behind it all that players must understand and conform to. Its not just "pick-up" street ball. As for Shane, i think it is really wrong to not give him credit. I will say that most everyone will agree that Sisco SR. plays a much bigger role than most assistants do in other progams, but dont take credit away from Sisco Jr. b/c the fact is you must have good assitants to be such a dominant program.
  22. just bored and I know its just half way through the season but lets try and rank the teams. i know there will be several people that dont have info on some teams but do the best you can 1. DC- undefeated and maybe the best scoring/ shooting team. can lose with the youth but doing great thus far. Always well prepared. Crittendon and Pierce are at the top of the district 13 talent pool with a few others from other teams. Missing the back up freshman PG right now a bit though. 2. Northside- Casey Prather is pretty much unstopable by ANYONE in this region (or any other really). Good supporting cast that is getting better. I honestly believe they would probably beat DC right now b/c of the match-up problems Prather would cause. 3. Covington- loaded with speed and athletes... i dont know much else about them. 4. Westview- same old westview... will shoot you out of a game really quick... or shoot themselves out. the Lolyds are very good players and the younger will be an absolute stud b/f he graduates. Very good coaching also. 5. Haywood- Yes, they have lost a lot of games including to D-burg but have really started to come around. 1 point loss to dc... beat FW and Ripley, played a very lose game with NS at the reservation, lost by only a few to Bolivar at home. Just didnt have the experience to start the season. 6. Milan- very basketball smart it seems like. above average shooters. They play as a team and play very hard. Dont have any tremendous athletes though and that may hurt them in the long. Dangerous team though with lots of potential. 7. Fayette Ware- dont know much about them... just basing this on their rep and knowing some of the players they had the last two years that are seniors now. 8. Ripley- One very good guard. will have some athletes but not sure about how many can really play basketball. Seem to be struggling through the district play. 9. Gibson Co.- I know GC beat the Rebels in Troy but the Pioneers have really struggled as of late getting blown out by Milan. They have some good athletes and some good BASKETBALL players but just cant seem to come with the focus and intensity needed to win. The type of team that if they get it together during the tourneys could be very dangerous. 10. Obion Co. - Pretty much the same as GC but since GC beat them they belong ahead of them for now. Cant seem to play with focus and intensity for more than a half or so from everything i keep seeing on here. Could also be very dangerous if things come togeter. 11. Dyersburg- I can say that I believe coach Kim Decker should get coach of the year for district 13AA... although the record does not show it i think we all know she has probably done the most with what she has to work with out of anybody... and i'll be the first to admit i was very skeptical of a woman coaching high school boys.... I APOLOGIZE HERE AND NOW! They play very hard and together. Beat Haywood and Ripley but as far as i know have not won a district game yet.... correct me if i'm wrong but i dont think it would change their ranking for now either way. 12. Crocket Co.- Have been struggling the last two years after the Johnson brothers and company left. Dont know much about them except they have a good pg and the Tall kid that really isnt a post but more of a forward.
  23. second part of your statement is not correct. middle school players CAN NOT play on high school teams. Even in small districts. I'm not sure about my next statement but the only exception(s) MAY be if the JR high does not offer the sport at that level but the high school does... Cross country for instance. The TSSAA rules only allow a kid 8 semesters at the high school level... meaning even if a Jr high player could play as an 8th grader they would not be eligable as a Sr b/c 2 semesters at 4 years would mean they would run out of eligablity after thier Jr. year so that would really be pointless!
  24. very true. so who won this game?
  25. what may i ask did i do dirty then laugh about? i do remember once when humboldt was up 30 and in the 4th put their starters back in against my third stringers which as you know for GC third string is really not to good. Yes, i've admitted on here that in a very unsportsmanlike decision told my kids to undercut someone if they could in order to send a message that we would not be disrespected. At the time i was trying to teach my kids to be tough and to fight and never let anyone beat you without at least making them respect your effort and intensity. Definately not the right way to go about that however. I saw Josh Dotson (kid that ended up getting undercut at the x-mas tourney at Milan by one of my kids... Jarry to be exact... that didnt forget about the message from the previous HBT game) at the X-mas tourney at GC last year and talked to him for about 5 mins and apologized to him about the whole thing and he was really cool and I invited him to come play sometime but really didnt have to many sunday open gyms after then. I do not recall however being in anyway in a laughing mood! that night at humboldt you may be refering to. Who wouldnt want to coach at humboldt? I have had several of their players come to GC and play on sundays and they would ask if I'd come if Boykin retired. A few come chat with me up top at GC when we played them at home and ask. Thats as far as any of that has gotten.... pretty much a rumor with obvious "yesness" to it. lol
