  1. Sorry to go off topic BullDawgGirl03, I love TN history........your a little right and a little wrong. West was for the majority pro secession , but had areas that were both neutral and pro union. Likewise, the east had neutral (Blount County) and pro union areas (Knoxville area)......But, some areas of east TN, was for secession. Upper east TN and Chattanooga area where strong holds for the confederacy. Hate west TN?............it's cause West TN is too flat for us hillbillies! Hm....I thought it was mainly because there aren't alot of places for StarsNBars to hide his Moonshine!
  2. The west wanted to "succeed" It was secede..... darn iPhone auto correct......oh well I fixed it so laugh it up!
  3. BY GEORGE I'VE FIGURED IT ALL OUT!!! This West vs. East thing goes back to the 1860's. Yep the Civil war....When the East wanted to stay in the Union...and the West wanted to secede. Tennessee finally left the union.....But the East has been bitter ever since! That's why they hate the West so much!! HAHAHA I mean this comically of course, but....it might explain the whole separation of East and West better!
  4. Wow, I get off work and go to sleep, wake up to find 10 pages added....this shall be a fun week! In response to Milan being an "Open" zone, no they are not. The rule that you spoke of in our handbook, is to COVER any child, who has less than 2 years left in the current school that they are in. After that, they HAVE to move to their assigned district. The ONLY kids who are allowed in 9th grade to "hand pick" the school they wish to attend, are students that live in the county but not in a clearly defined district. Example: If a student is in 7th grade, they can finish attending Milan until they complete the 8th grade. That is 2 years. However, if they are in 6th grade, they have to go to the school they are assigned. I watched this happen this year, where two brothers, one in 6th, one in 8th, moved to Trenton. The 6th grader had to pick up, middle of the school year and move, where the 8th grader could stay in Milan. The 8th grader is now considered a "tuition" student, and must submit an application and pay a fee to stay in Milan, but they have that choice until the end of the school year. He will not be allowed to attend MHS. Same goes for the high school....if you move and your child is 9th or 10th grade, they must go to assigned school....11th or 12th can finish out the school. As stated before, it's not so black and white in Milan. Back in the late 90's early 00's other local school districts were losing kids, and money because kids WANTED to come to Milan. Not just for football, but because Milan is probably THE best school system in Gibson County. So no Mr. Alcoa...we are NOT the same you and I......I am more complicated! lol This all being said.....as a Milan fan...the whole open zone crap is old. When we won in '98 and '99...we WERE open zones then. Truth be told, people would probably do just the same that they do in Milan if the zones were closed....they'd just pick up and move their family IN the zone. As for the "smack talk"...I'm still not sure WHY Milan fans are perceived as cocky and arrogant. Alcoa is the 5-TIME consecutive state champions. They get on here, telling us we're gonna be beat 54-0, 48-0....all this ridiculous crap, Milan fans shoot back with a REALISTIC score of 24-21....and WE are the cocky and arrogant ones. I think I've figured it out Huf, and Johnnie....these other East TN suck up the Alcoa, HOPING that when they play...NEXT year by the way....that they won't hurt them SOOO bad. Just hoping that Alcoa will have just a LITTLE mercy on them! lol
  5. Question to all the "Trolls".... If your team was playing Alcoa this Friday night, would you get on here and post, "Man, my team doesn't stand a CHANCE against Alcoa. They are the best in the state. I'm not sure why I'm even going to Cookeville. TSSAA should just go ahead and ship that silver ball to us, and that gold ball to Alcoa!" Yeah didn't think you would.....but just incase you missed the memo... MILAN is playing Alcoa this Friday night...and you can all whine and complain all you want but that will NEVER come out of our mouths...and you'll never shut us up! So TROLL ON young ones....TROLL on!
