  1. Don't know how she could have scored most of those points after the game was decided, because it wasn't decided until the last few seconds. CF almost came back and beat them.
  2. True...wartburg has several players that stepped up and played one of the best games they have played all year, but no one player from wartburg clearly stands out as MVP of the ENTIRE tournament. Though CF has some good athletes, without Jordan, they couldn't have made it to the championship game. She is beyond a doubt the MVP. You would think adults could admit when a kid deserves something no matter what team or rivalry they play for.
  3. Yes. She had 36 at half time and only played about 4 min in the 3rd to bring it to 46.
  4. I agree that kids may just want to move to programs like CR or JC and not somewhere like Coalfield, but one has to admit there seems to be a pattern of athletes that transfer/move in their high school years at these schools. It happens almost every year that a best player from a local team moves to one. Maybe its done legally and no recruiting is involved, but that doesn't change the fact that it makes it much more difficult for other teams to compete that don't have the luxury of collecting all the best athletes in the area. High school basketball is trying to imitate AAU or college and I think it takes away from the experience. Oh well, not like its going to change, just stating my opinion. The JC girls work hard for their wins as do other teams like CR, but my point is that I find it much more impressive when teams like Oliver Springs make it to the championship game with the same girls that played together since middle school. I feel like that is what high school sports is all about. Representing the school and community that you've grown up in and giving back by bringing all the excitement and pride championships have to offer.
  5. Actuall, coalfield only has about 200 in their high school (graduating between 40-50 every year). It's a K-12, so possibly 500 in the whole school. Every girl grew up in Coalfied schools as well! Unlike JC and CR!
  6. I really hope you are just some idiot teenager trying to play adult and not an actual moron. If you are a kid...excuse me for what I'm about to say...If your an adult...GROW UP! How could any normal human being make fun of a group of kids that made it to the elite eight in their A. Coalfield girls worked hard this season and overcame a lot of hurdles that were thrown their way. Sure they had their ups and downs and they looked scared to death in the State Tourney, but that’s to be expected from a school that is not used to a state appearance every year. Jackson county has made several trips to Murfreesboro in recent history as well as having a miss basketball candidate in Laken for three years. I would be proud of any team from District 4 a making it to state. If you can't post a somewhat intelligent comment stay off of the computer and get a life! By the way…the girls are staying the rest of the week anyway…because they deserve it…so…you probably should quit talking about them going back to school, because you sound like an imbecile.
  7. I hate when people blame a loss on officiating because there are so many more variables that go into a game. Good teams win in spite of officiating. I agree that the TWO fouls at the end of that game are not usually called and are usually called as jump balls. However, BOTH were fouls. If refs call it at the beginning…they should call it at the end too. Players shouldn’t be allowed to hammer each other at the end of the game trying to get the ball because the refs aren’t going to call it. If the OS player would have hit her free throws I doubt OS fans would be saying “Umm, yah the refs were the one that won that game for us.” Either way…it’s up to the players to win the game. Boxing out, hitting layups, playing great defense, hitting free throws, playing as a team, or just plain getting hot and being able to score that night are just a few of the many thing that can change a ball game. I don’t think this game should be said that the refs caused OS to lose. Truly the officiating was inconsistent and really bad BOTH WAYS. Both teams played hard and Coalfield deserves the credit for doing what it took to win and being the better team that night. Once again, congrats to Coalfield and Wartburg for making it this far. I hope both teams are heading to Mboro next week.
  8. Two Morgan County teams in the Region Championship game. Great job to Coalfield and Wartburg. Hope they both win their substate games and represent this area well.
  9. Great job to district 4. The results really show how competitive this district really is. Anyone could be on top. The semi finals should be really interesting. Great job to oakdale. the girls have a great attitude and snow is an amazing coach.
  10. Oliver Springs will have to play at Midway.
  11. Oliver Springs plays #4 Wartburg plays #3 Coalfield plays #2 Oakdale plays #1 Tellico Plains Harriman Rockwood Midway
  12. That's an ignorant statement about AJ. I think she averages about 3 or 4 assists a game. And unlike when KC played, every play does not revolve around her. Half of the time she isn't running the point so she doesn't even have the ball in her hands as much as the other did. P.S. who cares? why are you comparing the two still? KC is not playing high school ball. She is an amazing athlete, but not relevant here anymore. AJ is a kid, she has her own issues to deal with, with out an adult accusing her of being a ball hog. Obviously, you haven't seen her play very often. As a leading scorer, she has to take several shots a game, but she still looks for her teammates. Coalfield needs to keep playing as a team like they did against Oakdale and not worry what everyone else thinks. They know if they all play their best and as a team, no one in this district or the other can touch them. Congrats to the Lady Cats. They played hard in the tourney and surprised a lot of people .
  13. The CR girls play hard every single game! It doesn't matter if they are in the state championship game or playing a team that hasn't won a game all season. You can tell those girls live and breathe basketball and that they love it. They are also very well disciplined and coached. If you watch them before, after, or even during time outs or breaks, they ALWAYS run on and off the court. They always pay attention to their coach when he is speaking. They do this for their coach and for themselves because they know what it takes to be champions. Their chemistry is great and you can't focus on one player, because another one will eat you alive. You can tell that they are close because they play well together and even the players on the bench participate when their not in the game by cheering the others on. I love watching them play...except when we are the opponent lol. They are a great basketball team. Congrats to the Lady Buffalos and good luck in the championship game. You deserve the win. Congrats to the Lady Cats for a great season. The seniors have left behind a great legacy to be proud of.
