  1. 52-2 Record. Beat Beech twice and Riverdale. Set National record for most hits in a season (578) with a team batting average of .433, counting all 16 players who hit. Scored 418 runs while allowing 31. AAA State Champs and ESPN Rise #4. Soddy Daisy really was that good
  2. Loaded bats come from the manufacturer with the weight distributed either at the handle or at barrel per design specifications. The bats Soddy Daisy players use come from mainly Rocket Tech or Easton factories meeting all TSSAA requirements. This means they (the bats) are not illegal; the bats meet the standards set forth by the states governing body. I apologies for not writing clearly for you to understand my last post where I meant the players not the bats are the reason for Soddy Daisy’s success at the plate.
  3. Even loaded bats must arrive at the ball correctly during a swing to be effective. The best answer was penned in the article below from an outstanding coach and gentleman that knows softball. TheCityPaper Preps: Three feet has made a world of difference this softball season Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 2:19pm By Harold Huggins Three feet – one measly yard – has made a significant difference this season in high school girls softball. That’s the opinion of many, including veteran Ezell-Harding coach Don Freudenthal, whose teams have won 12 state championships and who recently won his 700th career game. Per a new national rule implemented before the season started, the distance of the pitching rubber to home plate for girls softball was moved from 40 feet back to 43. “It has really changed the game,” Freudenthal said. “I’ve always felt that games were won on the basis of pitching and defense, because of the dominance a team could have with a good pitcher. But that’s changed, and hitting has come more into the equation. “I’ve noticed that scores of games have been significantly higher than last year’s and previous years, and I think that’s directly because the mound is further back.” The top pitchers are still that – top pitchers, Freudenthal said. “The really good ones like Holly Hockaday at Davidson Academy and the pitcher at Soddy Daisy (Kelsey Nunley) are still having success because they are outstanding pitchers and have enough power to get their stuff past hitters,” he said. “Some good pitchers, who don’t throw that much heat, are having a bit more trouble, because the hitters have slightly more time to adjust their swing. “Our pitcher, Caylee Bobo, is very good, but she’s not someone who can overpower you. If she makes a mistake or gets a pitch up too much, it’s going to get hit.”
  4. Might want to work on syntax and sentence structure before heading off on your college career? You may need to go back to school and learn that statements end with a period (.) not a question mark (?) PERIOD (.)
  5. Hey wildukcats, your two sister-in-laws; one is a phamacist and the other was the pitching coach at V Tech when they beat Team USA in Softball. The ONLY college team to pull off the event since Team USA started. This is only two of the success stories that Soddy Daisy ball players have enjoyed over the 20 years of Clifford coaching the program. Wildukcats your sister-in-laws are two wonderful people as well as your wife.
  6. Soddy-Daisy Tops Bob Jones For Choo Choo Classic Gold Title Lady Trojans Avenge Friday Loss to Alabama Team by special report to The Chattanoogan posted April 18, 2010 Soddy-Daisy's Lady Trojans lost their second game of the season Friday in the Choo Choo Classic at the Summit of Softball Complex. It took only one day to avenge that 2-0 loss to Bob Jones, which is ranked No. 3 in Class 6A in Alabama. The Lady Trojans, ranked No. 25 nationally, beat Bob Jones, 5-4, on Saturday and won the Choo Choo Gold title. Soddy-Daisy moved to 37-2 overall. The other loss was to District 5-AAA rival Ooltewah, 1-0, in the Brentwood Invitational. Soddy-Daisy is 2-1 against the Lady Owls this year The Lady Trojans took a 5-0 lead over Bob Jones in the championship game, but the Lady Patriots rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Bob Jones finished the tournament at 41-11. (E-mail Stan Crawley at wscrawley@earthlink.net)
  7. Hey TBALLEXPERT "Softy Daisy" are you kin to Coach JV at Coffee Co, known for "Soggy Daisy". After he put down our fields a few weeks ago they have been dry and we have played all our games.
  8. Soddy Daisy has three freshman that are doing well starting at least part-time. Left Fielder, Cassidy Hackney Pitcher, Tori Denayer 13-1 Catcher, Morgan Bailey
  9. Soddy Daisy Defeats GPS for the Gibbs Tournament Championship
  10. The Soddy Daisy Invitational Tournament went well and you did a great job setting the teams up and having the park ready to play. We had no canceled games due to bad weather like other tournaments west of the mountains. I guess God must have read the insult of the LITTLE Soddy Kids Park post on another message board and blessed us with great softball weather blowing apart the bad storm front before it reached us. Several players were hurt playing hard for their teams. Please keep them in your prays for a speedy recovery.
