  1. I plan to mail a similar personal letter to your coach but I would like to share this with the parents and fans as well: Dear Knox West Football Staff and Players: As a parent of a Sullivan South football player and friend of the Logue family, I wanted to personally thank you for the dignified and respectful manner your team exhibited during the tragic happenings this past Friday night. Your staff and players displayed tremendous character and class in those final few minutes on the field and the following days. It is obvious to me that your program is instilling values that will serve these young men well beyond football. I also wanted to reassure each of your players that this was an event over which none of us had any control. I feel certain that that the Sullivan South family wishes your team nothing but success for your remaining season and school year. I know that I will be pulling for you for years to come. Your kindness under difficult circumstances will not be forgotten!

  3. Powertalk 870 AM and 100.7 FM carries the South games. As far as I know, the broadcast is not available online.
  4. South games are broadcast on PowerTalk 870 am and 100.7 fm. I don't believe they stream the games. Their website is www.powertalk870.com.
  5. As a Sullivan South fan who attended the Powell / Sullivan South scrimmage last week, I was very surprised when I saw Powell "beat" Catholic in the Jamboree. Not trying to be mean, but Powell did not play well in its scrimmage against South. They did not move the ball much at all. They tried to throw the ball a lot but could not connect much. The defense looked better than the offense as they did get a coulpe of nice stops but South scored on at least 5 drives. Perhaps Powell had some players out or were just having a bad day but based on what I saw I would say SD has a shot! Of course, I would have also picked Catholic in the jamboree so what do I know. Apparently, Powell has improved greatly in the past week or so.
  6. No problem. Not directed toward you in any way. I just wanted to correct my post and add my two cents on all the finger pointing on the board! Anyone who knows anything about South football knows everyone of these players works extremely hard and deserves respect for their commitment. Just to do the running takes an quite a bit of determination and willpower - and everyone does it! To publicly criticize these KIDS who are working hard, is inexcusable in every way. These are not pro athletes - just kids wanting to have some fun playing a GAME!! If you really have an issue with someone, be a man and talk to them face to face - not anonymously behind a keyboard. I think this board should be a place to share the positive things about South football, discuss the upcoming opponents, etc. It is definitely not a place to drag some poor kid through the mud! P.S. - You are 100% correct about the coaching staff not listening to parents about playing time! It makes me laugh just thinking abut it!
  7. Ethan Bates plays basketball - Ethan Long plays football. Sorry about that. In fact, Ethan LONG made several big plays in the scrimmage - an interception and a fumble recovery if I remember correctly. It is great to see kids who are good ball players like Ethan who have stuck it out, waited their turn and worked hard get a chance to get on the field and have some fun. After all that is what it is really all about isn't it! FUN!! We should all remind ourselves of that. For any poster on here who would badmouth a kid on this board because he missed a block, fumbled a ball, etc, you need to take a good long look in the mirror because something is obviously missing in your own life. All of the names and information is based on my memory - so take it for what its worth. I am sure several other kids played a lot that I did not mention. As for Cassell, I didn't see him play a lot, if any. Could be an injury - I don't know. I hope he gets a chance as I saw him some last year during JV and he has some talent.
  8. For those of you who have some interest in who might be playing, here is who I saw playing the most at the Betsy scrimmage depending on what set they were in: OT - Morelock? (Connaway did not dress but was at the scrimmage) OG- Fuller C - Solt OG - Zach Ervin (McGothlin rotated in at OG some) OT - Conkin (Hammonds and Logue rotated in at OT some) WR - Zanoni WR - Watterson WR - Shanks QB - St Clair RB - Taylor TE - Phillips, Garvin, Anderson FB - Phillips On defense: DL: Mcglothlin, Logue and Hammonds (Conkin and Fuller rotated in here) LB : Bates, Garvin , Phillips and Anderson DB: Zanoni, Shanks, Rowland, and Not sure about the 4th DB (Riddle, Williams, Shipley ??) Everyone played some but this who I saw out there the most. The kickers (Austin and Fenvys? rotated). We didn't punt so not sure about that. My thoughts on the scrimmage were that Betsy threw the ball pretty well against us. They hit 3 or 4 long balls (2 of which were pretty much jump balls) that resulted in scores. #22? for Betsy made some nice plays going up and making some snags. THE QBS for Betsy #10 can really run it and #15 for Betsy can throw it pretty well. Betsy didn't do a whole lot on the ground. South ran the ball pretty well. Bobby and Aaron had some nice runs. I really liked Aaron's toughness. He made something out of nothing on several plays. Betsy looked like a different team than we scrimmaged in the Spring. Both teams had a couple of turnovers that stopped drives. I think the first teams played to about a draw on the scoreboard (5 scores each - could have been 5-4 not sure). South 1#s seemed to pick up steam running the ball as the scrimmage went on. Betsy scored 2 or 3 times on Souths 2s and 3s late. It was hot! Didn't see any obvious injuries for either side. Betsy should do very well in its conference. South has plenty to work on and needs to improve if it wants to be successful against a very tough schedule. The Powell scrimmage will be a great test!
  9. Does anyone have info on South's scrimmages (who, when, where) ?
  10. Don't quote me on the score but I believe it was 30 - 8 in what was a very hard hitting game. Although Central's touchdown came very late in the game I was fairly impressed with central's JV. Their Qb made some nice throws and they did move the ball on a couple of series but just couldn't punch it in until the very end. I thought they played very hard. Jordan cassell ran well and scored at least one TD on a swing pass and Taylor Rowland (sp?) was all over the field on offense and D. As usual Aaron and Wesley played well . On D Ethan Long made a bunch of tackles including a huge hit on the QB. Jay Conkin had a couple of sacks and a big stop on 4th down. Austin Riddle had an intercepion. I'm sure there are others but this is what I remember off the top of my head.
  11. Thanks for sharing your great photos! Keep up the good work!
