  1. Where is Johnson and friends from? I'm sure its noted somewhere in this 17 page thread but hopefully someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.
  2. yes coach did improve his wins but I believe our opponents had more to do with that than we did. I can't speak for all those who voiced their concern about the coaching staff but I know a lot of them are not just people who can't handle losing. When something is wrong and those in charge don't see any cause to address the problem people have to sometimes speak up even though they hate to like all get out and hate the thoughts of causing any trouble. They shouldn't be put in that position to start with. That is all in the past though and I hope all the loyal fans see a change for the better. I also wish all the best for Coach Wells and his family and any of the assistants that may end up affected by this. They deserve it for their devotion no doubt.
  3. That may be the case at blackman in regards to the administrators. nice folks but i don't believe they understand the part an athletic program plays at the high school level especially at the 5A level. Blackman is a 5A high school in one of the largest cities in Tennessee, they should hire someone with that level of experience and track record. Its very important to the success of a program for the head coach to bring in his own staff. I would hate to see a couple of the assistants at Blackman go but bringing their own is usually how its done . Hopefully the new coach would see the good assistants that are there and be willing to consider them as part of the new staff. I do not believe there is anyone currently at Blackman qualified to step into the HC position. A lot of good people but the experience just isn't there. In my opinion losing Butch Vaughn and Roy D Weeks (Blackman Middles original prinipal and football coach) was a hugh loss for the high school and the Blackman community. Both these guys were real winners, not to say coach wells or the current admin isn't, they were just real good motivators, disciplinaries, and I believe things may have been different had they moved into the high schools positions. But thats beside the point, in the past, history. I just, late this afternoon, heard the news about coach wells and read all the post to this point. I would like to take this moment to reply to just one other comment I read and that was the post about this turn of events being premature because coach wells had not had any real talent to work with...I beg to differ! They obviously have no ideal what caliber of players Blackman has had and simply failed to utilize over the last four years. And in defense of those "trouble making parents" obviously that poster hadn't ever sat through 4 quarters of a BHS football game much less four years worth. I don't believe anyone who wasn't there could imagine the extent of frustration endured so try not to judge so harshly. You really did have to just really love the game and watching your team to stick with it without quitting or getting up and leaving.
  4. i know you guys TRY to keep it up beat on here and i'm sorry to get all sensitive on you and i probably won't say anything more about it but when a player was quoted in the newspaper saying " some of the players last year wanted to win, they wanted to be good but just didn't want to put in the work" and then i keep reading we were a worse team last year i was pretty offended and maybe i shouldn't have been. maybe that player didn't mean it the way i took it either. it just seems like the cause for the past is being misplaced to me. maybe i'm wrong, thats just the way i see it based on my opinion on whats going wrong out there based on what i witnessed. i 'm sure not everyone agrees with the way i see it but I know a lot do. I knew most of those kids from the last few teams and i know most of them worked at that football program hard, like a job 50 weeks or so a year. they don't get the credit they deserve. when mine was a sophmore, there was 30 something sophmores on the team and the majority of them were starting and the word was " by the time all these sophmores get to be seniors, we're gonna be awsome!". by the time they were seniors, they were more experienced, bigger and faster. i guess i just don't understand???? sorry to air my frustrations out on the world wide web /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  5. i know, its just that its always about the underclassmen at blackman, their always going to turn the program around, it just never seems to happen. the seniors were told this every single year my kid was there by their coaches. at some point you've got to ask yourself whats really going on out there? i'm sorry if i sound bitter but i am. i don't know what the answer is but at some point you have to try something different and i'm not suggesting coaching changes just something different.
  6. even though i acknowledge you have the right, i totally disagree with your opinion that last years team was worse. i just don't see it. unfortunately i just see the same and its just a slap in the face to the past players to come on here and say they were worse. if you want to brag on your kid i totally understand, just leave mine out of it please, he reads these post also.
  7. just for the record and to stick to the subject i do hope blackman makes history friday night. they are soooooo due some better days.
  8. its really sad to say but in my opinion wells and company sacrificed the past three seasons doing the exact same thing, leaving an experienced qb on the sidelines while trying to teach a rb/db how to be a quarterback. if they wasn't trying to run the spread it might not have mattered so much. i wll be really surprised if anything changes but i do hope blackman can make the changes necessary to bring themselves out of the mess they've been in the last few years. i have to believe the coaches want to win but when most or lets say a lot of the parents in the stands are shaking their heads, even the women, saying "why would we do that?" you've got to wonder what in the world is going on. i sadly agree with you highschoollegend, if the overall philosophy don't change i'm afraid its going to be another sad year for the blaze. never give up and quit trying blaze. the players from the last three years DIDN'T even though things were terrible and some have said they did. if they were there at that last game of the season, after enduring what they did, they were neither lazy or nonchalant and never gave up trying to make something out of what was being called in from the sidelines.
