nice comeback! i thought i already had the title of most un-intelligent post? dang i was starting to embrace it! ha ha

in h.s. baseball everyone can hit, however if u can have a guy throw 90s and can change speeds he can carry u to a few games. but u need a solid catcher and be strong up the middle. i think if u have a stud pitching and good defense up the middle you can easily win 60% of your games. A second strong pitcher can carry you to atleast regionals. to go to a state tournament you can get there with a stud, a good pitcher, two relievers that could start for a lesser team and a rock solid d with a decent offense. to be a state champ you have to have three quality starters and then some relievers. a defense that has a fielding % of 80 and some guys in the lineup that get on base, can hit for average, and hit for power. to be a national contender just look at farragut. im not a farragut fan one bit, but i do respect that murder's row lineup that can do it all. then bring in two stud pitchers who can play anywhere and if any ball does get hit they will make the play. one guy alone can win maybe 2 or 3 games but baseball is all around the team. u can always pitch around one hitter and just bunt against one amazing pitcher, but u cant bunt on a good fielding team or pitch around nine guys that can swing it. i like this topic.

wilson county tournament would have been a true measuring ticket. that was a loaded field with few weak teams. good luck to them this year.

they are really a good team. who have have they beaten? i wish we could have seen the wilson county tournament. would have been a real measuring stick of this team i think.

goodpasture has to be ahead of lipscomb. gp beat ba already and beat a good beech program. other than that its really good.

la depends too much on shooting. they are a great team dont get me wrong,but bolivar and west tn breed some athletes. bolivar scores on dunks and lay ups i like bolivar big in this one.

after one week of play my top 3 1. goodpasture 2. ravenwood 3. lipscomb who impressed? goodpasture, ravenwood, overton who stayed pretty solid? beech, lipscomb who fell? father ryan, brentwood academy

district play opens monday. what are the matchups? and who ya got?

phs opens district play against their biggest rival, white house, at home monday at 7 then back at wh at 7. white house is always solid and phs is improved. go phs!

i look for a really tight series this year. these two teams have played each other the past two years in the district tournament going 1-1 against one another. this rivalry is as heated as they come. coach parker has portland playing well and hard. wh is always well coached and plays well. they have a huge difference maker in aussie light and some good experience in byrd,duty, and payne brothers. the panthers bring back the majority of their team and wh transfer mike kessler. i look for a good series and wouldnt be surprised for two really tough games.
