I think less than 1% of Jefferson County Athletes will play professional Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Golf or any other sport, not to mention the goal of a school is to not produce good sports teams, but to produce good students and citizens. People worry entirely too much about success of High School athletics and not enough about the quality of education the students are receiving. I am a recent graduate from Jefferson County, that went 31-12 in football (72% winning percentage for 4 years) from 2001-2005, but when I walked in to my freshman English at Carson-Newman they really didn??™t care nor did any other professor. Building a second school with lower student to teach ratios, better environment (no mold, no extreme heat and cold, no overcrowded classrooms), more technology and an administration that can worry more about the students than the building, in return this would most definately produce that better student and citizen. Student-Athletes are students first and one should worry more about their academic ability than their athletic team so building another school is a must. Just for reference even with 2400 students Jeff co is not any kind of powerhouse in anything....... besides golf anyway.

Jefferson County seems to be rolling, although Maury Middle would hold their own against the teams that Jeff Co has beat this year. Karns is a scary team, because they have Jeff??™s # the last several years, and the scarier part is that no one really knows why they have had Jeff??™s #. I think this will be close for a half or so then Jeff's running game will take over. This offence is good enough to win some games, even without Mcfall, which is very surprising. However Jeff co defense will be the Achilles heel in the playoffs if they make it. I just hope it??™s not close in the end and for some reason Anderson goes for 2, like a previous coach did (cost Jeff co a spot in the playoffs). You know your oline coach is doing his job, when people complain about getting hit in football. This will be a close game, but if it is really close in the 4th I think that East has the advantage. Home field and Mo Town officials kinda have a reputation. However the biggiest advantage MEast has is the loss of McFall. He will be missed as leader just as much if not more than as a player on the field. Keys to victory for the Patriots: 1. None or very few turnovers 2. Complete 4-6 passes at critical times 3. No break downs on special teams (I hope no pooch kickoffs) Keys to victory for the Hurricanes: 1. Pressure new QB 2. It was great to go to a Jefferson County game and have a hard time finding a good seat Bigorange.

Last week I watched the worst Morristown West football team I have ever seen beat a much improved Jefferson County team, probably the best Jefferson County football team since the 2004 season when I played. The key factor was 6 turnovers; any team would struggle to win with 6 turnovers, unless you??™re UCLA playing The University of Tennessee. I believe that Jefferson County will probably look like a championship team at times this year, and like a coach Euverard team at others. However, I believe that Jefferson County may get to relive those ol glory days this coming Friday when the Cougars come to town. Jeff Co - 31 Camp Co - 14