  11. Richie, Soddy always has a good tournament and I don't know why on the timing other than probably a lot of schools are on spring break this week. I will say that this Southern Classic is a good idea and from what I have seen is being run very well. They have a text message alert system that anyone can sign up for, for free that will alert people of weather delays, etc. and they have chosen fields that can handle a lot of water if it does rain. That is the way we got into it through the back door last year. It rained that weekend and there were teams in here from out of state wanting to play ball. The Coffee County parents banned together and got our field playable within a couple of hours when almost everyone else in the state was rained out. I think us, Lincoln County and Riverdale were the only schools that had games going on that Friday night. This is not meant to be bashing Soddy at all but I still remember you guys standing in the middle of the Soddy Lake ball fields with shop vacs trying to get the fields playable. We lost games and playing time that year because the fields were not playable. That is a big factor to coaches when they decide where to go. And again, this is not beant to bash Soddy, but being able to play at a top notch facility like Coffee County, Riverdale, etc. (give credit to parents and booster clubs for building them) is a no brainer compared to the little public park that Soddy uses. (our kids still call it Soggy Daisy) In my opinion Jeff and Weave and all the folks they have pulled together have just set the bar pretty high for future high school softball tournaments in Tennessee. You calling me out was poor on your part when I gave good reasons teams from the middle of the state are not coming to Soddy Daisy this year. Then you poor mouth the park and ballfield. I could go on Jay but your opinion is ...NOT WORTH much aound here, well until May.
  12. Do not knock the field or park we play on then Jay, with your demeaning comments as you did!
  13. This is meant to be bashing Soddy at all but I still remember you guys standing in the middle of the Soddy Lake ball fields with shop vacs trying to get the fields playable. We lost games and playing time that year because the fields were not playable. That is a big factor to coaches when they decide where to go. Well Hello Jay Vincent. Why not tell the audience the rest of the store. The rain came down in sheets, a light pole was snapped in half from the winds and the water ran like Soddy Creek over the fields. We played that Saturday when tournaments all around were canceled. The Little Soggy Daisy park with 225 foot fence is home to 6 time AAA state champs.
  14. Ocoee Middle school did play Soddy Daisy Middle this season in the ASA Tournament at Warner Park. Now back to this post; many schools do not want to get home late from the SD Lady Trojan Tournament because of Easter Sunday services. Another reason I heard from the middle of the state. I guess the team from Ohio did not get that message.
  15. The Soddy Daisy Tournament has been played for 20 years now! The same place, same time, asking the very best from all over to come and play, we cull no one. Why would the Warrior's hold a tournament the same time as Soddy Daisy? I was told the pitching mounds of dirt on the fields because one player got hurt years ago whlie backing up to catch a fly ball. Hey Tennesee, the dirt mounds are gone! Next reason...
  16. Last year Soddy Daisy's Kelsey Nunley was the Chattanooga Times-News Free Press Player of the Year, As A Freshman. This years talent has 7 freshman who could start for most of the teams listed in this post. Good news, next years crop will yeild about 7 more freshman who will be in our talent pool
  17. Soddy Daisy 11 Franklin Co. 0, Soddy Daisy 6 Harpeth Hall 0, Soddy Daisy 10 Siegel 0. That is 6-0 with SD out scoring 65 to zero. Tori struck out 7 batters in her no hitter, the second one of the night. Talk about outstanding freshman.
  18. When boys enter middle school, they pitch from 60 feet and 6 inches from then until pros with the same size ball. Softball girls can make that same jump as well and be ready for their future. Boys who can’t handle the game get rocked, girls welcome to equality. Become better pitchers or coaches prepare a better defensive team behind her.
  19. Make that; Soddy Daisy 38 to zero. SD defeated Cleveland 15-0 in a game yesterday. Today Rhea Co. visits Soddy Daisy @ Soddy Kids Park if the rain holds off.
  20. It is the goal at Soddy Daisy to win the state every year. This is Clifford Kirk's 20th year at Soddy Daisy and he has 6 AAA Championships to his credit. This year’s team has players who are excellent softball athletes with the freshman being an outstanding class. The two teams SD beat have won 4 State Championships in the past two years. While the statement to win the state is bold, it does follow in the footsteps of UT Lady Vols basketball program, where the program and players have high expectations. As Saban tells his players at Alabama …work to be your best and the rest will take care of itself. True proof is in the pudding, the players have a goal: Paving the road to the state.
  21. You can find the field and game times on the following link: http://www.eteamz.com/soddydaisytrojans/index.cfm? Go to News and Information
  22. Has Soddy Daisy signed up Mr. Hooters?
  23. Jackie Baird is the best, she is back and able to play at 100%. Go ahead and make her day try to run on her. There's the bench!
  24. Cheyenne Willis has commited to The UT Chattanooga Mocs program. One of the fastest players around she will help Coach Reed's Mocs remain a Southern Conference Power.
  25. I know a Florida coach came up to me at a Fall travel tournament wanting to know about Nunley from Soddy Daisy. They like her a lot!
