  1. Head to head, Team vs Team... Bo Burton was the better player at QB in that game...but, as an individual, no comparison. Curt Phillips is like Tim Tebow, no contest, he was a great QB for the Rebels. When we meet this season, who do you think the best player will be on the field? I would say #1 Chris Sensabaugh, #2 Derrick Steele ( I would use the "no contest" wording as well) Roll Tribe Roll I'm a fan of Steele like yourself, but I'd have to go with a tie at the #1 spot with Chris and our own Ty Garvin. We'll see when Chris hits the hole and Gavin is standing in the way. I think you will agree with us after that.
  2. Really? His arm is stronger than Bo's and Jamie's? He's doing good but I would not agree with this now, come on! Don't know if you went to any of the 7 on 7 passing camps or not but i seen him at the DB camp and i was very impressed. He has always had a big arm but, now he has he zip on the ball also. I think if you go to scrimmage this Friday you will agree. As long as they give him a little protection so he can get some confidence going, the sky is the limit. I am very excited about our offense. Everybody is going to key on Sensabaugh, so somebody else will have to step up. I look for a big year from from Steele but i think the big surprise this year will be Seabolt. This young man has breakaway speed and good hands.
  3. I can't wait until Friday. I don't know if i'll be able to sleep Thursday night, and it's just a scrimage. Anyone know anything about Knox. Halls this year? Can't wait to see all the kids coming back from last year. If they got bigger, faster smarter(coaches to). What about offensive formations. I formation, spread, shotgun or all of the above. I think we have the ability to run or throw this year. With all the experience the players got in the 7 on 7 games we look to have extreme potential in the passing game. Everyone is going to key on Sensabaugh so the passing offense should have many opportunities to shine. Roop looks to have the best arm we have seen since Duran Ferguson. Come on coaches, use your strengths.
  4. Sorry, it was the post below comp. but, you agreed completely.
  5. Go back and find one single post of mine where I made an excuse as to why we lost a game. Volman, how many did the refs take from us? I'm sure you watched the film. The clip on Taylors TD with 30 seconds left is the most stark. Not even the most diehard Greeneville fan can deny that one. That one, plus I felt like Taylor scored on 3rd down in OT #2. The Greeneville TD in OT #1 was o...by VolmanScott Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:23 pm Ok. How about four excuses? Views: 24572
  6. Will Jordan Cassell be one of the starting runningbacks for South? I hope so! Good kid. Very fast. Hope he gets a chance this year.
  7. I have not seen a practice yet, but i know one thing. Never underestimate the Indians! Year in and year out we are very competitive. And now with the new alignment, this will be true again. Regardless if we lose a game or two early on, we should cruise through the rest of the regular season if everyone stays healthy. Now, having said that, the playoffs might just bite us again. I don't know for sure who we might play against early on the playoffs, but playing a weaker schedule(sorry to the local schools-yes you to South) this is going to hurt come playoff time. The speed, size and athletic difference between our local schools and the schools we normally would play are very different. Maybe playing down in the regular season will give us some rest and we will be rested. But, another way to look at it is, we may not have the fluidity of our offense if this occurs. I'm not worried about the defense because of Watson. But the offense and Clark will again be the tell all story. Roll Tribe.............
  8. Running style is what i"m talking about. Any idiot can see CS is not as big as Jamal, but he has the frame to develop it if he gets as big as his dad. This could spell trouble for opposing defenses. If he is recruited as a running back he could turn into another Jamal. Remember he is just a junior this coming season.
  9. How did South do in their 7 on 7 ?
  10. DB won the 7 on 7 not a school from Va.
  11. Oh, here we go again this year. Sorry to bring you the bad news of our fortune and your misfortune, but the reality is, if a football player moves to this area do you honestly think he will want to go to a school with a much less athletic program. Get real grandpa "cracker". You do the math. South vs. D.B. If he was a great football player who was being recruited, why in the world would he come to East Tennessee? But if he did, why would he go to a school like South? A young black man going to a school with a rebel flag and a Confederate General on their flag. Get real. If he was my son, that would be the one game on the schedule i would circle. Who even knows if the kid is any good or is just a large kid? Get back in the rocking chair and take a nap!
