  1. No, I do not think they should have pulled him out, but that is a little different situation, in my opinion. I honestly would not have even had a problem with them rescheduling these two games with Cumberland Gap (which is who they were supposed to play their cancelled two games with in the first place). I have a problem with them rescheduling the games 1. as girls only, 2. ONLY to give her a chance to break the record, not for the better of the team, and 3. with inferior teams (which they beat both by 20 or more and only won around 12 games the whole year) just to let this girl score a lot of points (more than 60 in these two games combined). She now holds the record by around 10 points.
  2. Actually, at least one person agreed. Plus, I don't know this, but I think that a lot of people on the defense are family and friends of Lowe or faculty from the school, so I really don't feel too bad about giving my opinion.
  3. In case you haven't noticed, "P", no one is saying anything negative about Kate Lowe personally at all. This is about the coaching staff and athletic department. And yes, even if she were second, I would still be upset about the way the situation was handled. Even if the record weren't broken, it is the way they tried to do it. So, P, before you go calling people jealous and "player haters", maybe you should understand what the argument is. And, not to mention, this is not a debate on anyone's character; this is a debate on how a situation was handled (I thought we had already established that). And, not to be rude, but I think that calling her one of the best players in the state is going a little far...maybe you should get "out of the county lines" a little more yourself. I am not saying that she's not a pretty good player, but one of the best in the state, no.
  4. Wow, I hadn't heard that. It is a bit of a surprise considering the circumstances (that they have already announced it). I wonder how they do verify the points and how they know for sure. Only the home teams books are official, so in order to know positively, they would have to go through a lot of trouble. Is that not right? Sometimes points are hard to verify because sometimes books seem to disappear, wether it be from disgruntled coaches or just misplacing.
  5. No, I don't think that was it because it doesn't help your seed in the tournament to play two non-district games to Knoxville Ambassadors and Lynn Camp, Ky.
  6. No, it is certainly not a personal attack. I have not once mentioned anything negative about Kate Lowe or anything to do with her. The only people I have a problem with is the coaching staff and athletic department at the school. I have a problem with the only mission for the whole year being to break a record. I have a problem with the coaches admitting that the only reason for scheduling those games was to give her a chance to break the record. They did not schedule those games for tune ups. The teams were so bad it didn't help at all.
  7. There are ways around the number of games. Before you go assuming she broke the record in less games, maybe you should learn the rules completely. Even though you are only allowed to play 24 games a year (according to the tssaa), Hall of Fame games do not count toward that total. Also, you can schedule at least two tournaments a year, and that tournament only counts as two games regarless of how many games you play in those tournaments. So, if you would think about it logically and quit jumping to conclusions, there can be quite a few games added on to those 24. Depending on the set up of the tournament, that could be at least an extra 5-7 games onto a schedule. So don't act like you know the facts of the situation. I don't think anyone really does unless they are the faculty or staff of Scott High and can tell us how many games it was done in. And to be honest, it doesn't even matter. I agree with what someone said earlier, a career is a career; things change; there will always be more and less games. Players' teams that go further in the post season touraments have a better chance at scoring more points. I am only debating the way the record was achieved.
  8. For one, I know it happens a lot, sometimes you just don't have time at the end of the year to get all the games in. My other point is that they didn't reschedule with the same team; they scheduled with two different inferior teams with two "girls only" games. If the school was so set on getting those two games played and rescheduled for the girls, why didn't the boys need to make up those games, too? Would that not have been fair to the boys team? ...I would say Scott High's boys coach had a little more sense and did not want to take a chance at his boys getting hurt in meaningless games with inferior opponents right before the district tournament. I am not trying to debate the fact that Lowe is a pretty good player...or the fact that she is a good person (I don't even really know anything about her). I am saying that the coaching staff, athletic department, and school should not have done this. Not only do I consider it dishonest, but it is not what records are about. I know records are made to be broken, but they are made to be broken honestly. It is just my opinion that the situation was handled poorly.
  9. Trust me; I am not the only one with a problem. There has actually been a lot of negative talk about it...and some positive, too, so that's why I brought it up. It just so happens that a lot of people think that just because someone plays for four years on a bad team, they deserve an award or something. Everone for the last decade playing for Scott High has played for a bad team for four years.
  10. Do you think that games do not get cancelled every year for snow and other reasons? They didn't reschedule with the same team; they found teams that were no good to play instead. Not to mention, they tried to schedule even more games than just these; I guess other coaches just realized how silly it was to play a game that doesn't matter two days before the start of the district tournamant. I am not saying that she is not any good. I think she's a pretty good ball player, but I think this is dishonest. I feel like if you can't break the record in the games alloted, you should not break the record. I don't imagine that if Pat Summit were one win away from 1000 they would add a game on to the end of the season.
  11. Actually, I don't have a child that plays for Scott, thank goodness. I just know what happened and think it's ridiculous. I just feel for the other kids who had to put up with all of this. And in response to everyone that says Scott has a young team, thay always have a young team. That is always the excuse for not being able to compete. Eventually you just have to admit that they aren't very good and they have terrible coaching and a bad athletic department. Since 1998, they have had 6 coaches, and in my opinion that shows that the athletic department stinks. You have to give someone a chance to develp a program and these kids. Not to mention, since 1998, they always use the excuse that they're young. So what; a lot of teams are young.
  12. Recently, a senior at Scott High School in Scott County broke the all-time scoring record at their school by about 10 points in their last game (a loss in the district tournament). The problem is that during the whole season, this seemed to be the team's only objective. This girl played pretty much every game from tip-off to buzzer without a break. Even if the team was up by 20 or losing by 20, she was in the game. Every play was designed to her. They had a few games cancelled for snow, and all but two were rescheduled. The coaches of Scott High then realized that there was no way she could break the record, so the week before and of the district tournament, they added two games onto the schedule just so this girl could break the all-time scoring record of their school. They actually tried to schedule more games, but no one else would agree to it so close to tournament time. The sad part is that the games they scheduled were teams that the school had never played before, and, not to be rude, but they were also terrible. In those games she racked up over 60 points. The coaching staff actually even admitted the reason they were doing this, and it was because of the scoring record. In my opinion, this is terrible. I look down on the coaching staff, the athletic department, the principal, and the school board of this school. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that your only objective is to break a scoring record. Not only that, but it is unfair to the rest of the team. And how fair is this to the old record holder? In my opinion, this should not be allowed. Why even have a record if you want to break it this way? Maybe they should just choose who they want, take their picture, and hang it on the wall; It's pretty much the same thing. This makes me realize that I would certainly not want a child playing in this athletic department. And if I were an opposing coach, I would not even want to play them. Please give me your opinion.
  13. The Oakdale/Oneida game has been cancelled.
  14. Can anyone give some information on the Grace Christian girls tournament going on? I have looked everywhere for scores and stats and cannot find them anywhere. How did the Grace/Scott game turn out? And does anyone have stats from that game on both teams?
  15. I think the Lady Highlanders have a good chance tonight. Like you said, they have been playing pretty well lately. Maybe tonight they will get their second district win on the season! But I'm sure Kingston will play them a tough game.
