The only thing I can say complimentary about that trip was our kids played hard, and the people up there treated us well. Keep your heads up Lions, and do all you can to prepare for Smith and Upperman!

There is a certain Coach of a 16U AAU team based out of Murfreesboro who had to be restrained and removed from the gym after cursing and taking a swing at his starting point guard at the Nationals in Orlando this past weekend. I advise all coaches to not ever allow him the time of day again, because he has no business being around kids. Cannon Co's point guard recieved the MVP of the Tourney (great accomplishment!!!) and his name was announced to go out to recieve his award. This sparked this moron of a coach initials C.A. to verbally abuse the kid saying that he did not deserve the award, and later threatened to beat his ___. Again, this idiot should not be allowed inside a gym again!

Who said they are not behind them... you? Did he? Why are we all supposed to get "behind" someone? Just do your job, teach the kids to excel after high school, work ethic, and to win football games. What improvement will be shown with the basketball coach's support? If they "get behind him" what will he gain? They have their own programs to worry about, and not asking Coach Shrenk for anything. I'm sure they want to see the team successful so that is not an issue, and you shouldn't come on here and make it sound like it is. Coach Shrenk is a big boy, and (form only meeting him twice) seems like a fine man who will do a decent job, so he doesn't need baskeball coaches to help him, nor should they or do they need him.--Good Luck Coach Shrenk, Dodgen, and Rigsby in all your res;pective sports.

I'm just saying that you can't contend losing games by double-digits when you get there. I'm rooting for them, I would love to see a gold ball in our district, but IMO they still have something to prove. This is due to them being "contenders" the last two years, and not having a good showing @ the Glass House.

I don't believe anyone is attempting to make this thread a CC vs SC situation. Yeah, we know if it wasn't for the town of Carthage we wouldn't have CoachT becuase there would be no internet, so for that you have our respect. You keep winning region titles and falling flat on your face in the post season. But hey, you get there and we don't so more respect for you guys from us! Congrats to Cannon Co.'s Emily Sissom for beinnin the list, she definitely deserves it.

I don't want to take away from LA's run in the past couple of years, but somehow or another in order for us to consider them "state contenders" they have to prove to us all that they can compete with the big boys @ Murphy Center. I am rooting for them, unless they play my team, but I believe they have to prove they can get over the hump. I thought they were there last year, and proved me completely wrong with their inability to guard in the 1st round last year. Just my opinion, I would be hesitant with all of the "contender" talk right now. The past has yet to prove it.

I agree with your opinion on Cannon Co. They do have to become consistent so they can compete night-in and night-out in an always tough district. I wouldn't say state-bound yet, that should be the next year when we are all seniors, however I belive this year there is no reason they should not compete for a district title, and make a run through the region to Sub-State, after that, who knows!

forgive me if I didn't state my point too clearly-I'm simply saying it is my opinion that Winning is the best way to recruit, rather than have to go speak to others. Sure you ask guys to come out to play, I just thought there might have been a better way to do it instead of catching the guys while they're at basketball practice. IMO, at that time, they're focus should be on basketball. He can ask them off the floor anytime he must. By the way, I did state previously that I had no problem sharing atheletes. Coach Shrenk, good luck! Warrior-from July to October basketball players can and should be working on their shot, those aren't wasted months. If you are dedicated to improving.

I saw my Lionnettes today and they played pretty well. I'm looking forward to good things from this bunch next year.

Shrenk came to talk to the basketball players about playing football the other day? Coach Rigsby must really trust the fact that his boys are committed, I'm not sure how many coaches would do that. I'm all for sharing and working together but don't think I'd invite this guy in when I don't even know him. I'm not sure I agree with Coach Rigsby on that one, his guys should be worried about summer camps. Are Coach Shrenks #'s that bad where he has to recruit basketball players? If he wins games like Barger, he won't have to recruit. Let the Wins do the talking. Just my opinion. Build your own program like Matt has had to do. He didn't ask for any help, or ever asked anyone to play. Good luck Coach Shrenk, I'll be rooting for you and your guys, all you need is 11 who buy in and work hardbut there are approximately 350 males at the school to recruit, you can be fine without the 20 or so basketball players. Matt, do yourself a favor and continue to build how you've been building-without any help or outside interference. Go Lions!
