  1. In the first round, SBEC has already won @ FA. TRA has already won @ FACS. Harding should roll over RCA and I have no idea about BB @ JCS. Lausanne shouldn't have any problems with whoever wins that one at home since they have handily beaten both already this year. I don't see ECS having any trouble with the winner of FA/SBEC and even though SG has a recent 1 point win over both FACS/TRA, I think they will make the necessary adjustments as they seem well coached. Harding/USJ seems like the best match-up in the quarter finals and like I said, I won't be surprised at any outcome. USJ was a CLEAR 2 seed as they had two shots @ SG and didn't have an answer. Harding could just as well have been the 1 seed and probably a better team late than the other two. Guess that's why they play the game and FYI, if history proves itself, USJ gets NO favors at home. Good luck to you guys.
  2. Agreed. That would have been a better way yet not sure who and how things like that get changed. With the parity in the West, I don't think seeding makes as much of a difference from an opponent standpoint as it does from a home-court point of view. Granted losing a 3-way coin toss adds a first round game for the 3 seed, yet I for one would rather play than be off a week. With a 2-way tie for first, I don't really have a problem with the coin toss since the result will be both still have a bye and their first game @ home, but when the toss decides who has to hit the road and who doesn't, it seems there should be something else in place to decide. Maybe take all the 2nd round games (8 teams) to the Region tournament site instead of 4. It would not have mattered much this year in Harding's case since the tourney is @ USJ anyway, yet it would eliminate disadvantages in the future or had the toss fell differently this year. Good luck to all teams from here on out. Watch out for TRA. They have already been to FACS and won as well as a 1 point loss @ SG. Anything could happen from this point on.
  3. Who knows. I don't know much about Harding yet they are obviously a very good team. Should be a great game but I won't be surprised @ any outcome that happens. Good luck to both teams.
  4. Who knows in the West. This will come down to who gets hot at the right time. I would still give Lausanne as the favorite as they can get hot quick, followed closely by St. George as they can be streaky as well. ECS is tough to match up with and Harding has won some big games yet I don't know much about them. Seem to play a lot of players. USJ could get a tough second round draw as the 2 seed in D2-2 with the 1-2-3 seeds in D2-1 looking like it's gonna come down to a coin toss. In the E/M I guess FRA is the favorite with EH and USN following close behind yet I don't know much about that side. I assume the tie-breaker is District record, Head-to-Head and then a coin toss? There is not another tie-breaker in place is there?
  5. I'm thinking that might not be the reason.
  6. It looks like now that a few things are decided in the West yet plenty more will not be determined until the end of this week. _______________________________ St. George has wrapped up the No. 1 seed in one district and I think USJ has wrapped up the No. 2. Both still have Rossville Christian yet to play and I don't think any surprises will effect the outcome as SG wins the head to head with USJ for the 1 and USJ would win the head to head with FA for the 2 if FA were to win out. Fayette Academy controls their own fate @ 5-3 with TRA and JCS (4-5) left to play. Beat JCS and they are the No. 3. Lose them both and I think the 3 spot comes down to a coin toss with JCS since they would have split during the year. TRA (2-7) will finish as the No. 5 seed regardless of the outcome of any remaining games and are still probably the most likely team to ruin someone's season. RC will be the No. 6. _______________________________ In the other District, Harding's win over Lausanne Friday night has left a 3-way tie for first as far as I can tell between ECS, Lausanne and Harding. All 3 teams have split the regular season with each of the other two. Lausanne's lone game remaining is against Bishop Byrne, Harding has FACS and Catholic, and ECS has FACS and Bishop Byrne. FACS has a lock on the No. 4 seed as they would win the head to head with BB should they lose both (assuming BB beat Catholic last game, couldn't find a score). An FACS win over either Harding or ECS would drop the loser into the No. 3 spot and the other two would flip a coin for the 1. FACS loses both and I guess there's a three way coin toss since all have split. BB will be the No. 5 as far as I can tell and SBEC and Catholic would play the play-in game. Someone who knows more about this can probably tell me if all of this is right or not. I don't think there is another tie-breaker after head-head before going to a coin toss? *After looking at this a little further, FACS should be a lock @ 4 and it should not have to come down to a coin toss with BB. BB has Lausanne and ECS left to play and has already lost to both by big margins. If they were to pull off an upset...throw everything I said above out the window.
