  1. Congrats to Willie and Bolivar. Speaking of the game Bolivar looked good and Tisdale is awesome. In the earlier game Northside didn't have much work to do to take care of another Middle TN Team. Northside starters barely played in second half.
  2. When and where will this game be played????????
  3. Very good game last night. USJ shows up with 7 total players against a very long bench of McNairy. Hats off to the USJ players for a very good effort. McNairy had a couple of point guards that were used very effectively on the outside. Close game down to the wire. The refs were getting into the swing of things it appears by the very weak foul calls going both ways last night. Congrats to both teams for a good season opener.
  4. TCA's J. Washington is a great all round althelete. Clay Lineberry is a new player from Mich. He has very high Basketball IQ. He just will need to have other players seeing the floor because he makes things happen. He will be a threat for sure. Saw him several times in Nashville this fall and he is good player.
  5. Any report from the teams/games that were played. How did Westview look. What player(s) stood out.
  6. HEY HOOPSHOOT Were you really at the Rivals Future 150 Camp this past weekend? I was there on Saturday. John Ross Glover is the kid from USJ. If I recall correct he had several assist, numerous rebounds, 2-3 putbacks and 20 points per game in the first 3 games. and 12 or 14 in the Top 20 ALLSTAR GAME playing with with K.C. Ross Miller, Macafee Kendall Anthony, Tarius Johnson, and Cameron Golden etc. So how does this add up. Each player only plays 10 minutes of a running Clock per game. He averaged 2 pts per minute against some pretty good players. There were only 5-class of 2012 selected to the top 20. 10 class of 2010 and 5 2011. I am wonder what you thought about Kendall Anthony's or K.C. Ross Miller's preformance. I thought they were awesome as well as John Ross, Tarius Johnson, and Cameron Golden. Note: K.C. Ross Miller is also a class act, very polite young man with a GPA of about 3.65 at his school in Houston, TX.
  7. We are looking for a 14U ASA team to tryout and play fall ball with. We are from West TN but willing to travel. Could anyone give me contact information?
  8. Hey Mojo and Asitis I have been following a couple of kids from USJ for about 2 years and can witness to players being afraid of playing to their strenghts for fear of being benched. I have watched the Glover kid since he played with the AAU in Memphis because my team played them 4 times last year and he was a different player then and my partners in Nashville say he is having a great circuit ball summer this year. I believe that the new point guard Hall is going to make a difference or at least he did when I saw him against JCM. I think the 2 position man miller cannot be stopped if he gets hot on the outside. THere is a kid from Middleton that is there now that should make an impact. I say all this about the talent to say that I agree with you guys about the coaching approach. USJ has about 4 basketball players on the team and when you expect football players to pass the basketball using the Flex offense or seeing the potential of fast break OR you have Kids that are afraid of handling the ball for fear of making a bad pass or missed shot then you will turn the ball over. I really do not believe unless something in coaching changes that DII will be much different for USJ W/L record. Moving to my area (Memphis) of the state is where most of you competition will be. and DII in West region of DII is strong. Much like the Haywoods and Covingtons of AA. I hope that things will change for you guy and the kids but doesn't sound hopefull.
  9. Crying mommies and daddies have led to the USFA TN to spilt the 12U state championship 2 weeks before the state championship tournament. It appears to me they have caved into someones $$$$ influences because that mommy and dadda child is not good enough to play B level ball but they will not go play Rec ball. So the USFA instead of having a backbone spilts the division. Don't they remember last year at the World Serious where Quicksilver playing in the 12 U B and won everything and then played the next week and played in the A level and won everything. USFA's criteria for what makes a B verse A level team needs to be outlined early on. Maybe USFA TN could take some looks at NSA or ASA. If a team decides to play at A or B level then that teams is prepared to get their back-side kicked to the curb. If my team does not win then don't look at changing the neighborhood. Move to the Projects or run with the dogs you can run with. So I say to the USFA TN and the crying complianing mommies and daddies who's child feelings are hurt when they are crawling out of the curb, to grow up and teach your child that in this world things are not fair and they are not suppose to be. Upward Bound League teaches everyone wins. Go There and turn the scoreboard off and save yourself a lot of money and get a trophy every weekend. That's all I got to say about that!!
