Cool thing is that 17 of 22 girls on the list are from West TN and 13 of that 17 ARE NOW part of the Lady Lobos organization! 3. Briarcrest - 1 Brentwood Academy - 1 Briarcrest played Brentwood Academy today for a 1 to 1 tie in Nashville. Both teams played hard in very hot temperatures with a 1:00 kick off.
  4. Briarcrest is in Nashville this weekend to play Franklin Road Academy and Brentwood Academy. Briarcrest beat FRA with a score ot 3 to 2 with Briarcrest playing a strong first half and FRA playing a strong 2nd half. Brentwood game is on Saturday.
  5. Soccermom, how does this work? Are there two separate divisions? Like an upper and lower, or are they just on different sides of a bracket? It is an upper/lower division. I don't know if the tournament bases the division on past game history or on requests by the teams. I'm also not sure why games between divisions re scheduled and then have those games count in standings for each division. Regardless, Briarcrest had some really good AAA teams to play which was great to get the season kicked off. With injuries, sickness, and only playing one forward in some of the games....pretty happy with the results! At times, we had six freshmen on the field which was great experience for those girls.
  6. Here is the link to the final standings for the tournament: http://www.ladywildcatsoccer.org/katieh ... sults.html
  7. That would be correct. Greeneville was in the Barry Redmond division....I would guess that they would be champion in that division...not sure how the rest of the division came out. Greeneville was one of the teams that may should have been in the Katie Hunter division while there were some teams in the Katie Hunter division that may should have been in the Barry Redmond division.
  8. It was a good weekend for the West.....to my knowledge, West TN teams took the top SIX spots! And yes...the Houston/Oak Ridge game was an excellent game to watch with some awesome soccer played. After the above listing, the following estimated results in the Katie Hunter division: 4th place - Briarcrest with 9 points (started the weekend disjointed and poorly against Oak Ridge and then finished with solid games against Ravenwood, Independence, and Beech) 5th place - Collierville with 8 points 6th place - Germantown with 7 points Difficulty with this tournament is that not all teams play the same teams to accurately provide standings. Due to this, the results can easily be skewed. Some of the Katie Hunter division teams played Barry Redmond division teams and then there were some teams in the Katie Hunter division that were beaten by 5 or more goals EACH game that really should potentially not been included in the division that prevent accurate standings. Strong showing from the West regardless of how the standings are calculated!
  9. Briarcrest 2 to 1 over Ravenwood. Exciting game with good play on both sides. Ravenwood's goal was an own goal with a shot deflecting off of a Briarcrest's defender leg in the first half. Briarcrest goals came in the 2nd half. Well played game by the girls but not a very well called game by the ref team....let too much happen risking injury to the players. And...Briarcrest over Independence with a score of 3 to 0. Pretty physical game with several yellow cards shown. Germantown beat McMinn Central 3 to 1.
  10. Oak Ridge 4 to 1 over Briarcrest. Oak Ridge had a lot of chances....we saved the really good chances and the didn't play as well as we could have for the ones that hit the back of the net. They have great speed in the back and up top and move well off of the ball. Briarcrest played with only one forward with all of the girls out with either injuries or illnesses and didn't fare well for offense. At one point, there were six freshman on the field! Made a lot of runs from the outside and out of the center, but had about 10 to 15 off sides calls....some were very well called while others were questionable. Other scores that I have heard of was St Benedict 4 to 2 over Beech and Collierville 5 to 0 over McMinn Central. Germantown and Greenwood were tied 0 to 0 at the half.
  11. Need I say more? Have a great weekend!
  12. That will have to be in the running for quote of the season. I was hoping that someone would recognize the humor in that! Have a nice long weekend!
  13. Briarcrest should have an interesting weekend in Oak Ridge....we have three out with flu and two out with injuries that will not be making the trip! Great news is that this gives some play time to the Freshmen! I don't think that the flu cases are H1N1 though... However.....to Oak Ridge, Ravenwood, Independence, and Beech....I wouldn't mark us too closely......
  14. You should not have any difficulty with them....one of the weaker teams from the West. Last year, most of the stronger teams from the West beat them by 7 to 10 goals..... Good luck this weekend!
  15. [/color] Please say hello to water puppy for us and congrats on that win there. Nice summation on your game versus Hutch. Sounds like you came out in a whirlwind at the half and threw Hutch off their game....we will have to watch for that....wonder what Bobby said to them to get them so fired up?!?! A couple of quick goals can really affect the chemistry of the opponent that is tough to ever recover from. We still have our speed and talent up top....just need to find the net more often off of our shots! And yes....let's make a huge statement from the West!
