Covington won in overtime by about 10 or so points. Don't know the final score, just what a friend told me that was at the game.

not sure with a minute left it was a 6 point game, but later found out it went into OT, but haven't found out the results

Yes im aware of this, i wasn't saying GCHS picked them, I meant in general during these tournaments. These ref's(not all, but 80% of them should have their whistles taking away. To many 2 sided ref's. If they make a bad call against one team and their fans start to boo them, then they seem like they have to make up for it and call a quick foul on the other team, but maybe im the only who see's this.

yeah but if you think about it, the district champ game i believe it was, the refs called three fouls on cj in the first quarter or 2 in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd of that game and he sat the whole first half. the officiating does blow when you play at gibson county, so im taking it that the rest of the team has to fill his shoes. the officiating called against ns the first half and made it up by calling against dc the second half. so i think it's fair game. It should be a good game. Hope the officiating is better than tonights game and last game at Gibson! DC will have to play better defense and shoot better free throws! It killed them tonight. No that can't! Had my heart pumping a million beats a minute. Brought me back to the BTW game last year when it was down to the wire lol!! Free throws killed us, and i think the defense was pour for DC! I praise Big Ced! He played a good game and never gave up. I love how he shows emotion on the court, makes you feel like he really wants to play and he gives it his all!

Watch out for Dyer County! The fast and furious could make a run back to the boro. Good game last year when they played CPA and when they lost to Fulton! They won the District Championship with a 30-1 record. Young team could cost them tho with lack of experience tho.

Thank you, Very much!! I hope your input will stop the ignorancy of everyone down grading the players and Coach McCord at Dyer County! When one team has die hard fans the others can't stand it. Dyer County's fans are among the best , so I believe they have the right to be proud of their team and when people try down grading they should get angry and strive to make their team look better because apparently Dyer County is a better team, or they wouldn't have beat all the other teams and win the District Championship!! Again, I think you for the post!! I wish everyone could behave in a straight forward manner like adults as you did yourself instead of childish, he said she said, playground talk.

Very true, I know this isn't college ball, but if you watch college ball the refs let the touchy fouls go, and thats the way high school should be. I can them calling a push off(which they missed plenty of those calls tonight), but It would make the game more interesting if the players got to finish the play instead of having to stop the play at half court every other time down,but like I said its high school ball. The behind the back was a great play, but the best part about it was the finish when he scored and got the foul on the reverse lay up for a three point play. I thought the back hand from Rex, was uncalled for, but i bet number 3 from Westview will thank twice before running that trap through the whole game again. LOL!

I thought if the refs did a better job at calling fouls it would have been a different ball game. They called to many early fouls. If CJ wouldn't have got those two fouls early, he could have possibly stayed in and scored a few more, so could Lloyd. Anyways, I thought the officiating was horrible from the start.

I agree, knowing the choctaws they aren't going to want to go down again on Friday night. I believe the leaders are going to stand out tonight making big plays and getting a early jump. They should have all the "WANT TO" power in them tonight. I believe this game with a win will start the train of winning once again. Yes im sure Dyer County will have another good season. They need someone to step up and be a leader for this young talented team. They have alot of great players, but I would like to see someone step it up a notch and get everyone fired up. They look good running out and on the sideline. After every hit or stop McLin, Miller, and Kody King always get up fired up and jumping around and they need to get everyone doing that. Also, Im not 100% sure, but word on the street is that McLin has a partial torn ACL, not real sure on that, but something was partially torn or strain in some matter. GGGGOOOOOOOO Choctaws.

Yes Halls did impress people tonight. The spread with a no huddle at times did pretty good against Ripley, but #12 for Riply got called for hitting in the back three times, twice when Riply was in the endzone. So that was a drowning point for Ripley. Halls's quarterback #12 is very impressive, not only was he throwing the ball and running the ball on offense, he also played some good deffense. He had a good night. Haywood didn't impress me like I was expecting. Brighton played a good game. Lake county had a few good players who ran the ball well. DC I thought played good, but they didnt show all they had. They kept it simple. Eric McClin #8 was everywhere on the field and punishing the quarterback, even if ti was a fake he was still hitting the quarterback. Jeff Miller#32 aslo played good, he had some good runs and catches and helped out on the defensive end. #13 Peyton Lucas needs to get rid of the ball after the snap a little faster.

I agree. Counce is a good coach, but everyone makes him out to be unbeatable. Yes he does have good records and did real well at Dyersburg, but im not counting out DC yet. Renshaw has done a better job the past two years at DC. Honestly I dont believe if the teams were both undefeated playing each other that it would matter. When DC and DHS play each other its just who wants it the most. The rivalry is all about the team with the most heart. DHS players will have big shoes to fill with their legend coach coming back. Everyone is expecting the Trojans to do well because Counce is back. I, personally dont think it matters that much when it comes to the rivalry. DC showed a lot of heart last year during the game. It was intense and many people thought it was over until the fumble. Peyton Lucas will have a great year. Eric Mclin will also put up big numbers. Im looking for a lot big hits coming out of Jeff Miller. I hope it is a good game this year also. DHS shouldnt have had Parker at quarter back the whole game last year, but hey everything happens for a reason. DHS had a lot of talent that didn't get to shine and put the numbers up that they should have. Bobby Ellis is going to make it tuff for anyone this year. He has speed and dont let his size fool you, he will rock you world. GO CHOCTAWS!!!

With Dyersburg getting Counce back, will they beat the Choctaws this year? keep in mind they will playing in DC

I agree with you 73! DC's startin five is very quick and aggressive, but also with their bench having, Hurst, Cooper, Harsten, Pierce or Parr(which ever starts), and many more the Choctaws have a good advantage. They seem to never get out breath. ONe thing I have noticed about Justin Blake is that when there is a time out and everyone is sitting down drinking water, he stands up and justs cleans his face with a towel and gets right back out there. He is very conditioned, which has a great factor with him being able to keep rythm with his shot. DC will be hard to handle if they are shooting good. Hopefully the refs will not be as strict on fouls this game because DC is known for agressive ball stealing. Choctaws=Gold Ball=Home Bound

I agree with you "Icy" For the last two years I have sat in Dyer Co. gym's and watch a dog fight between DC and BTW. BTW's coach made some silly decisions towards the end of the game this year. Coach's must learn to keep their frustration to themselves and not show it. BTW's showed his frustration and it resulted in getting "Technical Foul". DC's coach McCord is very good with his team. Knowing him personally he is one the best coachs around. Very true, also dc forced twenty something turnovers on cpa which helped alot considering the refs, but anyways, in the jackson sun paper today, mccord quoted that he wasn't pleased with the number of turnovers his team forced, so id look for another physical game and for the choctaws to force more turnovers!!
