  1. Is this the CPA web-site now? Good to know senior night is going to be Thursday. And the lunchroom will be serving meatloaf and scalloped potatoes on Monday, Mr. Logan's 5th period class needs to report to the auditorium after school for library clean-up, and the CPA choir will peform at the West Nashville Boys and Girls club next Wednesday at 6:00p.m. Go lions!

Oops, forgot to mention Drew Maddux ($10 please).

    Jeez.

I respect CPA and their program as much as the next guy, but this a 9-AA thread, not the CPA basketball web-page. If we could have a little less "CPA is great" talk and a little more rounded discussion on the league and all it's teams and players that would be great. Just not so sure any of the CPA fans on this thread can even rationally discuss their team anymore. It seems they have just turned to fighting each other on inane things like will Will Chapman be a Lion next year or go on tour as the lead bassist for Brooks and Dunn. Whatever.

First part of your post is funny. Now concerning the second part:

    1. It is a forum. You have a right to make your posts and so does eveyone else. Your complaint is a lack of rounded discussion on the league, yet you make a post that doesn't involve that at all, so you are part of the problem you describe.

    2. All the teams have a right to post anything as much as they want about their team, but few are doing it. If you will look back a couple of days, CPA fans wrote several posts about Williamson at HF.

    3. It is difficult to have a great "rounded discussion" about a league when it is experiencing dominance by one team. That dominance may end at any time and may be temporary, but the other teams' fans just don't seem motivated to make posts. Don't criticize CPA fans for keeping the thread alive.

Th answer is not to silence or criticize the content of CPA posters, but for the other schools' fans to get involved and offer another viewpoint.

  2. Z Mason of CPA had a followup dunk on a fast break miss that he threw down on the rebound behind his head. Unfortunately, a foul was called on the missed layup and his dunk didn't count.

He averages about 3 dunks a game, but this one was the best I've seen.

  3. No judgement - played last year - not this year - play next year?

Probably will be in school. Wants to graduate with his friends he has been with since elementary school. I'm sure Maddox would welcome him back, but the competition for paying time next year will be tough. 3 starters back and lots of young talent on the bench that will be even better next year. There are also a couple of good players who didn't play this year, other than Chapman, that may be back next year. Time will tell.

Z is a special player that only comes along once in many years, but the program looks good in the future with the 8th grade (lots of size), Fresh, and Soph. classes.

  4. Chapman

Be careful judging this situation. Anyone, including you, would not pass up the opportunity he had this year even though it meant not playing a sport he loves for a school and team he loves.

The tough choices in life are not between what is good and bad, but what is between good and better.

  5. I felt like the refs were lopsided once again tonight. Was is just me? Two of those refs have consistently been tough when calling CPA's games this year. It's getting a little rediculous.

I didn't think it was one-sided. Typical "high school ref bad", but not one-sided. I have observed that when you have very quick and athletic teams playing in HS, the officiating does seem worse because the game is faster and that exposes poor officials. At least they didn't take the game away from the players by calling fouls on good defensive plays. They missed some call, but they always do. Anderson had to sit a while because of a bad call, but he plays the type of game that can easily get him in foul trouble if you have bad refs.In the 4th quarter, I thought the refs let HF get away with a little too much contact as they were pressuring to try to catch up, but I also thought the refs let some plays underneath go uncalled on both sides. As active as Z is contesting shots and rebounding, whenever he doesn't get in foul trouble, I can't complain about the refs too much. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    He is a junior.

Wow, he is definitely a D1 prospect next year. Does he have the grades and ACT to go anywhere?

  6. CPA led by 12 at half, and held off a very scrappy Hume Fogg squad in the 2nd half to win by 15. HF cut the lead to as little as 8 in the 4th quarter, but never got close despite another great performance by Williamson of HF.

He is a great player, the best I have seen in the District along with Mason and Miller of CPA. Don't know how many he had tonight, but at least his average of 26.

Z Mason was just too much inside for HF as CPA decided after the 1st quarter to drive and/or dish inside. Reeves had a great game for CPA, making a lot of driving layups. Anderson was in foul trouble most of the game. When you are guarding Williamson, it is very easy to get in foul trouble.

