  1. Way to go Hillsboro. You are a good group of talented young ladies. Thanks for keeping Nashville on the girls basketball map. I see ya Keisha.
  2. You are awesome, thank you VERY much! I don't have my rule book with me and my luck on google was slim today. Thanks again!
  3. Ok, sorry but my rule book is at school and I have googled my brains out. If the free throw shooter catches the ball from the referee, goes up to get set, puts their foot on the free throw line, then moves it back behind the line, and shoots the ball...is it a violation. I always thought that is was only a violation if they were on or outside the line when the shot occurred. If possible, tell us what the terminology is from the rule book that TSSAA uses. I believe it is the NFHA book.
  4. Player catches the ball from the referee, takes a step back, her heel touches the the 3 point line?
  5. East Lit needs a free throw doctor. Missed 6 in overtime and who knows how many in the game. FRA is very fundamental and knocked down 6 threes. It is going to be a fun season in this district. Did Lipscomb and Ezell play tonight?
  6. East Lit was up 11 at the half and tied going into the fourth quarter. Just couldn't handle the basketball in the second half. You are right about free-throws, 15 of Luffman's 37 were from the line. She is a very good ball player. Kelli Cowan (East Lit) played a very good game scoring 22 points in the loss.
  7. You are wrong. That is how much time Kentucky had when they were down one. They called timeout and came down and scored, leaving Duke with 2.1 seconds. Then Duke called timeout and the rest is history.
  8. Marshall Co. 61 East Lit. 46 Thought our girls played a good game tonight, down 6 going into the fourth quarter. Marshall Co. is well coached and Lauren March is a great ball player. This was their 21st win in a row. This is a top notch program.
  9. Did Anna Mitchell (CPA) play against Father Ryan last night? I did not see her name in the box score.
  10. Did Anna Mitchell play tonight against Father Ryan? Did not see her name in the box score.
  11. Any observations on the Hume Fogg - McGavock game?
  12. What is the scouting report on Emily Boyd from CPA? Saw that she had 20 points in their overtime loss to Livingston Academy.
  13. I had no idea that Hume Fogg was in the mix to be leaving, wow!
  14. The jamboree schedule is in the Nashville City Paper today. I think that many people would disagree on us being "heavy" favorites in the district. Hume Fogg and CPA will be very tough, and I know Coach Smith will have your girls ready as well. We are gonna try and make it out to see you guys tonight against McGavock. Good luck!
  15. We play on Saturday 8pm at Hunters Lane against HL, but the Jamboree starts Thursday and is at multiple schools. Not sure which schools though, I will check that out for you.
  16. Assistant. I would rather not speak for the team about specifics of expectations, but I believe that any team in a position similar to ours would have a goal to improve and go farther than the year before.
  17. With Wilson Central being the 3A State Champion and returning 4 of 5 starters, I think it is safe to say they should handle East Literature easily. However, I do not think most people look at this time to try and stack up victories in scrimmages or play days. If a team goes out and plays better than average teams during this time, it should make them better when district play comes around. That is when victories matter. After you face Wilson Central and Hillsboro's full court presses, half court traps, and hard nose man to man defenses; it should make the game seem a lot slower come January.
  18. East Literature scrimmaged Glencliff yesterday and is playing Smyrna, Wilson Central, Franklin, and Hillsboro this Saturday at Hillsboro's playday.
  19. Shenita Gleaves is a good player and a great kid and is now playing at Trevecca. One of the incidents you keep, keep, keep, bringing up is Canady at FRA going down. This injury was something that had already occured during soccer. In that game, she did go down hard and made the injury worse. Nothing flagarant. The other incident you speak of frequently is the Ezell Harding player getting a concussion. This was a play in which she went up for a rebound and came down backwards and hit her head, a jump ball was called on the play. If you were at the District Championship Game, you would have saw that an East Literature player got fouled on a fast break in the 3rd quarter and got a concussion. She was advised to not go back in the game by the trainers and she didn't. The East Literature player had to sit out both games of the Region Tournament. Why has this play not been discussed on here, because most people believe that it is just basketball and stuff like this happens in basketball. Injuries happen all over the country every night in basketball. 10 people + fast pace +no pads + hustle + hard floor = high probablility for injury. I can see someone writing about those situations right after they happened in a moment of haste, before watching the film to see what really happened, but to be on here talking about it, inconspicuously, 9 months later, is absurd. May God be with these girls and help keep them free from injury during this special time of their lives.
  20. Congratulations. http://www.marshalltribune.com/story/1471354.html
  21. Who will be playing in this, if it is still on...
