  1. This past school year Overton won district titles in every sport...I believe....and as far as metro goes as a whole..some of the problem is with the private schools recruiting the good athletic kids. Not looking for a fight, just an honest statement.
  2. The gentleman who does the website is a volunteer...not done by the school but FOR the school and FOR the team. He does a great job. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  3. I was at a certain ballgame last year...during the game...an opposing player yelled curse words at my sons coach when he was trying to get the attentionof the ref and ask him about a cheap shot that was made. Then...after the game the "boys" from the other team told the cheerleaders that they better watch it that they were gonna "have their way with them" after the game. The coach was responsible for the team when they are on the field and off the field and so when I see a team acting like trash ...then they are trash. Now..telling another player you're gonna lay them out ont he next play is one thing..but the other stuff that I mentioned is flat out wrong. But look at how society is today and with a lot of the professional players out there, they are idolized by all including hollywood. I have taught my boys that when you go out and play on the field to play with ALL of your heart and use your head and to play with respect. Anyway..if I find out they've shown their tails then they have to deal withme and they don't like that much at all.
  4. You should feel proud and so should your brother. Its awesome if they are able to find out now how much they mean to the players and the impact they have had on their lives..but sometimes it isn't until later...so coaches just keep up the awesome job.
  5. As a mom of a rec league football player...I too think that this is an awesome topic. I was talking with the coaches the other night and another mom came up and chewed the coach a new one cause her son only played 3 downs in the jamboree. She went ON AND ON AND On about how much talent her child had and that he just needed someone to help him to better understand the offensive plays. SO...that night I watched practice and the boy who was soo talented was spinning around the goal post and trying to horse around with the other team members. The boys finally got tired of it and told him to go away and play with the pee wee team. Maybe the saying should be Talent is in the eye of the beholder hungh? The only thing that I have ever said to a Coach was WHat can I do to help? And oh if my son ain't getting the job done then tell him he better get it done or pull him off the field and put someone in who can get the job done. I reckon I better note that my father played football at Furman and coached many years after that..so football is in my blood and soul. So to be a crazy sport mom is TOTALLY out of the question. Daddy have my hide!!! Another interesting deal was his funeral was the loudest and largest I had ever been to and was truly amazed at the amount of football players(thathe had coached) came back to the funeral. I would say that the common thread among them all was that the positive influence he had on his players. And how they would not be the men they are today if it weren't for my dad. Thanks to ALL of the coaches that take their time and give their passion to these kids. You may never know whose life you made a HUGE difference in..so keep up the great job!!!!
  6. NCS won their game against Mt. Juliet Christian 20-7
