Cap, it isn't a weak schedule because going into the season North was only favored in one of their first five games...and probably only favored in one of their final five games...so they have overachieved...and even did so this past Friday night against you all... Throp will be having surgery on his thumb tomorrow @ 2:20pm...if things progress well in the healing process he will be casted and back for the playoffs...the thumb is broken at the point where it connects to the wrist...somewhat shattered...can't risk waiting due to the amount of breakage...if the joint isn't involved with the pinning, screwing, and/or steel plating, then he can possibly be casted in four (4) weeks...so there is still work to be done, got to get the Golden Raiders to the playoffs...great coaching, great players, all with great heart... I had hoped for a great game with good sportsmanship and everyone remain injury free...it was a great game, great character and sportsmanship, but that last part didn't happen...North's #3, Sterling Throp, broke his thumb late in the second period (as Bill Lane said in the Times News), it will require surgery to repair... Cap your son is the most underutilized offensive talent in NET...???...congratulations to the Vikings... Great job by Coach Norris and his staff...I am so proud of the Golden Raiders... Much thanks to all the D-B players, parents, and fans who were in attendance supporting their friends and former teammates...again, more character on display...I am also proud of the Indians... shouldn't we be able get to TSSAA officials who can at least bend over and set the ball on the ground, as opposed to having to drop it to the turf?...just an observation, concern, and question...they didn't decide the outcome of the game, but they were not mobile enough to handle the talent and speed on the field. Tennessee High is still Tennessee High and the game is being played in the Stone Castle...but I guarantee North will play hard, That is what they do...I also guarantee Tennessee High will play hard, cause that is what they do... don't know if there are "so many transfers", (and don't call me Shirley) but some of the families have moved and some have utilized the city/county lottery situation...all are legal...and all are part of a TEAM...with at least five games left to play...and the next one is a big one...and hopefully would be a good one... I think the support for the job Coach Norris and his staff and the players have done has been very positive...it seems to me that most of the area has been very supportive including folks from D-B... North has played hard every game, that is a testament to the people involved...they have been able to be face the season as underdogs and they have grown together as a unit; again a testament to the people involved...I sure enjoy the effort of this team... all the kids who have matriculated to North are all there for different and personal reasons...but the end result is that all three teams closest to Kingsport are having great seasons with young people having a chance to be a part of something, to compete, to grow, to learn, and hopefully in the big picture to succeed... D-B is 54-17-4 all-time against Elizabethton...31-7-2 at home and 23-10-2 @ Brown-Childress Stadium...D-B has won 11 straight and Coach Clark is 7-0 against the Cyclones...Elizabethton last defeated D-B on 10/21/88 34-7 and last won at home against D-B on 8/30/85 31-14... Satch, It will be a bit different at the old ball yard tonight, but there will not be playing on the new field turf outside the lines...I am not sure how you get in and over except on the scoreboard end...and yes there is a very nice concession stand and bathrooms on the visitor side...also houses the groundskeeper and and baseball lockerooms and coaches office...and if there is health food available, you are certainly welcome...your youngster sure looked good at the jamboree...come up and say hello (and grab a bite...ha,ha).
