  1. So much will depend on draw! Exciting times! Page and greenbrier are prolly close for 2.
  2. 1. Pigeon until someone knocks em off. 2. Page 3. Greenbrier 4. Notre dame 5. Greeneville 6. Hixon What are each teams records? Injuries? Head to head?
  3. Yeah shared bobcat's post it was hamblin that had them 9 about a week ago. I shared the wrong one.
  4. Should we at least have Greeneville at #8 since they qualified today from Region 1?
  5. I don't think Greeneville has had a completely full team at any events up until near the end of the season. Will be interesting to see their matchup against Hixon if both teams advance. Peaking at the right time is important. But, I wouldn't count any match against them earlier in the year since at least 7 guys in their lineup have moved (maybe more). Will be a fun weekend. Good luck and safe travels to all.
  6. Trackwrestling has Region 1 second defeating region 5 by a score if 55-54. Is that a mistake? It has Region 1 as second place team. Someone help.
  7. I'm not arguing who's better and who's not. That won't be determined until 2015. I'm just saying these four programs are there! So would you rather have a team championship at individuals or a team championship at duals? PF and Greeneville appear to be pounding the mat starting at a very young age. Hixon and Alcoa are doing things right somewhere as well. It should be fun to watch these teams make A/AA better. But even with that said, they don't stack up on the scale of other divisions and that should be the ultimate goal! Being the best or being compared to the best!
  8. So I'm guessing no one knows if Greeneville has a youth program? Don't I recall seeing two buses at the pre-season takedown tournament from Greeneville at pigeon forge in order to bring both hs and ms kids? I guess they will take a back seat to the "Big 3" in A/AA. Or have they not finished higher than Alcoa and Hixon the last two years. How many did they lose?
  9. Well I think the situation at 220 is intriguing! Sammy is obviously a great wrestler. But transfers always leave blemishes no matter what. It's a question of ethics as to whether it is legit or not! I truly hope him the best as well as every other kid going to state! I hope he is here to stay in tn. since he came back. Once tssaa approved him, he had the paperwork to wrestle. So must be legit and I say congrats. The only question I have is how many coaches Alcoa had listed as approved by tssaa. Coaches have to be approved by the schools and tssaa to be legit. I saw 7-8 in their corner during the day. Are they all approved, I don't know. Great tourney yesterday and good luck at state!
  10. How many kids did East lose? How many kids did Greeneville lose? They are more than likely the two to beat. What are the predictions here weight by weight if anyone dares?
  11. I keep forgetting that. Thanks. I will not know many of those kids from the new Region, lol. We may have to name the thread Region 1 A and Region 1 AA to remind dummies like me.
  12. What about Boatman from Greeneville at 126/132, Vance at 126/132 against Vaughn and Williams. Also, Irvin should be back and healthy probably at or around 152. He qualified as a Fresh but has had two seasons of injury? Carlson 152/160 qualified as a So. but missed last year. Any chances for these guys?
  13. I think all in all that this was tremendously better than last year. Great job! I have a few suggestions. Allow the same number of coaches for jr and ms events. Some teams have different coaches for those age groups. We were not able to get all our coaches in while another team was. It needs to be equal for all. They used all their passes earlier and then got more. We had one coach sitting in the stands knowing that they were given extra passes. I saw it. Also, the viewing of the back mats was very difficult. The flow of the tournament was awesome until finals. While the mats were closed, we waited a very long time for finals knowing we had a long drive home. I ended up pulling in at home at 3:30 a.m. without stopping to eat, but instead just gas and go. While 20 matches were finished with only 3 mats running. I would love to see the awards of 1 division done all at one time with all the kids. The hospitality was good but if your gonna make a tournament last until 9:30, please have some food after 3:30. I don't eat a lot and I don't abuse hospitality, but the regionals and states hospitality was very poorly run for that type event. The food was good, just out way to early. You have to remember that the coaches and the kids make this event the success is was and without us, you have no tournament. I have no problem paying for parking. But when you drive 3 hrs +, pay to park, paying for food items (if they don't run out) shouldn't happen, especially when your standing around 2 hrs to wait on a finals match. Again, these are just some suggestions, but it was much much better than last year.
  14. Last years state tournament was a little messy. The venue change will be great. But, I saw lots of great wrestling and love seeing these young kids wrestling weeks past their regular season. I look forward to going again this year.
  15. I am going to have to throw Randy Shelton (Greeneville) in the CoY award opinions. Randy took a team that qualified only 4 individuals for the state tournament and won the A-AA state duals. This is Greeneville's only state championship in many years and many appearances. Not only did they win, but in doing so, they upset East Ridge who took fourth, Hixon who took 3rd, and Pigeon Forge who had been ranked as the top A-AA team all year. It may not have been a perfect season, but he developed his mediocre kids into wrestlers capable of bringing home a state title. Being from Region 1, I am a little biased, I know. At midseason and even the start or Regionals, I'm not sure anyone projected Greeneville as a guarantee to be there, let alone win. They did so in close fashion as they squeaked out 4 very close matches with score margins of 10 pt or less in each win including Regions. Congrats and I wish him many more chance
