  1. Agree - all final 4 games should be good. No one is safe at this point. CPA had little bench scoring yesterday either (Brown), although they usually do get some 3's from Cook and some inside bench scoring. CPA is very good but not unbeatable. IMHO, your only chance is to break pressure, find an open guy who can shoot and hit the shot. On defense, you have to stop penetration with a zone, and hope CPA is ice cold from outside.
  2. Sounds easy. Problem is - you are describing a half court defensive philosphy. CPA's game is transition and your plan won't work against that. Wonder if Spring Hill thought the same thing and that was why Wharton (who you don't mention) was leading scorer with 23 points?
  3. Stone is in the Final Four. Who would be foolish enough to not think they were good?
  4. Yeh, after 35 games this year, no one yet has played any intense defense against him. Every team, coach and player so far has just ignored him and hoped he wouldn't score. I can hear Stone's coach in the pregame now: "OK, guys, I have a plan - we need to play intense defense against Bradshaw" Give me a break.I love you armchair quarterbacks.
  5. As long as private schools are eligible for Div.I, it is their business where they choose to go - DI or DII. No one has a right to dictate to them what to do when they are not close to the situation. Believe it or not, there are considerations other than sports. I know this for a fact because I was present at the meeting a few years ago at CPA where it was discussed - all the pros and cons of DI vs. DII. One concern was that if you are DII, it is too tempting to push all scholorship money to good athletes rather than other types of students and need. Another was do you want your students to only compete and interact with other private schools. The AD welcomed all opinions then presented the input to the Board of Directors of the school, and a decision was made. The TSSAA gives the choice to the school.
  6. Spring Hill just couldn't handle the pressure or the speed of the dribble penetration. Actually, they shot the 3 very well. At one point in the 2nd half, they were 9-20 from 3. That is very good for a HS team, and kept the score from being even worse. They also shot their FT's well. #10 for Spring Hill was very impressive - a great player and he had a great game.
  7. Don't know final stats, but at one point in the 2nd half, Spring Hill was 9-20 from 3 point range. That's some awful good shooting, and they still lost by 20. Speed kills! The Stone-CPA game should be a good one. It's anyone's game at this point.
  8. Both CPA and CAK have trouble scheduling out of District games. Would love to see them play a home/away. Wonder why that has never happened, because you know it has been discussed? They are so similar in all ways - mission, athletics, etc.. CAK is a bit larger but every school in CPA's district is larger (some almost 3 times as large). It seems a bit crazy to me that both CPA and CAK schedule Lexington Christian but don't schedule each other. Does anyone have any inside info on this. Must be some reason that is not obvious.
  9. Has CPA played anybody yet? Beat #1 by 18.
  10. You can correct yourself again and apologize. I was not complaining about not being ranked. I just pointed out something most of us know anyway - that polls don't mean anything. It was a simple comment on the uselessness of polls, not a complaint. I could care less if they are ranked - they are in the Final 4, and that's all that matters. At least 7 of the teams (that according to your reasoning played killer schedules) that were ranked are done for the season.
  11. Interesting example this year of how useless polls are. CPA, if I am not mistaken, was never in the Top 10 in Tenn. this year even though they only lost 3 games (none to 2A teams) and won their last 20+ games.
  12. Thanks for the updates. DL will have to score 50+ in the 2nd half to win. Won't happen. Congrats to CPA boys and girls. Both won regular season district, district tourney, and region tourney. Don't know if that has ever happened in the Region. Also, CPA boys is still undefeated in District and Region. Wonder if that has ever happened?
  13. CPA's press is not the same as EL's. You can't break down CPA's press with dribbling downcourt like DL did to EL. Don't expect a close game, but I've been wrong before.
  14. May not be - I didn't have a watch when I saw him run, but I know one thing - HE IS FAST!
  15. Is he #21? If so, I agree. He was the difference; however, they beat EL by pushing the ball upcourt on the dribble and driving all the way to the lane for shot or dump off to someone else under basket. A few times they turned it over pushng it too hard and losing control of their dribble, but overall the strategy worked. They also limited EL's transition game which took away EL's quickness advantage. They won't be able to do that against CPA, IMO.
  16. Was very impressed with the scrappy and hardnosed play of Lipscomb against EL. However, they do not match up well with CPA. CPA will have to go ice cold and get in foul trouble for DL to win.
  17. Maplewood makes it a game in the 3rd quarter, but CPA blows it out in the 4th. Game was actually close until the 4th. CPA just has too many weapons.
  18. Will be at semis tomorrow but not finals. Not taking anything for granted. If you have a bad night and your opponent has a good one, it can be a quick end to a great season. East Lit is very good. If we meet them again, it is hard to beat a good team 4 times in a row.
  19. Not a CPA alum, a former CPA parent who still enjoys watching them. Regionals are at Stratford and it is the same bracket as the District 10 semis was. All District 10 teams won their first game. I know West Tn. has a right to be confident, but this CPA team is not your typical Mid. Tn. team. They have beat some really good teams this year in tournaments, including two top teams in Kentucky and one from LA. And the interesting thing is they start one senior (Belmont signee) and 4 sophomores. Better get them this year-they will be even better the next two years. They play full court, fast for 32 minutes and go 9 deep keeping everyone fresh.
  20. I agree with your post in general, and I certainly agree that, overall and historically, West Tenn. has the best basketball. It is hard to argue that. I would point out, however, that I believe you will be impressed this year and the next couple of years (they are very young) with CPA. SOS does not factor in their performance in tournaments with teams outside of Tenn.. A good strength analysis is unapproved website becasue they look at all opponents. CPA was very impressive in holiday tourneys against very good teams from other states (and countries), winning in a tourney in Ky. and finishing 2nd in the Arby's classic. They play like the W.TN. teams - quickness and pressure. That is what you have to do to be able to compete with the W.Tn. teams come tournament time.
  21. 9AA was underestimated last year by everyone, and they surprised folks. I can't see DL beating Macon on the road, or Greenbrier beating Maplewood, but it very easily could happen. CPA and EL should win easily.
  22. OK, so here's the deal! I am a CPA and 10AA fan who tries to talk basketball on a 10AA thread about basketball. You on the other hand are not a fan of a 10AA team, have some ax to grind, I'm guessin', with Coach Maddux because of interest or ties with AAU basketball, which cause you to jump on any opportunity you have (like 5Sportdad who can't get over losing Bradshaw)to do nothing but bash CPA on any thread they are mentioned. You have 10 posts (of your total 58) on this thread that take shots at CPA and CPA posters and add nothing constructive to the discussion. I'm through taking your bait and getting sucked into your negativism. So I repeat - get a life!
  23. You don't know me or what I think. But here is what I know. CPA is playing basketball and are eligible to do so. Until that changes, I am not going to put one ounce of effort worrying about what you or other haters think. No matter what I or other CPA fans say or do, you are not going to be happy, so go ahead and wallow in your hate and misery while I watch some great kids play some great basketball. Get a life, would ya?
  24. Are the first round games at Stratford or at higher seed teams gyms?
  25. I told them to send the invoices to you. You'll never miss that small amount. I also heard there is a kindergartner we're looking at but he will cost at least $50K and a new Mercedes.