  6. ACTUALLY, if you will kindly go back and RE-READ the post, the statement made was that we "pounded you by 30 points". Nothing about pounding you physically. We did "pound" you by 28 unanswered points in the 2nd half. I simply got on here and pointed out the lack of class by the statement he made. I still now, and will ALWAYS think it's a lack of class move, when a PLAYER gets on here and calls fans from an opposing team "pompous idiots". I took offense to that. I go out and support my Dawgs every week. Before his post on THIS thread, he made himself known in the Alcoa/Milan thread, and I COMPLEMENTED him on a job well done. Only to get on this one and see he calls me an idiot. So no, not the most "class" on my part to attack him, but he was WAY out of line. He's supposed to be the LEADER of his team. No I am not the most knowelable person on football, and what I was saying with the smoke and mirrors is it isn't a play that is regularly run in ANY game. it's a TRICK play...hence smoke and mirrors. It was a good play...I clapped for it because it was a good job. I can overlook fans, because week in and week out we are simply the people in the stands. And what we say on here is just opinions. But when a coach, team member, administration get on here, and start name calling, THAT is what I believe to show lack of class. Think what you may...I'm sure the not everyone thinks as Mr. Asberry does. But he is the one who gave his number and made it known who exactly he was. If it had been just another fan, I probably would have overlooked it as someone who sits in the stands just like I do.
  7. Ok so this is my last post on this topic, then I’m done. We’ve got a ballgame to get ready for on Friday afternoon. And where the fans are still somewhat lingering behind, I can guarantee our boys have already begun to focus on Alcoa as of 10pm Friday night! 1. If you weren’t at the game Friday night, the halftime score of 15-14 was probably shocking. It however does not show the true facts of the game. Facts: Milan scored both times they touched the ball in a true Milan style, pound it in the endzone. York scored one touchdown on a great pass play, a pass play that Milan spent a good deal of the 1st quarter figuring out. York came out and threw it fast, and scored first and fast. HOWEVER, their second TD was smoke and mirrors. Even though smoke and mirror plays are a part of football, that’s a part Milan doesn’t see very often, so it confused the players, the coaches, and MAINLY the fans. The center never picked up the ball, he stepped over the ball, QB picked it up and they ran in for a TD. It was a play that our defense was set for a pass, leaving a lot of room for the QB to run it in for a TD. I would venture to guess, that even the Beast Alcoa would be a little surprised to see such a play as well. But Milan DID figure out the pass and shut it DOWN in the 2nd half even in the 2nd quarter. They may have thrown the ball, but not in the red zone. Two TD’s and a field goal was hardly calling Milan “down”. Everyone can gather their own assumptions, but that’s just a little more information for you to gather on. 2. As far as Milan fans being cocky, yes my comments last night were out of line. However, One of these message boards is the LAST place a player needs to be, trash talking with fans. I don’t care if you’re 16, 18, 28, 48, I’m not gonna let anyone call me a “pompous idiot” and not say something back. ESPECAILLY when I had been VERY nice and respectful to what turned out to be a very respectable York team. It was York, who in my opinion, got on here after the game acting like we “stole” something from them. Just to remind everyone, this whole “argument” started when someone named “ProudParent” got on here, and seemed happy about the fact their York Dragons INJURED two of our Players. It was out of line, and totally uncalled for, yet it seems that the MILAN fans who got upset (mainly me) is the one who is talking all the blame for it. Which is fine, I could really care less, but still! 3. Finally, as far as all these other people who were “going” to cheer for Milan, but aren’t now because apparently we support our team and don’t think that the Mighty Beast Alcoa is going to have their way with us, IN MY OPINION…and this is no reflection of any other fan of Milan but myself, but I could care less if you cheer for us or not! Milan has a GREAT fan base, and you’ll see that in Cookeville on Friday. Our boys know who their TRUE fans are….we don’t need wagon riders! Besides, most people like to be winners anyway and since NO ONE gives us a chance but ourselves, I would only expect you to jump on Alcoa’s wagon. With that being said, It’s Monday….and a new week. It’s PURPLE PRIDE week. I wish everyone a safe trip to Cookeville.
  8. Milan started the season missing (if I'm not mistaken) 6 starters. So yes, they started out slowly. Which explains the first three games being closer than people would think. After week 3, most of the starters were back on the field.
