  1. Don't know about the other two teams you mentioned but the Cyclones are age appropriate just like Glock 22 mentioned. What tournaments are you entering with 13 year olds that you are running into older players? If it is an 18 U tournament then 18 years olds can play.
  2. Way to hang in there Bucs!
  3. Exactly, they would have been a solid AA team...it would almost be embarrassing not to make it to the state in A!
  4. The way things have come together for Boyd, the way I see it, it is theirs to lose!
  5. With so much LUCK on their side they may end up in the state tournament. what "LUCK" are you talking about? The luck of moving down from AA to A at the same time they have so many strong senior players! It's like the perfect storm! They would have been competitive in AA, but it would have been hard to make it to the state tournament. Not very lucky for the smaller schools who have been in A. Hey, good luck! I agree that Boyd is sittin' pretty right now! The change gives them the advantage, that's for sure. Good luck to Grace going into the districts!!!
  6. Our prayers are with Garrett and his family! Praying for a fast recovery!
  7. Again, I said it's good money for what's being asked. I didn't say it was alot. But any job you can have that pays you an average of $20.00 an hour is good money. I'm not sure how loaded you are, but where I'm from, there are lots of people who would gladly take that salary. In fact, there are plenty who would be lucky to get a $10.00/hr job right now. I guess we are not as lucky as you. Be good at what you do, that's it. Take pride in making the right call. Work as hard as the people trying to win a game. I agree 100%!
  8. This topic could go on forever! There are two sides and both have legitimate arguments. I don't care who you are, if an ump makes an OBVIOUSLY bad call, (and he will not change it, for whatever reason), then you are going to hear it from the fans! I'm not talking close calls here, umps usually will give back if they think they may have missed one. But, when a pitcher throws a ball that comes over the plate so low that a catcher brings up dirt when he catches it and the ump calls it "strike 3"! And, when someone throws a ball in from the outfield to the SS standing on the bag in a forced play and the runner is two steps from the base and he is called safe! Also, when your team is beating another team (that isn't use to getting beat, especially by your team) and that teams coach flips out and yells at the ump behind the plate, this ump said nothing and did nothing EXCEPT change his strike zone to where our pitcher is still looking for it, then it makes you wonder why! For the most part I believe that most umps are trying to call a game the best to their ability and are being fair. We have lost games to where we walked away knowing that we got beat or beat outselves, they are hard to take but you understand that is going to happen and maybe the players will benefit and work harder. But, when you leave a game frustrated by calls that took the game away from your team or in the least took away their momentum, then that is just plain difficult to overcome! Yeah, I know, that's baseball!!! It shouldn't be though!
  9. I stand by my prediction. And EHgreen, you need to get outside of Chattanooga. Our AA teams pale in comparion to AA teams in other parts of the state. Baseball in Chattanooga is down this year. Glock, what do you think is the reason for this? Pitching, coaching? Have you seen any really good pitchers in A, AA, AAA in chattanooga....in your opinion?
  10. OK, 1st game, 1st rainout! Hope this isn't a pattern!!!!!!!!!
  11. What's everyone's predictions on their 1st game tomorrow? Good luck to all the teams in and around Chattanooga! Hope everyone has a safe and fun season!!!!
  12. I always hate to hear about any kid getting injured. I've always heard that tearing a ligament is worse than breaking a bone. Hopefully he is an underclassman and has another year or 2 to play. Hope the best for him and your team!
  13. It is a little early to tell how well these teams will play but I find it hard to believe that East Hamiliton will come in 2nd place. I may be wrong but I SERIOUSLY doubt it! We will see, EH... good luck!!! By the way, why doesn't EH play Grace? They are close to each other and have yet to meet. Saw EH this weekend, all I can say is who picked out those green hats...they looked almost neon in the sun! I guess they will always standout! Well my number two pick may be a little optimistic in thinking, but after what a lot of these kids have been through with playing football and basketball in one of the toughest districts, I think they are ready to work harder in a sport where they have a chance to be competitive. However, I just learned yesterday we are going to be down another starting pitcher and big stick after a freak on-field accident Saturday night. Coach Garland is doing a great job with everything he is having to deal with. (i.e.. No field, no seniors, weather, players who have never played together before, etc.) I myself would love to see an EH vs Grace game. I know a lot of these kids, from both schools, played their rec league years at East Brainerd. Maybe Grace can get in our tournament so we can play against each other. As far as the green hats go... they kind of grow on you after about the fourth game. lol Good luck to you all as well and lets just hope neither team loses anymore players to injury. Nothing wrong w/ being optimistic! Hate to hear about the accident Sat. night, what happened. I know how hard it is to try and compete w/ a young team. Good luck to your players and hope to see ya soon on the field! Hopefully this last snow is our last and warmer days are ahead!
  14. We send our condolences and prayers to his family and friends.
  15. I am serious. If you think differently then "man up" and post yours. We will visit this again at the end of the season.
  16. I know you guys are trying to be cute and all but what does Nick Saban and Alabama have to do w/ Chattanooga baseball. Stay focused! BASEBALL!!!
  17. OK now, be serious!
  18. LV 12-1 14-2 & 11-1 Both Teams should even be better this year. GO JACKETS!!! With all that Grace went through last year we are just thankful to have a new season to start playing baseball. All the talking it up is good and fun but I'm sure we can all agree that baseball is the greatest game on earth and there is nothing like watching your team play! (Keeping it all in perspective, of course).
  19. I saw one pitcher from grace last year that threw pretty hard. looked like the ace and was pretty tall is he still there? david brainerd kids went to Ooltewah and East Hamilton Two of the better David Brainerd players went to Notre Dame (Sheldon Brogden and Zach Swartout) Hope both of those guys have a good season...they deserve it!
  20. Sorry, didn't know you couldn't talk about your teams on coacht if you were in A. Single A means the size of your school not the talent of some of the athletes that might attend. Sure there are usually not as many as there are in larger schools but that does not negate the fact that there are some top notch athletes in every class. Get over it, stay where you are and try to show some (class).
  21. If I recall correctly there were 2 outs when someone missed a routine fly ball in the outfield. If Grace can tighten up their defense behind Rose, which I think they will...they are more experienced, then they have a chance. They were very young last year....they had 3 freshmen routinely playing the infield. As far as their offense, not sure, but they do have Rose, Ruebush, Reagan, Jensen, Long and a couple others who can hit well. Grace is looking forward to a good year and can't wait to get started!
  22. As a matter of fact Rose did play fall and summer ball. There are others who played during the summer. As a whole team I am saying there is improvement because of how so many of the players actually have been working on their own time in the off season to improve. Grace hasn't had that before. At least not as many as this year. You don't have to play a game to see that players have improved, at least that is my opinion of course!
  23. Do I think that Grace can beat LV or Marion Co. this year? Well, both teams are hard to beat especially on their fields! Grace has improved and are excited about getting their coach back, so who knows. All I know is that I am ready for warmer weather and for baseball season to start! Looks like we will need to invest in a good heater!!! Good luck to all the teams!
