  1. What was Z's freethrow stats. It seemed he shot about 10 and didn't miss!

Be careful judging this situation. Anyone, including you, would not pass up the opportunity he had this year even though it meant not playing a sport he loves for a school and team he loves. The tough choices in life are not between what is good and bad, but what is between good and better.
  3. I didn't think it was one-sided. Typical "high school ref bad", but not one-sided. I have observed that when you have very quick and athletic teams playing in HS, the officiating does seem worse because the game is faster and that exposes poor officials. At least they didn't take the game away from the players by calling fouls on good defensive plays. They missed some call, but they always do. Anderson had to sit a while because of a bad call, but he plays the type of game that can easily get him in foul trouble if you have bad refs.In the 4th quarter, I thought the refs let HF get away with a little too much contact as they were pressuring to try to catch up, but I also thought the refs let some plays underneath go uncalled on both sides. As active as Z is contesting shots and rebounding, whenever he doesn't get in foul trouble, I can't complain about the refs too much. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Wow, he is definitely a D1 prospect next year. Does he have the grades and ACT to go anywhere?
  4. CPA led by 12 at half, and held off a very scrappy Hume Fogg squad in the 2nd half to win by 15. HF cut the lead to as little as 8 in the 4th quarter, but never got close despite another great performance by Williamson of HF. He is a great player, the best I have seen in the District along with Mason and Miller of CPA. Don't know how many he had tonight, but at least his average of 26. Z Mason was just too much inside for HF as CPA decided after the 1st quarter to drive and/or dish inside. Reeves had a great game for CPA, making a lot of driving layups. Anderson was in foul trouble most of the game. When you are guarding Williamson, it is very easy to get in foul trouble. CPA didn't play their best but that's to take nothing away from HF. They have some good athletes and quick hands that create a lot of pressure on an offense. They overplayed and took away the jumpers, but CPA was smart enough to realize that and drove past the pressure to get a lot of layups. Don't want to play HF in the District tourney - they could be a spoiler.
  5. Ever heard of the TSSAA? They set up the district - we didn't. So we scheduled 3 upper division teams in Ga., a Top 10 team in KY., Harpeth twice, Father Ryan, Livingston Academy, Memphis Melrose, and McGavock. Counting Lipscomb (who is a good 2A team), over 1/2 of our games have been against quality opponents. Only 3 losses to top flight, higher division teams outside of TN. We can't control the quality of our district opponents, only beat them - which we have.
  6. O.K. Well here is CPA's first margin of victory against district teams versus the 2nd margin of victory: FRA: 11 vs. 29 Lipscomb: 3 vs. 12 Pearl Cohn: 12 vs. 13 Ezell: 21 vs. 37 MLK: 26 vs. 35 Still to play again: Hume Fogg: 14 vs. ? East Lit: 48 vs. ? SO, we have blown out each opponent the 2nd time around and beat them worse versus the first. Any more questions? And by the way, we are AA, not A. Try to keep up.
  7. Didn't say CPA was better than McGavock, but they only played them once and beat them (on McGavock's floor), so I won't say McGavock is better, and you have no basis for saying so. Maybe CPA would win a 3 game series, especially if they played one of them at home. I also did not say CPA was better than Antioch. They don't play so we won't know. All I said was based on McGavock being able to play Antioch close, there is not a big gap in quality between the teams rated in the Top 10 in the Mid-State.

I'd take CPA's starting five against an all-star team from the rest of the district teams and feel very comfortable with my chances.

Watched CPA win an out-of-district game tonight against DCA. Final score: 84-49 (and the lead was over 40 before CPA emptied the bench for most of the 4th quarter. I haven't seen Williamson play, but give me Z and Miller as the top 2 players in the District. Of course, what is interesting is that Anderson on any other team would probably be the top scorer, even though he is third on CPA. His defense and court presence is amazing. He does so many things well. In the game tonight, CPA hit 7 three's in the first half. Don't know the final count. And Z had 3 monster dunks in the 2nd half - two of them on awesome alley oops from Miller that brought the house down. ESPN highlight stuff.

Have you seen CPA play?? Z is not only about scoring. He dominates the boards and totally takes away the other teams shots in the paint by blocking or altering almost every shot in close. And Z does more than just dunk. He has a good midrange jumper and even make a few threes. I haven't seen Williamson play, and he obviously is a great player and scorer, but Z's overall game and dominance inside makes him a great overall player. What makes CPA really good is that they have more than Z with Anderson, Peterson, Miller, Reeves, and good role players off the bench. They would win most games without Z, but they have a shot at the state with him.
  11. Soooo.... Antioch beats McGavock by 1 on Antioch's court tonight and.... CPA beats McGavock by 3 on McGavock's court earlier in the year Obviously not that much difference in the Top 10 in the Midstate.
  12. Where is District 9AA tourney played and Region 5AA tourney played?

CPA, after the FRA win, should finish up undefeated in 9A with only one road game left and not having to play FRA or DL again. Who will be #2 seed in tourney if DL beats FRA and both end up with 3 losses (2 to CPA and 1 to each other) in district? How does tiebreaker work?