  9. I have never, and will never curse the boys working their butts off on the field. But it's kids like you with "senioritis" who in my opinion shouldn't be on this site. Coaches should ban their players from getting on here and arguing with fans anyway. You say you never said a cross word, yet you call me a pompous idiot??? That sounds a little cross. I however was one of the first people to get on here and 1. wish your team the best of luck, and a safe trip, and 2. a congrats for playing us hard and giving us such a hard fought win. and you say I'm the reason people hate Milan? No people hate Milan because Milan wins. THAT is the End of the Story. Good luck in the remainder of your high school career. Hope you choose to go to college and you do well as there also.
  10. The more and more you York people post, the more and more respect you lose from ME! Not ONLY is it just fans....it's the actual PLAYERS!!!! CLASSLESS AT IT'S BEST!!! I know a few things as someone sitting in the stands, 1. If it was YOU that was screaming out on the field...who's pain was echoing across the field, I bet your Mama wouldn't like it very much if someone claiming to be a "proud parent" got on here, basically BRAGGING about hurting another 17 year old KID! 2. I'm glad you've watched the game film twice. That's THREE times that you got to watch your @$$ get handed to you in the 2nd half of the game. 1st half doesn't mean $#!* when you can't do anything 2nd half! and 3. I'm glad you've gotten on here and showed everyone how truly CLASSLESS your team really is, and how you got what you deserved.....a 4 hour sight seeing trip to Milan! Like I said, all the Milan fans have given your team credit, that now I'm starting to see, maybe you DIDN'T deserve. The only "pompous idiots" around here, and the players that get on here and argue with grown men and women about a game. You're right, we ARE there to watch and support you guys. But you need to learn when to shut your mouth little boy!
  11. You also have to take into consideration that Milan didn't play their starters after 35 either. That meant, no starters after halftime, after week 3. First two rounds of the playoffs, starters were out of the game by end of the 1st quarter. So those were our two highest scoring games all season, and those points were put up on our 2nd and 3rd strings. Nothing new to Milan folks that our offense isn't as strong. This is the first year our QB has started....or has even played the QB position. So I think 32 fewer points by a guy who never even touched the ball as a QB last season is not "down". We know Milan will have to play 100% better....and trust me, they will. I know Milan doesn't have the toughest schedule....they are in a pretty weak district. But what can they do about that? That's the card they were dealt. What could they have changed? Huntingdon...our biggest rival? Humboldt...the longest rivalry in the state of TN? We play JCS to get practice against throwing teams, such as York that we might see. So call TSSAA and complain that there isn't the talent in West TN that there is in East TN. But I wouldn't waste my breath....they want $$$ and rivalries mean $$$!
  12. Most of you guys are just on here for kicks and giggles, but this post is the best and most sensible by a Milan fan this season. Maryville has probably improved a lot since August, as they were a fairly young team this year, but I saw them put up more than 400 yards of total offense on Riverdale last week. (By the way, Riverdale has one of the best defenses in D-I.) To think that Alcoa did the same thing to the Red Rebels shows that Coach Rankin's team is very strong. Alcoa fans can expect to see Milan's best game. Whether that means the Tornadoes still win or the Bulldogs pull the upset, we won't know until Friday. But as a fan, that's all you can ask of your team. Best of luck to Coach Morris and the guys as they practice this week - looking forward to seeing you back in the championship. Most of the things said around here are for just show. Truth is, Milan fans KNOW what we're up against....again I state, The BEAST from the East! It's going to be a TOUGH game. We have our few, (Swingjuice is usually the "leader") who get on here and talk up Milan, and "50+" and crap like that. But don't judge that on our ENTIRE fan base. The majority of Milan's fans know this isn't going to be easy....but it's ENTIRELY possible. If Milan comes out this Friday, like they did against York last Friday....we've lost before we hit the field. But it's back to normal for the guys this week. School every day, practice every day, focus every day, and Friday, it's GAME DAY! My boys are gonna be ready.....and so will yours......and my tag line remains... Round Two of: The BEAST from the East, and the BEST of the West!!
