  1. First of all..................I like the wing offense; especially the option-type that Riverdale runs. I just thought I would check some facts about offense production in your so-called vaunted district, and what I found out did not surprise me. Here is 2008 results: 2008 1.) Riverdale (10 games) - 291 pts (29.1 avg) 2.) Oakland (15 games) - 332 pts (22.1 avg) 3.) Smyrna (13 games) - 212 pts (16.3 avg) 4.) Blackman (10 games) - 129 pts (12.9 avg) 2009 1.) Riverdale (14 games) - 404 pts (28.9 avg) 2.) Blackman (13 games) - 335 pts (25.8 avg) 3.) Oakland (13 games) - 331 pts (23.9 avg) 4.) Smyrna (10 games) - 218 pts (21.8 avg) 2007 Riverdale (11 games) - 298 pts (27.1 avg)..........note Smyrna was (28.4 avg) 2006 Riverdale (14 games ) - 437 pts (31.2) YOUR team by stats on this website is easily year over year the most productive offense in the district; yet every other week you continually slam the so-called antiquated useless offense...............what exactly are you expecting? Please do not let common sense get in the way of the above facts..........Riverdale's offense is very good. Great post. Finally someone can back up what I have been saying all season long.Keep the wing-t Nolan.
  2. Thomas took a team to the State Championship in his first year when their combined record the previous 4 years was 11-29. Oakland is just going to reload. Oakland's team maybe built on their defense, but Defensive Coordinators around the State will have nightmare's trying to stop Oakland next season. Yeah everybody's going to have nightmare's of run left, run right, and run up the middle.Unless you guys have a transfer qb coming in I don't know about, I am guessing all throws won't be much over fifteen yards.
  3. Don't matter who you have in the backfield, your team has always been built on defense, and your best defense players are all gone.I think you better get a offense coordinator.
  4. I disagree.Yes in the first game of the season when your coach decided not to gamble and throw the ball on first down in overtime, coach wells bet the farm you would run and you did, and when it came down to throwing the ball,he(wells) guessed right again, and forced a bad throw because of pressure he dialed up on your qb, and you guys settled for a field goal.In the playoff game, yes coach A did mix it up by passing, but we weren't even supposed to pass against this great Oakland defense, or so everyone from the dnj said anyways. We wasn't even supposed to get close to winning.Last but not least, wasn't it our defense that ended the playoff game with an interception.A defense coordinated by Coach Wells..
  5. The football banquet is next week, and I will try and find out when spring practice starts.I think in the future you will not see many underclassmen come in and start like you did in the past, simply because the soph's now have that position nailed down for the next two years, and to be honest, last year #2 beat out a senior as a freshman two years ago.Why was that?Well, again to be honest, and you can look at 2008 record, our senior class lacked talent big time, and also lacked leadership. Also this kid can really play, and how can you play a senior with less talent than him.I fell like if Coach Wells can stay at Riverdale for the next four or five years, we will dominate Oakland every season. He right now has their number don't you think?
  6. R u serious with that statement. How many games do you honestly feel like he is going to help you win?Don't forget the district runs thru Murfreesboro not Lavergne.lol.
  7. Tdcman, I understand where you coming from now.Yes Tamar Butler was a beast out on that field, and he was hands down better than anybody on the field in every game.He was a joy to watch.I know that one of the senior lb's of 09 season has several offers from different schools, but not sure if he has made up his mind or not.I think kid's these days have way to many distractions going on.I feel like it's up to the coaching staff to keep them focused and hungry, and I feel like this year the staff did a much better job of it than last year.I know several coaches left after last year, and I am not sure, but I wonder if that was the reason. They maybe could not relate to the players.I know for a fact every defensive player loves playing for coach Wells. As for that BCS ring, I know who you are talking about, and I can't wait to see that ring.I am so glad he won.
  8. Yeah lod, I to played in England in the 80"s in Bedfordshire on the B squad playing wingback.I played with some of the toughest sob"s I have ever played with, and that includes football here in the states.I remember one game in particular one of our guys broke his collarbone, never came out of the game, played the whole entire game.I would not have believed it had I not seen it myself.I sure miss the fish and chips after the game. Our rugby club was great just to hang out in and party.I sure miss the competition.
  9. BUMP! GO WARRIORS! ok tdcman, I will usually back you up on posts, but I don't quite understand what you mean by difference makers at the lb position.R U saying our lb's were garbage this year and the three years previous? As for the goalposts, I would bet my paycheck it is for the rugby team.
  10. That is what I heard as well.I talked to several kids that are graduating this year, and they all said they wished they could have played on it.I think all the rain this year might have had something to do with their answer.
