  1. Sorry for the comment about not playing football, I had no idea about your health issues. I apologize for anything said that might insult or anger you or anyone else on here, I just like the Cordova program and think it would nice if they, along with the rest of Region 7-5A got alittle bit of respect. I alos know some about R. Shaw and I'd like to see him get some respect as well. The kids has great grades, tremendous work ethic and is very humble young man. He deserves to recognized for his accomplishments. Everyone on here has pride in their team and I am no different. I wish Millington and the others the best and I hope we can beat them.
  2. Just so you know, I played college football as well and even though I'm not from Memphis, I do know alot of the area coaches and players. I don't even have kids at Cordova, but I like what their coaches are doing. I also think there are other good teams and coaches in this area, I just don't like seeing Cordova NEVER get any credit.
  3. Okay, congratulations on being a PA announcer. What about your accomplishments on the field? I will assume the cam6 is Chris Michaels and he was a great player and a coach, but what about you MarkH? Have you ever coached or just sniffed jocks?
  4. Keep your head up Dash! Let cam6 hate on the Dirty Dova, we are still proud of our teams accomplishments and usually when people put others down it is because they have low self-esteem or maybe he was never successful as a player or coach and he doesn't want to give anyone else any credit.
  5. Bartlett also got the ball on two different ocassions inside the 35 yard line and did absolutely nothing with it. Maybe you should go back and watch the game. They made about 8 first downs on one drive against the sophomores other than that they got pushed around.
  6. Cordova returned a punt against Ridgeway for a touchdown and there was nothing crazy about it. Rashard Shaw outran their punt coverage team. Also, Ridgeway was suppose to be so strong on offense with "Mr. Electric" at RB he didn't do anything and neither did anyone else, there whole offense was shut down, but go ahead and not give Cordova any credit. Just for the record, Cordova's starters left the Bartlett game in the THIRD quarter. Bartlett had two first downs before that and the sophmore kids played the entire fourth quarter (with a few seniors who never play defense--2 RB, 1 OL, 1 WR-thrown in). Bartlett NEVER even challenged Cordova, after the 75 yard opening kickoff return Bartlett was out of the game. Rashard Shaw (senior RB) didn't even play the entire second half. You are definitely wrong about the Cordova vs. Bartlett game.
  7. He has left OB, but I do not know for sure where he is. The coaches at Kirby think he is coming to them. Melrose thinks he is going there and Whitehaven has heard he is coming to Whitehaven. No one knows yet where he will be. As far as eligibility, he would be eligibile at at MCS as long as he has moved to their district. The jacked up thing is that his father keeps pimping his own son out and I guess everyone has forgotten that he was practicing this spring with OB after school and then practicing with Ridgeway at night.
  8. He is a great talent, but he was NOT their best player. The other kids workout and do what is expected of them, but his father wants him to be treated differently and that is NOT going to happen at OB. Coach Sansel has said before that he is just one of two or three really talented backs they have and he is part of a team. He is not doing what is asked of him.
  9. The father offered his sons services to several schools--Olive Branch, CBHS, Ridgeway, Melrose, Briarcrest, MUS and a few others that I cannot confirm, but he was looking for benefits and none of the public schools could offer him anything--except OB, supposedly they got him a job and moved him into their district. The father actually told a couple of coaches that he was going to CBHS for the package they offered. That is why no one from CBHS made a big deal out of him transfering, they didn't want to get involved for fear that he might talk about what they have been doing.
  10. Everywhere that young man goes his father is looking for someone to pay his rent, get him job, pay his utilities or something else. It was common knowledge that CBHS was paying his utility bills and part of his rent. Olive Branch has a whole section of houses that they put put Memphis kids in to move them in their district. They hold "combines" in the spring to evaluate the area talent and then let Pete Cordelli convince the kids that OB is where they need to be.
  11. Southwind is a county school for three more years. Cordova was annexed into MCS four years ago and now is a Memphis City School. Unlike most areas, Shelby County and Memphis have two completely seperate governments and two seperate school systems.
  12. Acording to Murphy Fair--Tennessee's High School Football Magazine, Cordova High School has had more players receive college scholarships than any other school in the state over the past eight years. Granted they are not alot of Division I schoalrships, but the do have their share of D1 signess and they have currently have three former players in the NFL--which ties them with ten other schools for most kids in the NFL from a single program. What that tells me is that their coaches work extremely hard at finding college for their kids to attend after their high eligibility is completed. I'm sure the parents of these kids are not worried about what level their children play at, but the fact that their education is paid for is what matters. You can't argue with 82 scholarships in 8 years--www.cordovafootball.com--see for yourself. They have a great staff--all played college athletics--and they definitely care about their kids. I honestly have nothing against Millington, I know the Cordova staff likes Coach Hawkins quite a bit. I just don't like it when Cordova seems to never get any respect.
  13. I know that one of Millingtons parents called the Cordova staff and asked for their help since the millington coaches weren't doing much for her son and that she said noticed that every year Cordova had 10 or 12 kids sign football scholarships. I know this because she got the head coaches number from me. I also know that another football player got zero help for football, but managed to sign at NEMCC for basketball after the Cordova coaches called on his behalf. Sounds like you are feeling guilty, you must be a coach . Again, the point is that NEITHER Cordova or millington is consider a state power, but for some reason millington fans like to believe that the recent success is par for the course and it is not, not by a long shot. I'm still wondering why everyone has some much dislike for Cordova. Private tutors? You obviously haven't been around the Dirty 'Dova lately, there aren't many cars in the parking lot and there certainly is not an abundance of money in the school. If anything Millington and Cordova or more similar than most other county and city schools. Cordova did make the playoff in 2007 because they beat Bartlett head to head and because of the Bolton situation.
  14. The point is not rocket science. It is simply that ECS is not as innocent as you would like to believe. The freshman RB is definitely not paying for his education and neither is his family, some other parents are trying to keep ECS winning now that they are mixing it up with the big private schools.
  15. You Millington fans are great. Yeras of not making the playoffs and early exits, but you forget about all of that after a couple of really good years. You have had a couple of good seasons and now you think you have been a state power for years. Nice job last season, great football season followed by not one football signing a scholarship--pretty much as usual. Way to take care of your kids after theie careers are over. You did have three football players sign basketball scholarships so at least someoen is looking out for the kids.