CPA didn't play their best but that's to take nothing away from HF. They have some good athletes and quick hands that create a lot of pressure on an offense. They overplayed and took away the jumpers, but CPA was smart enough to realize that and drove past the pressure to get a lot of layups.

Don't want to play HF in the District tourney - they could be a spoiler.

  7. WOW, tough schedule!!!!!!!!

Ever heard of the TSSAA? They set up the district - we didn't. So we scheduled 3 upper division teams in Ga., a Top 10 team in KY., Harpeth twice, Father Ryan, Livingston Academy, Memphis Melrose, and McGavock. Counting Lipscomb (who is a good 2A team), over 1/2 of our games have been against quality opponents.

Only 3 losses to top flight, higher division teams outside of TN. We can't control the quality of our district opponents, only beat them - which we have.

  8. I'll say this again, if you play the same team 3x, you had better improve with each game. Has CPA blown out every team in their district the 2nd time around, probably not. Oh there is a difference, CPA is a quality team, I give them that. But competing on a high level every game in AAA is a big difference than the A ranks.

O.K. Well here is CPA's first margin of victory against district teams versus the 2nd margin of victory:

    FRA: 11 vs. 29

    Lipscomb: 3 vs. 12

    Pearl Cohn: 12 vs. 13

    Ezell: 21 vs. 37

    MLK: 26 vs. 35

    Still to play again:

    Hume Fogg: 14 vs. ?

    East Lit: 48 vs. ?

SO, we have blown out each opponent the 2nd time around and beat them worse versus the first. Any more questions?

And by the way, we are AA, not A. Try to keep up.

  9. Sooo, 1st meeting b/w Ant-McG Ant by 17; 2nd mtg, Ant by 12; 3rd mtg, Ant by 1. Bottom line is they got it done. Let CPA play McGavock 3 times and see how many they win.

Didn't say CPA was better than McGavock, but they only played them once and beat them (on McGavock's floor), so I won't say McGavock is better, and you have no basis for saying so. Maybe CPA would win a 3 game series, especially if they played one of them at home.

I also did not say CPA was better than Antioch. They don't play so we won't know.

All I said was based on McGavock being able to play Antioch close, there is not a big gap in quality between the teams rated in the Top 10 in the Mid-State.

  10. Watched CPA win an out-of-district game tonight against DCA. Final score: 84-49 (and the lead was over 40 before CPA emptied the bench for most of the 4th quarter.

I haven't seen Williamson play, but give me Z and Miller as the top 2 players in the District. Of course, what is interesting is that Anderson on any other team would probably be the top scorer, even though he is third on CPA. His defense and court presence is amazing. He does so many things well.

In the game tonight, CPA hit 7 three's in the first half. Don't know the final count.

And Z had 3 monster dunks in the 2nd half - two of them on awesome alley oops from Miller that brought the house down. ESPN highlight stuff.

  11. williamson is putting up more points per game and without the supporting cast that zeek has. there is no hunter miller on hume fogg so that means that williamson is putting up 24 a game on the other temas best defender while hunter miller feeding zeek to dunk the ball...if anything miller is better than zeek. their offense doesnt run unless miller brings the ball up the court and makes things happen by driving the lane. williamson can do it from anywhere without a hunter miller or anderson..cpa may be the better overall team but willaimson is the better overall player

Have you seen CPA play?? Z is not only about scoring. He dominates the boards and totally takes away the other teams shots in the paint by blocking or altering almost every shot in close.

And Z does more than just dunk. He has a good midrange jumper and even make a few threes.

I haven't seen Williamson play, and he obviously is a great player and scorer, but Z's overall game and dominance inside makes him a great overall player. What makes CPA really good is that they have more than Z with Anderson, Peterson, Miller, Reeves, and good role players off the bench. They would win most games without Z, but they have a shot at the state with him.

  12. CPA, after the FRA win, should finish up undefeated in 9A with only one road game left and not having to play FRA or DL again.

Who will be #2 seed in tourney if DL beats FRA and both end up with 3 losses (2 to CPA and 1 to each other) in district? How does tiebreaker work?
