  1. Being new to soccer, I do not know much about the rules. But is their some rule about the hight of the grass in a field? My daughter's team played at another school and their grass was so high you couldn't see the players shoes. This just seemed like a "home field advantage". thanks Michael Morelan
  2. Sundancer,, Great post Michael Morelan
  3. Finhead, It's very important. The NCAA does "unique" things with the counting of the students in sports. Without cheerleading being a sport it allows collages to give scholarships that are not counted toward Title IX complince. Thus removing sports for men. But the NCAA also doesn't consender any sport to be both for men and women. So if a woman becomes the kicker on a football team she is counted as a man. True this is very rare, but if Cheerleading is counted as a sport that process will make the numbers in Title IX more accurate. Who knows one day the NCAA may count you as a woman athlete. To get back to Cheerleaders for wrestling. Cheerleaders bring people to matches.. more people watching the more people will be exposed to the sport. Michael Morelan
  4. TITLE IX I have been watching this for quite a while and after talking with several people I cannot belive so little is know about the law that has and will effect kids in Tennesse. I belive Title IX was and is needed. But I also belive any established sport shouldn't be eliminated too. Don't set my house on fire but what is your opinion. Michael Morelan
  5. Just wrestle, I read the information about cheerleading not being a collage sport on The Mat site under Title IX. I tried to look it up for you but they have over 2,100 post and articals on Title IX. IF you want to look its themat.com NCAA said it wasn't a sport not the wrestlers. thanks Michael Morelan
  6. Permission????? Michael Morelan
  7. Good post.. now if we can get Title IX "supporters" and the NCAA to count cheerleading as a sport. Michael Morelan
  8. MaryvilleRebels Now remember not all wrestlers are "boys" nor are all cheerleaders "girls". Michael Morelan
  9. WOW,, you would have thought I was called for stalling. I do belive that they would be a asset to the sport of wrestling. If they cause confusion with a opponinant, that is a advantage. If they bring more people to the matches, that is a advantage. If their family bring younger kids to the matches, that may be your schools newest wrestler. If they get more students interested from the school, thats a advantage. As for their lack of knowlage about wrestling, thats will change. Thanks Michael Morelan
  10. Why is their so few cheerleaders for wrestling teams? Football & Basketball are not the only school sports. I do know that some coachs dont like cheerleaders at the meets but, the few schools that have wrestling cheerleaders always seem more intense. thanks Michael Morelan
  11. Ok ,, what is plyometrics? my daughter doesn't play basketball. She wrestles in high school and AAU in summer. Her fall sport is soccer. She is serious about track, but I belive her small size will be make the high jump difficult for her. Michael Morelan
  12. Thanks all,, My daughter is a 13 yrd old freshman. She just started this track season. Michael Morelan
  13. Question: What is a good high jump compaired to the person's height? 85%?, 90%?, 100%?, 105%? My daughter is 5'2" and she just jumped 4'10" or 94% of her height. How does that compare to others? Thanks Michael Morelan
  14. When would the womens season be? Michael Morelan
  15. In the AA class two girls from McMinn Central made the list. Stephanie Mullunax and Kathryn Brock. So they have looked at part of McMinn. Michael Morelan
  16. KGP. Thats for catching my error. It seems the more I read about Discus&Shot the less I know. KGP, in your opinion are the high/teck discus worth all the money, and how much do they help a person? Michael Morelan
  17. CoachG, Thanks for the reply. I belive the school is going to have a "early" graduation for the kids that make it to the Spring Fling. But it seams that this could have been addressed years ago. Because any way you look at this the Graduation of a student is what they have worked toward for twelve years and this should be shaired with classmates. Michael Morelan
  18. During the "Spring Fling" when is the starting time for each event? Why I ask is the "Spring Fling" is the same time that my senior son's school is having graduation. He may have a chance to make the spring fling, but his graduation is that Friday afternoon. The travel time for us is 7 to 8 hours. Is this a common conflict? Michael Morelan
  19. The current record for girls Shot Put and Discus: Shot Put: **47'1" by Angie Barker @ Elizabethton 1984 (correction I had this listed wrong) Discus 155'8" by Angie Barker @ Elizabethton 1984 Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 4-14-03 9:56A]

  21. tricities,, it is very apparent that your parents left you by the side of the road. You don't know the schools and both schools have good programs. So here is the lession your parents should have told you. "if you can't be nice and polite, shutup!" Michael Morelan [Edited by morelanmn on 3-18-03 2:13P]

  24. Does anyone have the starting times for the AAU state tour at Roane State the 14 and 15 of March? thanks Michael Morelan
  25. Chickenlegs,, you are correct Ian was beat by the boy you said. I was surprised he even wrestled. My family had been dealing with the termal illness of my father (Ian's grandfather). In less than 6 weeks Ian's grandfather went from a healthy man to unable to stand. He died during this time. Canser. Taking a toll on Ian. I hope Ian can gather himself and do his best. We will see. Michael Morelan