  16. you are sooo good!!!! Congrats on the win! So....what was the game like? Evenly played, played in the middle of the field, etc? I heard that SAA played very skillfully and with a lot of speed. Was this at SAA or at Hutch? Inquiring minds want to know!
  17. Briarcrest tied Germantown 0 to 0.....BCHS had many shots but no goals. G'twon plays an awesome defense! "Great coaches, superior athletes, I think that's the politically correct way to post scores ! ! "....no, not an origional comment! And, Houston beat White Station 9 to 1 so I heard....
  18. OK..... Let the games begin. You have 1 post and I have 515. Also as a beginner, you must learn to think before you post. Someone who is loyal to Hutchison, like yourself, can't see that losing 7 games by 1 point is losing 7 games. just reported the scores and was actually slamming ECS and Briarcrest for losing. You know Water Dog....that was just too funny! The series of posts was extremely entertaining and gave me a smile and a chuckle today during a pretty hectic day at the office! And yes....I did realize that the DUH was slamming Briarcrest....and to be quite honest....rightfully deserved based on the way we played that night...a situation that we hope to not have happen again! And yes...a loss IS a loss regardless of how well the game was actually played by the teams or what the score was...one team was either really lucky or the other team just didn't do what was necessary....funny thing about soccer! Please keep up the humor and the posts.....laughter is good for the soul! Looking forward to seeing you when we play St Anges!
  19. Comments....wow....wish Briarcrest had the chance to play that game over! St George's played their game with good passing and speed....and their keeper also played well. And Briarcrest...well....off balance in defense with some miscommunications and offensively had many, many shots that were either mis-paced or mis-placed! The girls just weren't in-sync last night with a poor first half but with great possession in the 2nd half...just couldn't get the shots in the net....very frustrating. Can't say we didn't have the opportunity to win the game. Oh well....let's look forward to the next game! I heard that ECS and Hutchison played a very evenly matched game with neither team having a lot of shots on goal.
  20. So, who all does that leave in D2 Class A West #1? My guess is Lausanne, ECS, St Mary's, Harding...but who else? Out of that group, I would have to put ECS on top.
  21. It was a great weekend for Memphis area teams. However, not all of the teams participating in the pre-season tournament were as strong as the teams that we will all meet up with during season play and in Oak Ridge. Good news is that all of the teams were able to play the entire bench (including JV players) over the weekend to try out different line ups. Briarcrest and St Agnes both went 3 and 0 with strong wins. Two of the teams that both Briarcrest and St Agnes teams played were not very strong, but each team had one good challenging game....Briarcrest over Jackson Academy and St Agnes over Jackson Prep. Hutchison won two and tied one...but the tie could have easily been a win....one of those games where you have plenty of chances but the shots just are slightly off target...yes, we have ALL been there. I know that Collierville won their first game (and most likely the rest) and that Houston won all of their games. I believe that Germantown also fared well with close wins by 1 goal and possibly a tie.
  22. I thought that there were only two state champs for D2 (D2A and D2AA) and two state champs for publics (AAA and AA/A)....so they are even for soccer. Are there more for other sports? The division of whether to be D2A or D2AA is based on number of students only. Some smaller schools initially try to compete in D2AA but find that they are typically better matched with schools their same size in D2A. I believe that the enrollment threshold is around 525....above that number you are D2AA and below that enrollment number, you have the choice to be D2AA or D2A. A private school with smal enrollment has the opportunity to play either D2 division; however, private schools with large enrollments have no choice and play D2AA. I believe that once you decide on the division, you have to stay there for some number of years and ALL sports for the school must be in the same division. For the good of the school as a whole, the division is determined...
  23. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to all Memphis teams! I guess that there are only four state champs/finalists unless they have created a new division.....AAA, AA/A, D2AA, and D2A....are there any others?
  24. OK...I'll get in here! Waterdog....I am going to miss seeing you on the soccer field! I do agree that St Agnes has some very young talent...but I don't think that this will be their year to win state. However, Briarcrest should have a good year with a very strong team and another good run at state! We also have picked up about 13 to 15 Freshmen this year.....some of which are extremely talented for future growth of the program. Last year, I indicated early on that Briarcrest had a great chance....and we were only one goal away from being state champs for 2008....here's to hoping for the state champ ring this year! Canes.....we may have a small division....but it is a talented one. In comparing the teams that D2 have to get past to the ones that Collierville and Houston have to get past to go to state there is no comparison. AAA out of the west is very lopsided in talent with many teams in the bracket who don't stand a chance giving Collierville and Houston easy walks. At D2, it could be anyone's game based on the talent pool at the respective schools in the division....much tougher road to make it to state.