  13. This post is hilarious! Keep on believing that! Alcoa didn't blow any team out of the water because we actually played some teams: CAK & Loudon. I have no idea where you got the impression that "Alcoa is a little down this year". This team is probably better than any team we've had the past 5 years. It's definitely a different team, but probably better. coachh17: Loudon actually had 9 in the box. Worked for a while. Good game plan, but our line is just too good. POUND THE ROCK! I get that impression from these stats: 2008: Alcoa vs. Opponents 622points to 75points 2009: Alcoa vs. Opponents 567points to 114points. Alcoa has scored less, gave up more. That to me signifies being "down". Milan stats: 2008: Milan vs Opponents 581points to 239points 2009: Milan vs. Opponents 549points to 140points Offense relatively the same....Defense better. THAT is my argument.
  14. We Milan fans know that JBronk is by NO means our fastest player. However, he is that guy that about 5 dragons grabbed ahold of, and he gained about 6 more yards with them on his back. Fast....don't need it when you can just carry the line down the field with you! lol However, GREAT game Tyrel! You guys played a GREAT game, and if you didn't have so many people going both ways, could have definitely made a GREAT 4 quarter game out of it. You were by far the best team we'd seen all year, and that's what we expected in the Semi's. Bad thing for Milan, is they are only as strong as their toughest opponent. and up until York...well they didn't have a tough opponent! Anyway great game Tyrel, and great season. Wish you the best of luck!
  15. So what exactly is the reasoning behind the predictions of Alcoa "blowing" Milan out of the water?? They didn't blow them away last year....it was 28-14. And from what I've heard, Alcoa is a little down, Milan is a little better. I just don't see Alcoa blowing us out of the water. They haven't blown ANY team out of the water during the playoffs. I'm picking my by 3 or 7. I'll have a more exact prediction by the end of the week! GO DAWGS!!!
  16. We have something in common, because most Milan fans I venture to guess will be pulling for Union City!
  17. the funny thing is you guys are fixing to do the same thing you are going to drive 4 hours and probably wont even put up a fight in the first half but i will be there cheering for alcoa OMG!! blah,blah,blah....you sound like a second grader...I for one enjoyed the drive down...our boys played a great game...and by no means were the dragons pounded...it may have been a 28 point ballgame in favor of the Milan dawgs(just alittle math correction for you) but our boys made the dawgs work for it... they didn't just hand it over..I do beleive that the game was held up twice while the dawgs got players off the field..I hope you guys enjoy the drive up to the game and hope that taking home the silver doesn't make you feel like you wasted you time driving up to be steam rolled by ALCOA!!! Because I do believe Alcoa will have a 28 point lead on the dawgs before the first quarter with little effort.... WOAH WOAH PUFFY....Don't cheap shot our guys when ONE: You chop block Coleman(88) and hold him up and another guy rolls on his ankle....ironically the SAME ankle that he injured a few weeks ago. The kid was screaming SO loud in pain you could hear him in the stands....and YOU wanna get on here and cheap shot him. Was the injury intensional....I'd like to think not, but it was questionable...Classless on your part "proud parent"! How would you feel if it was YOUR child you were listening to scream out in pain?????? and TWO when 12 was jumping over one of your guys to avoid hitting him while down and he's mid air, and YOUR player hits him in the air. NEITHER were fair, but we didn't get on here whinning. I thought Milan was a complete class act to you guys. Milan MAY come home with a silver ball....but at LEAST we get a ball...you get a 4 hour drive back down I-40 and not a DERN thing to show for it but a bruised ego and know that you're only 4th best in the state! And for the other post about the stats.... Pretty pathetic when a team can TOTALLY control the stats like York did, and STILL come out 28 points behind!! Milan has been VERY respectful to York, given the credit where the credit is due. But your few fans are showing THEIR lack of class....not Milan. So come to Cookeville and cheer for Alcoa if you wish. Just know, that while you're sitting in the stands watching....WE are ON the field, playing our chance!