  12. You're correct. Chris does'nt need to be in on special teams because he would hurt someone or worse even hurt himself. I have said since he was in middle school that he should play mostly on defense. He is a fullback type runner on offense but is a true middle linebacker on defense. He has been great on offense but i don't believe his future is to carry the rock. But, you never know, he looks a lot like Jamal Lewis, he could develop into a great runningback. I believe to do this he will have to improve his speed and have some workouts with a very good runningback coach who can teach him to run around people sometime instead of trying to bull everyone over. I've watched this young man since his days at the boy's club, and man what a talent. People from South always feel like they have the best players. Hey guys, if you had this kid you would have forgotten about all the others.
  13. 8 Well, it's evident the kid is smart if he left Colonial Heights. Unless i was stranded on the side of I-81 i would'nt want to be their either.
  14. They could practice until their faces are as blue as those girly blue uniforms and they won't have an answer for a Watson DB defense.
  15. It seems like we have gotten away from the heavy weight training that was present in the late 80's and 90's. I think we are getting our players conditioned but i've noticed many of the big dogs on other teams are not only conditioned but are very big and strong. Just look at Farragut, their players are huge. Big arms, legs and can fly. We need to blend some of the old coach Wilson stuff back into the game plan as well as open it up some. The 7 on 7 was cool to see. It was like watching the Duran Ferguson show again wth all the passes, and Roop can fling the ball. Let's take advantage of our strengths and not blow it lasdt year. Come on coaches, you better not keep the ball from Steele, our best receiver, like you did the best last year. Give me a break! Roll Tribe.................
  16. Powell Valley came and had the same school colors. I dont think we could stomach much more of those "fairy blue" colors. I think they had a tractor pull that weekend, i'm sure that takes priority over football at South. Hog calling, tractor pulls and cousin dating, huh what a life. Roll Tribe Roll....................
  17. I guess they did'nt want to add to the streak of loses, especially at J Fred. They are just prolonging the pain. Roll Tribe Roll...................
  18. I watched two of the 7 on 7 games for DB and i was impressed by our athleticism. I'm not sure who some of the players were but, Seabolt was very impressive. Roop has a great looking arm and Chris will be Chris. However, where has that speed from Derrick been hiding. Wow, his stock has went up big time. He could be a very dangerous slashing type receiver this year. We all know about the defense but how about a little offense.
  19. Hey guys, don't we have any fans who want to talk football? This is rediculous! It's a shame i have to go on the South posts just to talk it up. If anyone knows anything about the team this year and what we can expect or changes in the works, lets hear it. This is tippical DB fans for you, come on and lets support our team and show some support. Batman DB you seem to be the only db fan who wants to talk at all. What's the problem?
  20. That will never happen. For one thing, i don't believe Stacy would ever leave his school. Likewise, we would never even offer, Even if it was the best thing to do at the time. I'm just going to wait on coach Rankin to decide to try this end of the state. Then you better hold on. So there... Roll Tribe Roll. Oh yea, why did South not want to join in on the 7 on 7 games?
  21. After we get finished with all the annexation their won't be a rebel remaining in the town. Well, maybe we could name one of the local pee wee teams after the forgotten "little rebels". The streak will remain forever. Roll Tribe Roll.....................
  22. Looks very intelligent and athletic but he needs to learn a new throwing motion. It's painful to watch him throw. But in fact he could have a future with some real instruction.
  23. Deal with it gramps. This idiot might as well have asked for some smart a-- remarks. He was begging for it. Mutt and Jeff your an idiot.
  24. St.Claire is an idiot. Worst coach i've ever seen. I wish he would leave Sevier for Col.Heights. We will trade him straight up for the lunch lady, with money to boot. Keep talking smack about '09, can't wait to see you eat crow. It may only be a few miles between us but the difference is evident every year.Roll Tribe................. As far as that great defense, can't wait to see #32 hit the hole and run somebody over, maybe even two "all staters"
  25. Having watched D. Young last year when DB played at Bearden , their is no doubt he is fast but i don't know if he is big enough to play D1. That's a big jump from High School. But man he is fast. I believe he returned the opening kickoff back for a TD and had 1 long TD run but he was out of gas before halftime because he played both ways. I wish him the best, he's still got a long time before the jump. I think our runningback Chris Sensabaugh has the size, determination and true desire to play in Knoxville if they give him the chance. He might be better served playing linebacker. Man he's a beast on defense. Some say he might play defensive back this year. Hope all the receivers have their head on a swivel. He's a head hunter. Good luck to you guys at Bearden this year. Roll Tribe.....
