  1. Here is your hint, that is all I will give, he has the size, he has the strength (plus some), he has the speed, he just needs to develop the touch. If he does that ONE thing, the Owls will be UNSTOPPABLE. Our offense will be balanced and our opportunities will be abundant. Hope I answered your question. Go Owls!!!
  2. The shame falls on his dad from what I have been told. Pappa has made him out to be a premadonna and he will have to learn humility and how to deal with it before he will ever have a chance to succeed in life. Just ask Mr. Vince Young. I think he will have such a large TARGET on his chest when they play the OWLS that he may want to act hurt in the closing moments of their prior game so that he can have an excuse not to face the MEN he betrayed.
  3. Word on the street is #6 is out for one more game. He has the talent but too much mouth to go with it. He needs to take a chapter out of Terrell Owens' book and learn before it cost him his future. We are deep brother. I have watched our JV play and the running backs don't stop. I saw who was probably the 5th stream running back and he was unstoppable as well. We have more receivers than anything else. I think we are ONE position player away from having what we need to be State Champs. I want pick on that kid by calling him out but everyone in the stands know who I am talking about. GO OWLS!!!
  4. Ouch... Notre Dame is really bad this year. I only saw them play in the jamboree but they looked small, slow and very unprepared. I can't pull for SD because they have an Owl defector. He is on his thrid school in as many years. But of course it does look better when the Owls beat a team with a decent record and they did put Red Bank in their place. Look for Red Bank to continue their woes as they have lost a lot of their quality students to the new high school on the hill. Can't wait till Maplewood... I just wish I had a seat next to boski. Don't you know that would be entertaining.
  5. This is not the same tough McCallie team that was under Potter's command. Their new coach will do fine in time but they look like they are in rebuilding and adjustment mode to me. I know several starters who would not be starting for other schools. Don't over look them, but don't fear them either. I do not know anything about Ensworth, but I will pull for my hometown boys. Prediction: McCallie squeaks by on special teams.
  6. I would really like to see Hixson win this one. It is time for their school to make it back up the ladder. Did TJ Butts go back to Hixson after Temple cancelled their program? He was a great player for their middle school and a class act. Of course his dad TK is also a super guy. If Hixson's QB is as good at football as he is in basketball, they will go far. This Owls prediction: H 24 - SD 17
  7. After watching the Ooltewah vs. William Blount game last Friday night, I will warn Maryville not to overlook these though nose kids. Ooltewah has some of the states BEST athletes and these kids from WB never gave up. What WB might lack in talent (and that is not much) they more than make up for in HEART. Don't let the 37-7 score fool you, it was a MUCH closer game. Good luck William Blount, we wish you the best this season. GO OWLS!!!
  8. This kid is not a freshman but I have been blown away at how good and calm this kid is in the pocket. The kid is Ty Presley from Hunter Middle in Ooltewah, TN and he will be one to take note of. I have seen him play several times over the past couple of years. He is a tall kid with a great arm and is extremely accurate passing. Last night he hit at least 12 receivers in the hands and they dropped the ball. If they did not, they would have blown out another good Chattanooga middle school team. In my opinion, he is the best I have seen come through Hunter and they have produced some of Ooltewah's greatest athlete's. Just look at former Hunter players like Ooltewah High Schools junior #36 Jaquez Smith (High D1 Recruit) and soon to be all-state kicker junior #16 John Long. There have been plenty more and I am sure it will not stop with Ty. Just remember that name and say you heard it here first. My prediction... He will be Ooltewah's starting QB when he is a Sophmore.
  9. I am not a betting man but if I were, I would put my money on the Pirates. I have seen the Rams play in the pre-season and unless they have improved vastly, I don't see this being much of a game. But that is just my opinion. And for the record... I have ties to Tyner. Hopefully this will be a clean game with the outcome not dictated by the men in stripes and both teams fare well.
  10. I remember those games well. You never had to get to the stadium early because there were plenty of seats available. Back then the Owls still played teams like Tyner and if I am not mistaken... McCallie. The first game I saw was a blow out by some other team and I remember an Owl player being hauled off to the hospital with a broken leg. (I think it was in the late 80's) Also the field was not painted like it is now and there was not much grass from 30 to 30. Times have definitely changed. Now you must get there 45 min to an hour early if you want a good seat and the only players being hauled off the field are the opponents. The football field is in great shape and looks like a college field with its painting. Gatewood did a lot to turn that program around. And don't worry about the money, I spend plenty with them. But I refuse to give the band $2.50 for a small coke in the concession stand. GO OWLS! I will see you in Nashville.
  11. Thanks for the welcome Primetime. If you have played ball at Ooltewah within the past 20 years then I am sure you have added to my viewing enjoyment. Did not go to high school here in Chattanooga but have adopted the Owls as my home team. Even travel to most away games. Owl fans have got to be the best traveling fans in TN. It seems Owls always have a HOME field advantage thanks to their fans. Go Owls! ...and put in some of those other guys every once in a while so we can see what the future holds.
  12. I think one key for the Owls is to start using a flanker to run plays in. Making your QB do 30 yard sprints to the sideline and 30 yard sprints back to the huddle has to take a toll. Also the Owls have got to hope no one gets hurt, with large scores and very little subbing, the experience factor could really hurt the Owls if anyone is called to step into a starting role.
