  1. Well I guess I took offense when I saw my girls being trashed by a couple of SM fans. They had the same team this year basically that we played last year. Boyd on the other hand lost 4 key players to graduation and still made it back to the State Championship match. I can't imagine the pressure that little 8th grader had on her shoulders setting in the state championship finals. I know the pressure that a setter goes through because my daughter was the starting setter last year on the Championship team. She played through the Region tournament through the state tournament with a sprained ankle. Boyd had a great run in many sports last year. Lady Bucs started it off by winning state in volleyball...Football Bucs were state runner up...Baseball Bucs were state runner up also..then it was topped off by the boys soccer team winning a state championship...Class of 2010 has some very great memories! Many of these kids are now playing college sports....Proud of all of them! Now go get 'em Friday night Bucs!
  2. Point being no one acted this way towards you guys last year when you failed to make it in to the championship match? And again, Boyd was very young and was not expected to even make it back to the Championship match. An 8th grader played in a key position on the floor...I would say that the Lady Bucs don't have to take a back seat to Signal...the last three years produced 2 State Runner Ups and a State Championship...just saying.
  3. You know I don't remember anyone from Boyd talking this way last year when our girls kicked Signal Mountain's butt in volleyball. I don't have a daugther still on the team. She was one of the 4 seniors that graduated off of last year's State Championship team. Boyd played with a setter who was an 8th grader. For those of you who don't know the importance of a setter, the setter on the team is like a point guard on a basketball team. For Boyd to make it back to the Championship match with an 8th grade setter speaks volumes for what they accomplished this year. I might add that this was the 4th year in a row that Boyd made an appearance in the State Tournament. In 2008 we were the only Class A school in the field with Class AA teams and we were state runner up that year. That gave our girls the drive to make it back last year and they dominated many schools including Signal. The 2009 Lady Bucs State Champsionship team had wins over larger schools like Soddy Daisy and Red Bank during tournament last year too Mountain Troll....Rachel Harper, who is a senior this year, is probably one of the best volleyball players to come out of Chattanooga. She signed a scholarship with Carson Newman...show some respect.

  5. The Lady Bucs of Boyd-Buchanan beat Notre Dame 25-12, 25-20, 25-19.

    Speed

Speed can kill in the outfield. Last year, one of our players hit a pretty good fly ball to the outfield. It originally looked like it was going over Hammond's head. Whitney Hammond ran it down and made a spectacular play. This hit would have been a basehit on anyone else. You can't teach speed!

    Just Pitchers

Coach Mo...As a Boyd softball parent, we are thrilled to have Katie this year. She will contribute immediately and in a big way!!! Looking forward to the season!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Thanks....most of us know that this is about the kids. Reaction is right...you can't expect to win with 6 turnovers. These kids should be back next year. Bucs return a lot of talent. We will miss our seniors greatly. Great season guys. I know you didn't want it to end so soon, but everyone loses their last game unless you are the state champs. Take it and learn from the experience. Good luck to Marion the rest of the way.
  9. Gracious winner aren't you... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  10. Game day is finally here. Play hard for each other Bucs. Take it to the next level. I sense that same chemistry that our girls had in volleyball this year. It has been a great year so far for sports at Boyd. Go out and win it and let's celebrate in the swamp tonight!!! GO BUCS!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Respect All..Fear NONE!!!!! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  12. So it's the refs fault now? LOL...I was once told this...if the officials were part of the game it was your own fault. In any sport, you go out and play harder than your opponent to keep the officials out of the game. Boyd has had many bad calls this year too. It's part of the game as long as human beings are the officials. Go Bucs....Good luck and defend The House!!
  13. The record includes the two victories this year in the playoffs that we have hosted. Sure on any given day any team can win, but don't doubt that the coaches will keep this team focused and ready to defend the house again Friday night.
  14. With all due respect, you might want to take a look at Boyd's playoff record when they play at home. Since 2002, when the Bucs host a playoff game they are 13-1. I fully expect that record to be 14-1 after Friday night. They are tough to beat at home. Bucs win 35-14.....
  15. I can tell you from my own experience, I brought my kids here for academics. I have been a parent here since 1994. You can talk to most parents and they will tell you the same thing. As it applies to our athletic programs...many of these kids have been in school together since elementary. Most have played sports together since middle school. Many of our high school kids go to football camps..they play travel softball, club volleyball etc. during the off season. They put in the additional work...That's why I get offended when this topic comes up. These kids work hard for what they have achieved....plain and simple.
  16. As a Boyd parent, who has a kid that plays vasity sports, I am telling you here and now it DOES NOT HAPPEN.
  17. So you think Hughes was recruited too? LOL I don't care how many times you guys are told the truth, you will still throw accusations out there in hoping that one of them will stick. Hughes has been at Boyd since he was a small guy (elementary school). Where were you guys when Boyd had their down years? I know I am opening up a can of worms, but why don't you guys try playing under the 1.8 multiplier rule that we play under? I think our enrollment this year is 276, but we play schools that are double and triple our size. If we are successful, I can guarantee you that the main reason for our success is because our kids work hard during the off season...plain and simple.
  18. To the families involved, may God hold you in his hands during this tragic time. Prayers go up for you from Boyd Buchanan.
  19. I am so proud of the boys in blue. You played your hearts out. Congrats to SP...I knew this would be a close game. And The Ambassador, I am still not baking you that cake, and I might add I was pretty on about this game. LOL I may be female, but I KNOW my football. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. Why can't some of you South Pittsburgh fans post without insults? I am sure it is not because you have run out of things to say... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I taught my kid to do the talking on the playing field. I can't wait to see Boyd do some talking.
  21. Wow PP I guess our coaches must have the ability to see talent in 5 year olds, because that is how long many of our players have been at Boyd. Put up or shut up!! You make allegations that you can not back up..GO BUCS!!
  22. LOL....I guess Spittburgh wanted to take it easy on Lookout Valley too, huh? They kept the starters in late into the fourth quarter when they were up over 40 points. The announcers even commented that they thought it was a little strange. Oh well maybe someone could explain away that one? I truly want to thank all of you for firing up our kids at Boyd Buchanan. Tell Coach Grider he won't have to worry about making the decision to pull out his starters because it won't happen tonight!!! GO BUCS!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  23. Pirate, Will Healy went to the Air Force then transferred to the University of Richmond. After him was Drew Akins, who is playing at Carson Newman. Yes, they were both playmakers, but Nic Hughes has probably the strongest throwing arm of the three. That combined with the huge O-Line, and the great running attack of Ben Beasley and Taylor Gilley makes Boyd a balanced offensive threat. Defensively, Boyd is very talented up front and Seth Emery is probably one of the best linebackers in this area. (Oh I forgot...according to The Ambassador, I am not supposed to know anything about football because I am a woman...LOL) BTW, I don't bake cakes either. Guess the all knowing Ambassador doesn't know it all after all..does he? LOL This should be a great game..can't wait to see it.
  24. Bigger? Go to the TSSAA site and see enrollments for this fall. South Pittsburg has 243 and big ole Boyd is 278. When our varsity volleyball team handed Cookeville a loss earlier in the season, the coach from Cookeville looked a little shocked to find out what our enrollment was. Then we heard the mantra that all Boyd parents hear when our kids are successful in sports..well you guys can recruit. No we can't..because we compete in Division 1 sports. Just like volleyball, a majority of our starters in football have been here since elementary school. Good luck Bucs and Lady Bucs Volleyball. This should be a great season for fall sports in the playoffs.