  18. Gosh I'm surprised at this thread....Milan folks talking up there two SEC commitments on another thread... Now all this ole pity me crap: odds stacked against your team? opening up school zones? Pick your own talent? YOU SAID IT RIGHT DON'T COMMENT ANY MORE AND THE MILAN FOLKS SHOULD RUN YOU OUT OF TOWN FOR NOT HAVING CONFIDENCE IN YOUR TEAM....GO HOME AND HIDE YOU COWARD!!!!!! FOR THE RECORD: The one who STARTED the post about Avery isn't even a Milan fan. Would someone from Milan started one? Maybe....maybe not. Seems like OTHER people around the area like to talk FOR Milan as much as us FROM Milan!
  19. You, are one sad sad little man! I'm not sure who exactly struck a nerve with you...considering we never even played Bledsoe Co.....but NO ONE was talking seriously about where people live or grew up or anything. You must not read ANY other threads if you think Milan is the ONLY ones taunting other teams. What about when people talk $hit about where WE were born and raised?!?!? Oh I guess that's ok because we're just Milan. You need to go somewhere else because this is a thread for the BEAST OF THE EAST and the BEST OF THE WEST. You sir, are neither. Your team is at home....go cry about it and stop whinning on OUR thread!
  20. So this is what chapps my @$$! Every Milan fan that's posted since the game has gotten on here and given York the credit they deserved! Yet we're still called cocky, and "morons". Let me give you a little stat: I believe if I'm not mistaken....York had possession of the ball for something like 32 minutes....Milan 16. York had the ball TWICE as long as Milan....and we STILL managed to outscore you by 28 points. We don't deserve this gold ball we're playing for, yet every opponent we've gotten on the field with we have DOMINATED! Last night, we know that we didn't dominate the 1st half....but luckily there are FOUR quarters in football. And we did WAY more in the 2nd half than York even thought of doing in the 1st! I'm always the one on here that gets fed up with OUR over zealous fans, but even THOSE guys have given you credit. And you...Mr. Patroiotspy...YOU don't deserve the ball because YOU couldn't defeat the BEST IN THE WEST to get there! We however have our shot!!! So go lace the shoes up nice and tight....cause for you dear sir, it's basketball season!!! And ps...I'll give you a basic rundown at halftime from the Milan crowd....it went something like this: "What the heck...where is OUR team" "They are gonna have to stop number 41" "They should have put the turkey down EARLIER" "We won't get to Cookeville this way" "Wow didn't expect this from York" That's the basics. We were surprised, yes. BUT, we have faith in our Dawgs and knew they'd come out and shove the first half down your throats..........and they did!
  21. GREAT job to York! They truly showed Milan was "Mountain" football is all about in the first half. And apparently that's "trick play" football....which WORKED! But after halftime, Milan adjusted, and showed those Mountain boys just exactly what WEST TENNESSEE smash mouth football is about! And I'm glad they decided to show up! lol Does anyone have any news on Christian Coleman??? I can say, I've been to ALOT of football games and I have NEVER heard a stadium THAT quiet....it was soooo quiet when he was on the field, you could hear him screaming in pain, and could hear the coaches talking in a normal tone on the sidelines. I know most of all he's just disappointed. Anyway congrats to my Bulldawgs! Way to go York! SEE Y'ALL IN COOKEVILLE!!!
  22. DING, DING, DING.... Ladies and Gentlemen....Let's get ready for the MAIN EVENT! It's round two of the BEAST FROM THE EAST vs. THE BEST FROM THE WEST!!!!! I've been looking forward to this week on CoachT for the past 51 weeks! I love the bantering back and forth. Both of these teams deserve to be where they are at! They are both gonna come and play hard! I'm looking so forward to this game....I just can't wait!!!! Good luck to both teams..... GO DAWGS!!!!!
  23. Yet Milan is still in it during week 4 of the playoffs.....and Goodpasture is at home. Maybe they can beat 4A teams, but apparently they can't beat teams in their own class, 3A.
  24. I'm a little late.....because I was out shopping at 3:30 this morning....BUT I hope the York fans are having a good drive to The Dawg Pound!!! Enjoy our little town....we're kinda proud! Enjoy the fireworks....I hope it's gonna be like the 4th of July Thanksgiving! lol GO DAWGS!!!!!