  14. I agree...stupid comments like those show the author's ignorance and immaturity. If you don't have anything better to do than get on here and vent you jealousy, then you seriously need to get a life. Kayla is a great athlete and has worked hard to get where she is. She is better than a lot of other girls at basketball (and many boys for that matter!), and that is something to be proud of! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Good luck to the Lady Bobcats and the Lady Dawgs! Represent this district with class and pride!
  15. And Wartburg looks much better now than they did in the middle of the season because of that fact.
  16. It's so hard to know this early... it depends on who works hard in the off season (AAU, summer camps, etc), injuries, and most of all...who wants it the most. Based on talent possibilities I would say Coalfield Oneida OS Oakdale/wartburg Sunbright However, talent doesn't always equal success. OS girls have always played with heart and determination. I'm sure the girls comming up will not be any different, and there is a lot of young, raw talent there. (even though they haven't been utilized in games for experience, practicing with the seven seniors from this year is bound to make them better) Oneida is a tournament team. Even though they may lose players this year, they have a very good coach, and he will find a way to make them successful. Oakdale is losing a very strong leader and player in Peace, but there is a lot of young talent with desire and a lot of experience from this past year. Wartburg will have Fountain and Bunch, but it will hurt losing Chapman, Armes, and Freels. But once again...it comes down to who wants it. Sunbright has some young ones that will supprise people. Coalfield will have everyone back next year so they have no excuse for not being on top with the talent there. If they can keep a positive, team attitude then they will be successful. They are there own worst enemy. The girls need to decide if they truely want to be on top, or if they just want to be third in the district again and out the first round of regions. But like I said, who knows? Should be interesting. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  17. I agree...If they decide to play as a team and share the common goal of making it to state, they will be successful. They are all great players, they just need to realize to be a great TEAM, they need each other. Good Luck next year! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. If Wartburg manages to keep it close, they will have to find a way to stop Christopher from taking over. If Wartburg works hard on defense and out rebounds OS on both ends, they could keep it close...but KC has a way of taking charge and pulling out the win. I think OS is ready for revenge from last year though. I pick OS by 10.
  19. I'm pretty sure that even if Jordan didn't play at all, coalfield should have killed Greeback. The other girls should have stepped it up. Anyone that watched the game could see they didn't give it their best. And Jordan played the whole game with only a couple of rests. She didn't move like she was injured at all. So I don't think that is a valid excuse.
  20. I hope so...based on the talent there, they should be District Champs, but if they want to beat teams like Oneida, oliver springs, and Wartburg their going to have to work hard all season long and not fizzle out during tournament time. This year, we saw Oneida rise to the challenge in the district and now Wartburg in the region. Those two (including OS) are tournament teams because they step up their game at this time every year. Coalfield needs to push even harder during tournament time...not just show up and half-way play. Hopefully they will understand this by next season. They saw this year that winning a lot of games during the season doesn't mean squat when you belly up in the tournaments.
  21. Not just seniors, but a true leader...the coach can only do so much, but a good student leader can change a team's total perspective.
  22. Even though all the players will be back next year, they will end up in the same position next year...sitting at home while everyone else competes for state...if they don't find some kind of desire to win. It seems like they are all just there. Every once in a while they show a glimps of effort, but in the end of the season they just looked like they had to be there...not that they wanted to. The hustle in the Wartburg game was much better, but they have to learn that they can't just turn it on and off. If they want to compete the way OS does every year, they need to be as driven as they are. Oliver Springs girls always seem to hustle...no matter if they are playing a team like Clark Range or one like Midway. They play to win and better themselves. Coalfield didn't even try against great teams like CR or Webb... they folded. And, They play down to lower levels of competition. you can't expect to be a championship team if you do not try hard and make yourself better EVERY SINGLE GAME. Sounds like the girls and parents need to stop pointing fingers and making excuses and take some responsibility. There are a few girls that work hard and they don't need to let the poor atitudes and habits of others influence them. Hopefuly the girls will learn from this season and work hard on the off season, and next year come back ready to do what ever it takes to win...when it matters.
  23. Both games were amazing. Wartburg came out with a vengeance and never let up. They were after it on defense and on target on offence. Chapman played an amazing game...seemed like she couldn't miss. Coalfield finally showed that they want to win. They kept on pushing and gave it their all. They played really well together and no one seemed to try to take over the game...they relied on each other. It was a great game to watch. I think both teams will do great in the region if they keep their drive. The OS and Oneida game was intense. Oneida showed that they are not the same team from regular season. Every player hustled and contributed. They got on the floor for loose balls, showed patience on offence, and shot the ball incredibly well. However, they couldn't stop Christopher. Oneida held the lead the whole game in spite of Christopher's amazing performance, but lost it in the end. All of the OS players stepped up their defense the last couple of minutes and caused some crucial turnovers and hit some game- changing shots. Both games were great...I would definitely pay 10 dollars to see those two games all over again. Congrats to all the teams and good luck in the region! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  24. The coalfield coach is pregnant and before the CR game, she got very sick. She was so sick she almost passed out during the game and had to be rushed out afterward. I think the only reason she made herself stay on the bench was so that people wouldn't think she was quiting on her team. The coalfield players have to take some pride in their game and learn to play hard to win no matter who the opponent is. It seems all the remaining teams in this district give it all they have in these final games, but I haven't seen the intensity needed in coalfield since earlier in the season. They need to find that again.
  25. I think Coalfield will beat Oneida by 10+ Oliver Springs will beat Wartburg by 15 And the championship game will be a fun one to watch. I hope the Lady Jackets are ready to step it up for tournament time...I know Oneida, Wartburg, and Oliver Springs are in it to win it! Good luck lady jackets! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