  7. You are probably right. Those two compliment each other very well. I think most opposing defenses target Bran first then wake up the next morning to see the box score and how the other kid wore 'em out. I know it happened to us twice! Both great players and Mulvihill is the better scorer like you said. I just think that maybe Bran is the better all around. Like I said, BOTH are really good and basically overlooked which makes em even more dangerous. I'd like to have em both! Running both those two off of screens from Hill (this is a very big screen) in the middle is really effective. Stop that and they both can pull up from just about anywhere.
  8. I'm a little disappointed Jack. You vented on these boards for 4 years about the USJ basketball program and this is the conclusion you come up with? I mean I'm not the sharpest tack in the box but it takes about 5 minutes of research on these boards to figure out who's who and you obviously didn't have 5 minutes to spare. Now you're back taking pot shots at Butch so I guess I really owe him an apology for anything I might have said to steer you in that direction. You are right about one thing, this is so ephemeral (although I had to look the word up and your spelling didn't make it any easier). As you well know, there is nothing like the pride of watching your own kid play sports but become a fine young man as well. I really didn't see the point in you taking the opportunity to get involved. I took offense to the comment about JR not having anybody else on his team because one of those nobody's is mine and a good friend of your kid's as well. Guess I'm not as thick skinned as some.
  9. To answer your first question, that would be a resounding "yes". Maybe I should have quoted the specific statement that you made in an earlier negative post in which YOU, my friend, continued your thread-to-thread post bashing of anyone that you are not familiar with. I thought I made it pretty clear in a later post but that obviously went way over your head which is not surprising. Now, in your typical "look at cute me calling people out" fashion, you have jumped to another conclusion that only reinforces MY original statement. Any body with any sense and that spends as much time as you on these boards should have figured out by now how to search a Username and read all posts. Had you taken the time to do this prior to sticking an Ex-Lax under you tongue and letting nature take it's course, you would have probably read enough over the last 4 years to understand that I'm not Mr. Glover. That being said, and as a proud father, one of those "Nobodys" you spouted off about in your original post is my reason for getting out of bed every day and to have someone like yourself take a pot shot at them in an attempt to demean Glover himself led me to my opinion of you...which remains as is. You spend the majority of your time stalking the Ezell bunch so there is obviously some traumatic event in your life related to that. My guess is the EH Pep Band already had symbol player and you had to transfer your kid somewhere else. Ezell-Harding ripped our heart out last year and if anyone should be EH hater it should be me but I can tell you this...I have the utmost respect for the Gman cause he brings a positive aspect to these boards despite your repeated attempts to hijack every thread shows up in. As for "shooting" everybody down, the only comment I made that could be taken as negative was that I did not think the Payne kid belonged in this discussion and I stand by that. AAU is AAU and stats are stats, you yourself agreed with that is so many words. That's MY opinion and my right to have it. I didn't mean to degrade the kid but the times I've seen him play, he was off and spent the majority of his time fussing at his teammates for missing shots and not getting him the ball. The latter comment about the USN kids was directed at you and your on-going attempt to "get some love" 6 players deep on every team from that region. Yes, this is an exaggeration but I think you get the gist. Had you left out your "Nobody" comment I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I'm all for sharing the love and giving all these kids the recognition they deserve I just don't see the point in bashing a group that's not involved in these discussion in an attempt to downgrade one of them. As for not bringing anyone else to the table, how's this. St. Georges gets absolutely no hype on these boards (or anywhere else from what I can tell). Alex Bran is as good as they come and if you gave me the first draft pick for a All West Region Allstar team, that would be my first guard chosen without a second thought. I should know, they destroyed USJ last night and we don't now or will have an answer for him. Write it down and get back with me after the tournaments. I've got a feeling everyone will see what I'm talking about.
  10. Humorous note: Not knowing much about the FRA kids, when people were talking about Marberry I was picturing Bell. Saw him in the State tournament last year and remembered him being the one that stood out. Like I said, I don't know much about the E/M cause I am from the West so I don't comment much about them. Unlike some other displaced people on here. Bell's a good player. Seems to play much larger than what he's listed.
  11. As opposed to how a 17-5 team that lost to FRA by 30+ now has 3 Mr. Basketball candidates? No knock on any of them, Other than Hodge, I have not seen any of them play, which is why I don't comment, cause I don't comment on things I don't know anything about, because doing so will not make anyone think I know what I'm talking about. Get the picture?
  12. Interesting note: Tipton Rosemark went to FACS last night and won by 7 from what I read. This has no bearing on district standings but is interesting from the stand point that it's probably a preview of your #4-Dist 1 vs. #5 Dist 2 match-up to be played @ FACS if things hold true to form. TRA seems to be on a roll right now and are playing with a "nothing to lose" attitude. Went to USJ this week and gave them all they wanted. They've got some players and could be an issue for someone down the road.
