  1. But would it be crazy not to? I mean if a coach cannot give instruction, they could have players take bad swing after bad swing and not be able to correct them. They can depend on upper classmen players to correct, but all players, even players with good swings, can't always notice holes in other swings.
  2. *Can an incoming freshman play on the high school summer baseball team? For example, could a 2012-2013 high school freshman play on the high school summer team during the summer of 2012, the summer before he becomes a freshman? *Do most teams take advantage of the open facility (January 1st) or are there some coaches who do not allow their players to swing the bats until Feb. because they cannot instruct them until then?

    All State

How does one go about putting a player on the All State (and other postseason consideration) radar, if the player plays in a small town/community/county? Will posting statistics here help? Thank you.
  4. Again, I disagree with these rules, but I do understand them. It's amazing at how many people do not understand the TSSAA rules. My biggest complaint is that one month is not enough time to get a team properly ready for opening day. It may be if you have a team that's been well coached for several years. A team like that may be fine, but a rebuilding program needs much more time. Freshman and sophomores that come from poor middle school programs (and poor Little League programs) need much more than a month to work on their swing technique, defensive fundamentals, and knowledge, in preparation for a season.
  5. I think the TSSAA should send people around to check on its programs. As I stated, they are now only depending on the honesty of schools and athletic directors, and now, that is a lot of depend on.
  6. Yes, pitchers and position players are allowed to throw right now. Throwing is under the definition of conditioning. I agree that it sends the wrong message to the players to break the TSSAA rules. Now, I do not agree with them when it comes to baseball and I have no problem saying that, but I feel strongly about abiding by them.

    TSSAA Rules

We know the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA-www.tssaa.org) has an unbelievable list of rules, but why have the rules if they are never going to be followed up on. Unless a school reports self violations, a team can almost do whatever it wants. Many baseball programs in the state are going full blast in October and November. This gives them an obvious advantage over a team that does it right, by the rules.
  8. Is Coach Baxter a nice guy? Some would say he is aloof, but he may just be quiet. I am curious as to how he treats his players and peers. I wonder if he is a good man. He has had a lot of success.
  9. What makes him and his baseball program so good? How have they been able to dominate all of these years?
  10. Happy Valley Warriors 8 Sullivan North Raiders 6 Bowling 5 2/3 no hit innings out of the pen.
  11. HV has a lot of talent, but it remains to be seen if they will come together as a team.
  12. Johnson County has some talent, and they do play hard! It should be a good baseball game.
  13. Daniel Boone beat Unaka 10-0. Hampton dropped out, and most of the games have been rained out.
  14. The Warriors do not seem to be getting a lot of preseason respect.
  15. What is going on with the baseball program at Happy Valley High School in Carter County? They have a lot of talent coming back.