  10. Yes Livingtons Academy was pretty deep and a very good team. They also were coached very well. Just wondering why they would come to such a camp with so little competition for them. I guess they just didn't know. Scotts Hill is a very poorly coached team. they were throwing elbows against all teams and the coach appeared to encourage this kind of play. Very low class of ball playing. Jackson's USJ and TCA has very little talent and were completely blown out most games. Maybe all their players are practicing football or tennis or cheerleading---who knows. I saw only two refs that I would say had seen a basketball game. One of the refs wore flip flops. How ridiculous?? Over-all just a C grade Camp.
  11. Does anyone have any details on this tournament as to location of the events, teams entered, etc.
  12. Are the Celtics ever going to update their website. It is the same it was last year and very out of date.
  13. Is this a joke. Who names these players and who deposits the money from tickets sales. This is ridiculous.
  14. I did not mean to start a war. Just asking how the Tournament look, and who looked good. I have learned a lot of some of the behind the sence's, I think . I do know Mr. Robinson and word is he is very connected and knows the game and who's who. I believe I would listen to him. Anyone willing to put their real name out their shows a lot if, in fact Mrob is Mr. Robinson, that I have know of for many years. Again if anyone else was there at the tournament I would appreciate any insight on local (Nashville) teams and players primarily. Only thing individuallly from the Local teams i've heard is the young Celtics have a lot of potential. Big Dave Howard Austin Blackwell and this new kid John distinguished themselves.
  15. Mrob thanks for the info please keep posting about the Celtics. Do you know when they will post the Riverdale classic brackets for this weekend. Also I saw on the Select Web site announcing their tryouts and he was charging $5 registration fee to tryout. That guy does not miss a trick. He also likes himself on video a Lot!
  16. Where can I find information on the Riverdale Classic Tournament. Who's playing in it ETC.
  17. Well--I'm still wondering who is on the team. Can anyone confirm is the big guy named "David" who played with the travelers playing with the Celts. The celtics web page has not been updated. anyone seen a 2009 schedule? Are they playing at the Boro in April 4?
  18. Just wonder who is really playing for them this year. Is Prather back with the 17's. I heard they were putting together a pretty strong 15U team. Any word out there>
  19. Afraid to shoot. Ball Control-Ball Control-Ball Control!!!!!! Again lack of ball control led to 20+ pts for Covington. I am not saying that USJ could have won but Ball Control and fear of shooting once again makes for a boring game. A team cannot depend on 2 players to score 60-70% of USJ scoring.
  20. I mostly agree with "brevo5" with My Top 5 Freshmen are John Ross Glover (USJ), Fred Yarbrough (DC), John Hudson (DC), Raphael Tyler (LC), and Cedarious Taylor (DC). But if you want to include Memphis players in this I would agree with previous post that Tay Tay Newby is a great player. Saw him in AAU and no one could stop him. Hear he needs a lot of attention regarding attitude but a great player.
  21. Pretty much the same old story over the last several years. I think they do have some talent to work with in DII. Does anyone know if the freshman Glover and Miller playing are Basketball in the off season and with what teams.

    Just Pitchers

Lauren Riddle is a great pitcher as is Anna Renfoe. Both are very grounded in life. I have watch both of these up and coming pitchers in middle school (for Travel Ball purposes) and both of these young ladies are potentially D1 pitchers. Anna is in 9th grade at TCA now and Lauren is in the 8th grade at USJ. Last year TCA middle school won over 20 games and lost 3 with Anna's pitching. This year Coach Dunn and the USJ lady Bruin Middle school softball won 25 and lost 1 game led by Lauren Riddle. Both teams won the Regional Championship played at the Sportsplex. I also agree to the comment about pitcher/catcher relationship being important.
  23. Sounds like you may be new to Travel Softball. I honor your committment to the Lord and your intent regarding the faith but the whole travel ball culture is about just that -travel ball- staying in crowded hotels--running down the halls--driving home late night Sunday (if you go deep into the tournament)--eating at the never ending TGIF's--giving your child or team the opprotunity to "see" play at the next level. I would not trade the experience I have had over the last several years "traveling with travel ball" for much of anything. I will say playing local "Sportsplex" is a good thing because Rickey Yates and Ron Barry have a great facility but you will tend to meet the same competition week after week. Going to the state and Panama City for the last several years has given me a new appreciation for talented softball players and talented softball coaches. You can be a man of God and play softball from March to October. I know that some parents can not afford this committment so just play the Park and Rec League or if your child is really good enough they can get on a fully sponsor teams which will cut the cost some.
  24. Will Jackson Christian and University Schools be competitive in DII. Who will be the talent for these schools as they enter this DII.