  13. This kid is going to be something else. He should definitely be in the discussion and will leave High School with this award at least once if not more. The sky is the limit for this kid. Don't put too much emphasis on the stats on the web site you mentioned though. Not all teams submit and it skews it a little at a glance. Regardless of what BigENS says, Glover and his "nobody's" around him will grab several of these spots once and if they ever decide to submit. On another note, no one has mentioned the Moffat kid from Fayette Academy. He's had a really great career and should at least get some recognition. He's a steady player and a good kid from what I've heard.
  14. At least you are consistently an idiot regardless of which thread you grace.....
  15. I can respect this as well. Kasper is doing well @ Bucknell and being a senior last year with Glover having one more year, I would not have been as heart broken had he won the award. He truly had a great season and one would have to think that the decision came down to stats...at least that's what it looks like. I am obviously biased towards Glover because I get to watch him on a weekly basis, yet given the obstacles he has had this year, his numbers are impressive beyond belief. Not only dealing with opposing defenses, yet with stardom comes bias, which has been the case this year. He is getting beat up on a regular basis and can't move without getting a charge called yet still averaging over 30 a game. Like I said, have not seen the Nash kid play yet am looking forward to it. What year is he, I assume he is young since he seemed to appear out of nowhere.
  16. I can respect that, I just think he throws up way too many shots and seems to be more in it for those stats you just mentioned than he is from a team stand point. He has more than likely been the reason for them not going any farther than they have over the last couple of years than the reason they went as far as they did. I've only seen him play 4 times so I guess I shouldn't pass judgement but he was off all 4 times yet continued to throw stuff up. I think Wooten is the best player on that team. Once again, my opinion which is what these boards are for.
  17. I'm pretty sure the decisions are made on these prior to state/substate tournament play. Kasper from ECS had a great year last season but the show he put on during the state tournament run is what everybody always hears and speaks of. Based on the regular season last year, IMO, Glover deserved this award hands down and should this year as well. But, as seen during the Football vote, stranger things have happened. Being from the West, never heard of the Nash kid until a couple of weeks ago and anyone that has actually seen the Payne kid from Lausanne play (and not just the box scores) probably knows he doesn't belong in this discussion. Just my opinion, not trying to offend anyone.
  18. I think FACS is a firm No. 4 out of this district. This should come down to ECS, LC and Harding. Just my opinion.
  19. No dog in this race but I would say a 12 point win @ home was more on the side of "interesting" than pure domination?
  20. What I could find was the following: West District 1: Lausanne 6-0 (beat everybody once, FACS and ECS on the road) Harding 5-1 (Lost to Lausanne @ Lausanne, beat ECS and FACS on the road) ECS 4-2 (Beat FACS on the road, lost both @ home) FACS 3-3 (Lost all 3 @ home) Bishop Byrne 2-4 (only beat SBEC and Catholic) SBEC 1-5 (only beat Catholic) Catholic 0-6 (not really in any game so far) West District 2: St. George 4-1 (Lost to FA on the road) USJ 4-1 (Lost to SG on the road) Fayette Academy 4-1 (lost to USJ on the road) JCS 2-3 (only beat TRA and RC, lost to USJ/SG @ home) Tipton Rosemark 1-4 (only beat RC) Rossville Christian 0-5 (lost all by 20+) East/Middle: (This is based on what I found on multiple sites, but don't know if it's accurate?) Ezell-Harding 7-1 FRA 6-0 KWebb 5-1 USN 5-1 Mount Juliet Christian 4-2 DCA 3-4 Webb School 3-5 St. Andrew's 2-5 Davidson 2-3 Riverside Christian 1-3 Zion Christian 1-6 King's Academy 0-5 Maybe someone can fix the E/M standings I listed above? Not a lot of info down our way.
  21. That's all I show in the west. We are split in to 2 districts. As far as I can tell Lausanne would not meet either USJ nor St. George until Region tournament. I don't show them playing during regular season are not in the same district. I know USJ doesn't play them.
  22. Whatever happened to Tay Kennedy? He's not on the team anymore is he?
  23. West: Rossville @ USJ Tipton Rosemark @ Fayette Academy Bishop Byrne @ Lausanne ECS @ FACS Memphis Catholic @ Harding E/M (I don't guarantee accuracy on this side): St. Andrews @ Ezell Riverside Christian @ USN Davidson @ Zion Christian Feel free to fix what I posted or add to it