  11. well tdcman, the tight end position is wide open for next year.Somebody needs to step. The big linemen up front with have to play both ways just as Mayes did this year, but with hard work they to will be able to play on Saturday's in the future. The QB position in my opinion will be down a little bit from 09 simply because the next QB wasn't able to get the necessary reps during the season, but if the kid that I think will win the job actually wins it, we will be fine.Just be patient with him early on this year.We lost two great snappers and a great kicker, so somebody needs to fill big shoes on special teams.I do not know who is competing for the kicking job, but I will find out.One thing for sure, Wells will have the defense I feel playing better next year.I know some feel the warriors will be sown on D next year, but I am here to tell you there is plenty of speed that will be the junior and sophomore class next year, and most have seen playing time since they played in middle school.I will check on the weight meet for this year, and post what I find out.Look for Oakland and Riverdale to play some more great games again this season is my prediction.
  12. Woodruff was freshman qb this year.He will compete for starting job this fall.Overall great athlete with great speed, and scored a td in the playoffs this year running the ball. All he needs to do is get bigger and stay healthy.I am not worried if he can pick up the offense or not. He's been playing qb in the wing-t system now for two years. As for Boykin, good speed as well, played linebacker freshman level. Not really sure varsity position yet, but he will play somewhere I am positive on that.Let me also say these kid's are fine young men, and will make the warrior nation proud.
  13. 2p, I am not aware of Brad applying for the job.I just thought as a motivator and overall good guy, he might get some mention from Oakland folk, but I guess I was wrong. As for Oakland running the wing-t, I could tell the players didn't really buy into running that type of offense. They didn't quite know on the line what to do as well.
  14. Ok thanks 2p.I misunderstood.DId you ever read my choice for head coach at siegel? Well just in case you didn't, I thought Brad Cowan was a good fit for siegel. What do you think?
  15. Look for Woodruff and Boykin to play quite a bit next year.I can't wait to see how these two guys play in the spring scrimmages. As for the rest, I believe we might see some new lineman into the mix quite early this fall.
  16. Ruth I believe you have Creasy at Trousdale in 2007.That is incorrect. He was defense coordinator at Riverdale in 2007 If I remember correctly.AS to the hire of Coach Wyant, he will be fine as long the seegull parents get behind him, work as hard as he does, and always have his back no matter what.He will not be able to change the attitudes of the players if the parents are not behind the coach.I personally know him and his family, and I am very happy for Coach W.
  17. I am going to throw a name out there, and I am sure not many people have heard about this young man, but I know who he is, and what he can do.Brad Cowan would be a great fit for the job at siegel.Played at Gordonsville back when they had great teams year after year, and also lettered at mtsu for four years I believe. This young man will relate to the players very good, and if I were Nolan, I would definitely interview him.He knows football, plain and simple.
  18. I bet it's the noisy cheerleaders from whitestation breaking the rebels concentration on the field, or maybe it's the loud whitestation band doing it.
  19. This thing about the band playing when the visiting team has the ball, believe it or not, starts in middle school in rutherford county.Smyrna middle school's band is the world' worst at doing this.I figured out why they do this, after we beat them two years in a row.The football team needed all the help it could get.
  20. TDC, i don't think kickers will be mentioned when they announce who made it.I feel like Powell should be given a kicking scholarship, after he kicked against Oakland in the playoffs. He never gave them any chance to get good returns on kickoffs or punts. Also our snaps all night long got back there real fast, so there was no chance of a block.Overall, I personally will miss that young man kicking for the warriors, and look forward to seeing him in the future succeeding at whatever he undertakes.
  21. Yes Limbaugh I have already watched the Blackman video.I will not be able to join you guys at Aubrey's, since the wife doesn't get off work until 1o'clock.So as soon as she clocks out. we will hit the road.I was hoping they would be running charter buses, because we need as many people there as we can get.Be loud, be proud.
  22. Hey David, secman here.Did I read that correctly, we can ride charter buses.I know the team is on those, but hadn't heard anything else.Let me know, and I just watched the video of the Oakland game.Awesome footage wouldn't you agree.
  23. Just curious greyrider, have you guys played anyone who runs the wing-t?
  24. Does anybody know if buses will run to Maryville for parents to ride and also fans?
  25. Wow u said it Riverdaleman.Great game.I think our kicker tonight might have earned himself a scholarship.Man he was on tonight, and so was all our boys on special teams. They have been great all season everybody on kickoff to punt teams. This is truly a great TEAM.Congrats as well to OAkland on another good season. These two teams fought their guts out tonight, and I for one will never forget it.
